We're so used to hearing the name, "Mark Twain". However, his real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens; he adopted the name "Mark Twain" from the Mississippi River boats. He worked the boats as a young man; his brother Henry died from the explosion on the "Pennsylvania"--a boat Twain was, himself, supposed to work. A mark was the same as a fathom on the sea or six feet. Twain means two. If the man checking the depth called out “Mark Twain,” it meant a depth of twelve feet, “safe water” for riverboats of the day. However, there ARE other storeis about his nom de plume. One famously suggested "Mark twain!" was the writer's trademark cry in a Virginia City saloon he frequented, meaning "Mark two more drinks." Twain himself claimed an altogether different source for his pseudonym: he said the name had been used by Isaiah Sellers, a riverboat captain who died in 1863, and "as he could no longer need that signature, I laid violent hands upon it without asking permission of the proprietor's remains." Yet another story says he took the name from stories in a magazine named "Vanity Fair" (not the one of today) which published Take your pick. bancroft.berkeley.edu/Exhibits/MTP/mississippi.html
They are so adorable omg!!! Except for the toilet paper doll in the knitted pink dress, I find her a little creepy I wouldn't want that thing ontop of my toilet tank looking at me while I'm using the restroom. The rest of them are really cute though. Thumbs up😉

abianah howell not creepy, just out dated we are manipulated to think that things that are of older age carry a uncertain and more unnerving past. As some of these dolls are older than us.
