  • IN THIS EPISODE I FINALLY take the Honda Goldwing bobber out on the streets (kinda) and demonstrate that it actually works - IT ACTUALLY WORKS!! AHH!
    Thanks for watching the video. I hope it was useful. Below are links to the parts and tools (or types of tools) I used in this video. I do earn money from any purchases made through the Amazon links, so if you were to say, purchase something through these links, it would help support the channel - Thanks!

    Love it. Although i was really hoping you’d hollow out the rear end of the gas tank that you cut off and bolt the shell back on, mating up to the back of the tank so it would appear that the complete tank was still there but you could pop off the rear shell to access the shock mount. But it’s still awesome as-is.

    Glad to see the bike is now a functioning vehicle. Continue to ride the heck out of it during these last few weeks of the season. I'm in northernmost Maine and our days are certainly numbered.

    The bikes leans over quite a bit lad the pegs scrape before you'll touch the crash bars, I have an 83 I restored back to factory spec. Just have to get use to the bottom weight these bikes have tale it out and just weave back and forth in your lane to get a feel for it . Ride safe,

    For the neutral shift problem, if you are really lucky, it is the water in the oil issue, or overfilled oil.
    But there's another potential cause - if the scavenger pump is clogged or not working properly, the main oil pump overfills the clutch, causing it to act like a torque converter. The scavenger pump is a PITA to check - it requires the rear engine cover and clutch to come off.
    There's also an oil screen that can clog with debris. Unlike the scavenger pump, it is pretty easy to get to. Probably worth checking first. The service manual says you have to flex the frame to remove one bolt, but it can be replaced with a shorter bolt to make future removal easier.

      Good tips, my man 👊, good tips! Believe it or not, I actually did check the scavenger pump (Episode 63), but I will totally look into the oil screen. I would like to have use of neutral while riding😀. Thanks!

    Thats so sick that you're learning to ride on a bike you did so much fabrication on yourself. I'd be so nervous about the bike working like bikes are supposed to without having any frame of reference, and throw in beginner biker skill and nerves on top of that! hats off to you bro.

    I'm glad the Bobber is driving. He certainly makes a nice sound. There are several engines that switch poorly into neutral. I think it will improve by driving it 👍✌

      It's great to finally drive it. I DO think the oil/water issue is solved at this point, so I am more confident that the bike will work 😁

    Did you sort out the neutral problem? If not, check the clutch cable adjustment. It should be engaging near (or towards) the full extension. With those levers, there may not be enough pull on the cable. The stock lever has a lot more reach. You just need a little bit of slop in the lever when it is fully extended.

    • @HooptieDoodle
      @HooptieDoodle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not fully sorted this yet. Getting into neutral when running is an issue, though, as someone else suggested, it can be done with the bike rolling. I have suspected the clutch lever to be inadequate and may need to modify it. Thanks for the suggestion 👍

    Outstanding, time on the road will develop you cornering skills, Digging the fact you dressed for the slide not the ride... Many of my young soldiers were new ridders and talked them into taking a class.. They thanked me afterwards.... Just rounding Cuba on the ship. Gotta pull calipers apart so I can roll the bike around, rear is frozen solid

      @HooptieDoodle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The engine sounds fine to me. The exhaust is custom and I may need to re-jet the carbs. I haven't checked yet, but there will be a video if I do

    You can usually get into neutral as long as the bike is rolling.
    Or you put it in second gear and shortly tap it down, sometimes that works too!
    I have found that it gets harder to put into neutral when the engine warms up and the idle is fully there.
    It takes some practice to understand the transmission, for downshift it really likes short decisive taps.
    For upshifts its benefitial to learn clutchless shifting after you get used to regular shifting, makes it shift really smooth.

      @HooptieDoodle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @assikopp123
      @assikopp123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotoMack Is your question about the Neutral or clutchless shifting?
      The "hard to get to neutral while standing" is omnipresent in old Hondas.
      The higher the idle, the harder it is to get into. Also a slightly dragging clutch
      could cause this behavior if i recall right. Oils also play a role, with fresh oil
      it works better for quite a bit.
