  • Even though my daughter has pulled in a few of Dad's fish this is what I would consider her first self caught fish. I think for four years old she handled that 7 foot 6 inch rod mighty fine! Good job Caleah. Some day you're going to be out fishing your Dad.

    What is great is the way Dad just let's em fish, not all uptight about maybe losing a fish, which, when you think about it, is not a big deal. He lets her have some fun, let's her have the joy of it. Really nice Dad, great job, thanks for posting

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures

      Thanks, yeah when you're releasing them anyways its not a big deal. Even when you want to keep some I now realize it's not a big deal. Not worth ruining a great day fishing over losing a fish. I am glad they come with me. It's fun to watch them.

      +kaplin these were stocked last spring 2015 at about 3 to 5 inches long. So not new stocked fish. They act more like wild fish. Different strains of trout fight differently. These are fraser valley rainbows and the best fighting are the Pennask also known as Kamloops bow.

    • @cinctu
      @cinctu 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Fishing Doctors Adventures Yeah i live in the interior so its mostly pennask, nothing fights like a wild pennask.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kaplin not sure what you mean by wild. The only wild ones are from Pennask the rest are stocked fish in most lakes just like the ones I was catching. A few have self sustaining populations but most interior lakes are managed by stocking. I too think that after they have lived in the wild for a year they basically are like wild fish. Got to love Penn ask bows!

    • @cinctu
      @cinctu 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Fishing Doctors Adventures By wild i mean the last time they were stocked was back in the 80s or something and the hatchery stopped stocking because the natural spawning is sufficient. I think the website is called habitat wizard there you can see the historical stocking record of many lakes and tells you what strain they put in.

    Here in Hawaii we would be pissed at the dad for taking so long messin with his forceps. Just like he was scared to touch the fish and deliberately wanted the girl to loose the fish. Overall good experience for the little girls first catch...would have been better if there was the actual fish to take a picture with

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was trying to flip the fish off without touching it since we are not keeping the fish. No use bringing it into the boat for a picture, I have a whole video. Guess you missed that point. The intention was to let it go without bringing it into the boat. The line snapped anyways which is what I was trying to avoid.

    Who thought that a young girl would try to land Moby Dick with a pink net?! What kind of line was used, 4# fluoro? What kind of knot? Was that a break-off? Just a wonderful video; imagine how the kids will enjoy watch it 40 years from now--way to go Dad.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ColoradoFrontRange 4 lb fluorocarbon, Berkley Vanish. Trilene Knot. Didn't break at the knot. I think the line got nicked from rubbing on the boat or catching other fish. I thought I touched it with the forceps but after watching the video I didn't. Oh well... no big deal. There are lots more Cyclone Thomas Lures left on the market.

    • @coloradofrontrange906
      @coloradofrontrange906 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Fishing Doctors Adventures I am new to fishing. I wonder how long I can 'play' a 14/15" trout on 4 lb mono before the fish teeth will cut the line? I assume fluoro would 'hold-up' longer. If I ever get lucky and hook a 3 lb fish am I at even greater risk of a line cut? I imagine with mono: more line stretch means more risk of a line cut. Good fishing, thanks for your videos.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can play a trout of that size for a long time with 4 pound test. I usually don't break four pound test even with a 2-3 pound fish. The trout don't have much for teeth and the fluorocarbon is abrasion resistant so that helps. If you are worried about breaking off just up the test to 6 or 8 lb test then you shouldn't have any trouble. Just can't cast as far with the small lures.

      Moonstone Aquatics & Pet Corner you sound a little extreme. People have been fishing since the dawn off time. Your bird brained ideas have only started in your lifetime. I don't even think you watched the video because the fish did not even get taken out of the water so how was it suffocating? and nobody stabbed the fish.
