Matthew's little big moment is my favorite thing from this whole episode, it always gets to me and i always cry I'm happy to see another one of your incredible reactions
2:06 this freeze frame is everything😂😂. I’m so in love with your reactions to this series🫶🏻🫶🏻. I was so deeply invested in the Anne/Gilbert relationship progression myself. My heart and soul NEEDED them together. I can’t wait to watch the rest of your reactions!❤️ I’m forever sad this show got cancelled💔💔
Omg your court jester costume and the pic of you playing jesus are too funny. Brought a smile to my face lol. Oh the silly things they have us do as kids. This episode is a favorite of mine. So many precious moments, and yeah, that scene with Jerry is the sweetest
I actually though Anne really suited the short hair xD I mean, in the time period it was "social ruin" (worse than burping), but my modern mind found her hair to complement her face! (Could be more neatly cut of course).
My interpretation of the play is that not only is it clearly borrowing from the story of Adam and Eve, but it's also a way for the town to process and come to grips with the threat that the grifters posed to their "magical island" community. Note that the apples are painted gold, symbolizing not just temptation and sin, but also the enticing prospect of finding gold in Avonlea. The script seems to imply that if the Devil Lobster got his hands on the golden apples, it would rot and spoil the rest of their land. This parallels the threat that the mining operation posed to Avonlea-digging up the earth in the hopes of finding gold would have defiled the land and brought environmental destruction to the small farming town of Avonlea. The way that the Devil Lobster is defeated is by falling into the Black Hole-this mirrors how Mr. Dunlop was ultimately caught by the townsfolk after he fell down the mining shaft at Nate's dig site. About the characters' roles in the play: -Anne as The Boy: like the show we're watching, Anne is the protagonist of the play, our plucky hero. Her playing the part of The Boy was foreshadowed with her trip to Carmody. Anne has big Theater Kid Energy. I'm honestly surprised she wasn't cast as the lead role from the start. But I suppose the original casting of Josie and Billy as the leads demonstrates the pecking order in Avonlea. Josie and Billy enjoy higher social status and popularity. They would have been the "it" kids before Anne and the Cuthberts stole the show and brought about change to Avonlea. -Diana as the Fairy Princess: I feel like most characters, including Anne, see Diana as a bit of an angel, the spitting image of a proper lady. She's generous, beautiful, sweet, and comes from a wealthy family. She awards The Boy for his hard work and bestows the gift of the magical tree upon him. Diana sees Anne's virtues such as her imagination, inventiveness, and cleverness, even when other people don't, and overall, she is a supportive and generous friend to her. -Matthew as the Owl: This one is foreshadowed in his flashback with his brother Michael. Before he is given the marbles, little Matteroo was whittling an owl. Owls are associated with wisdom and true sight. I think it's an appropriate choice for a narrator character and also fits Matthew who is such a sweet and wise man. -Mr. Lynde as the Devil Lobster: I feel like this one is just because Mrs. Lynde is into seeing her husband acting a bit naughty, lol. -Rachel as Queen Victoria: This fits Rachel's image of herself, and also, to be fair, she basically was the artistic director of this whole panto production. Pop off queen! -The minister in drag as the Dame: This one is for comedic effect, but the Dame also is playing the part of Eve taking the apple from the Garden of Eden. If I remember correctly, the minister did not put up much of a fight to the gold mining, he did not dissuade the town's eagerness for material riches and therefore also shares responsibility for inviting avarice into Avonlea. -Mr. Philips as the Cowardly Prince: Also for comedic effect. Mr. Philips envisions himself as a gallant hero when in reality he is anything but. A perfect showing of his inflated ego, the Prince is ineffectual at fighting off the Devil Lobster, much like the adults of Avonlea were completely bamboozled by the grifters. It's significant that Anne as The Boy is the one who digs the hole to stop the Devil Lobster. The Boy represents the every child and the youth of Avonlea. While the adults were easily swindled, it was children, specifically Anne, Diana, and to some extent Jerry, who were able to see through the grifters' ruse, put all the pieces together, and try to stop them from getting away with their scheme. That's kind of all I got from the play. Ahh I feel like this might have made a better Tumblr post than a TH-cam comment, woops. If you're interested in the symbols in Anne S2, I recommend Wit and Folly's video. It helped me appreciate the boarders arc more as it demonstrated the deep connection Anne has with the natural world and her community and how her imagination can sometimes get the best of her. th-cam.com/video/MMUx4Qmqcuk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YEh91ai_CgUryRem
Anne actually looks pretty with short hair. Back then I understand it’s weird but nowadays I’m used to shorter hair and she’s still cute. The others are just A holes who made fun of her
omg that’s so sweet! Yes I will still continue with them. Honestly I wasn’t sure that anyone was watching or enjoying at all, but I filmed all of them before I even started posting videos on here so I just need to edit them. Not 100% sure when but knowing someone wants to see them helps with inspiration haha
Jerry giving Anne the Christmas card is the sweetest scene in literally any form of media I've ever seen😢
Marilla tearing up at the end of the Phanto, being so proud of her two loves always gets me 🥹😭
Also your reaction to the Shirbert reunion was 👌
