Great video! Many thanks for sharing. Your technique of feeding the slider from the bottom saved a pair of diving boots. My YKK locking slider broke so even though I found and bought an original YKK replacement slider nobody wanted to fit it since it wasn't feasible to access the bottom of the zip to feed the slider from the top. But I managed to do it from the top of the zip using your technique and making minor damage to the zip stopper. Thanks!

Replaced broken metal puller with cord puller. Why does my metal (guessing auto-lock) zip not move well when unzipped, but moves fine when a chain is formed (zipping up both sides)? Thanks
@SailriteDIY , what does one do when the metal locking mechanism, seems to move freely, but does not unlock?, even when adding a paper clip for more lift, didn't help. Any suggestions, other than ripping out the zipper? ( Been fixing zippers for over 45yrs. ) Hoping this is fixable. It would be great to not rip it out.
If you are asking about the zipper slider locking pin, we have not tried to remove it. If we want a non-locking slider we simply replace the slider with a non-locking zipper slider.
A double slider has two pullers on it (on each side) so they zipper can be opened from both sides of an application (the inside or the outside). A single slider has a puller on one side ony meaning it can be pulled from that side of the zipper only.
Zippers on tents are usually the "coil" type. However, it is best to match brand for brand. Usually you can see the size of the zipper on the slider. Look closely and you may see a number like "5C" for #5 size and coil.
Hello sailrite, I have a coat with a two way vislon zipper with two long metal anchors at the end of both teeth tracks. One, bottom slider is faced down ward and it may have been a locking vislon slider but I can't remember, if there was a box receptacle for the two long metal anchors at the bottom end of zipper, like you showed on your video and do you need a box if you have the locking vislon slider? Is it correct to place two vislon sliders that lock and do I need the bottom box for the two metal anchors? Perhaps one vislon locking slider for the bottom and one non locking vislon for the top or can I do without the box joining the bottom metal anchors?
The long pins or posts must slide into a starter box to start the zipper. We do not sell starter boxes than you can just add to a zipper, them must come from the factory already fixed to the zippers.

If the zipper slider is the only thing not working simply remove the end stop and replace the slider with a new one.
