  • Judge hands whole-life sentence to Lucy Letby for baby murders
Lucy Letby will spend the rest of her life in jail for the “evil” murders and attempted murders of babies at the hospital where she worked.
The most prolific child serial killer in modern British history was convicted by a jury of murdering seven babies and trying to kill six more while working at the Countess of Chester Hospital neonatal unit between 2015 and 2016.

She shouldn't have been allowed to have not been there. Tie her up and throw her into court if needs be. Why people like her still get a choice on this tells you everything you need to know about our courts and laws.

"Tells you everything you need to know" she literally got a life sentence. Everyone knows her name. Fake outrage is cringe.
All it tells you is the courts adhere to strict procedure. This is good, because if procedural mishandling happens people can sometimes be let off. You're literally complaining about adherence to something that minimises the risk a guilty person walks.

While nurses and doctors struggle in decreasing numbers to provide the service for which the NHS was created, Managers, in ever increasing numbers, pursue careers with huge salaries and little accountability for systemic failures.
The greatest cost of the NHS is not the provision of medical care, it is the vast bureaucracy based on the myth of ''the advantages of scale''. The larger a service organisation becomes, the further it moves from its core purpose, the more it exists to expand its own existence.
The bureaucracy of the NHS is like the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church; failed Managers and Administrators are simply moved to pastures new, like dodgy priests.

There isn’t a rational answer to that question… but it’s probably something that developed gradually, insidiously in her. Maybe she enjoyed the extra attention the most ill babies got and by association the nurses who tended to them ..

@@mista5796 Moira Hindley was bad enough. Maybe one day she will show remorse. Maybe we may get an answer to the all important question: Why? Assuming her parents & friend (who refuse to accept her guilt) are struggling, Maybe one day they will find answers & some peace too. You just don't imagine a nurse would ever do such an evil act. It will doubtless the work of other such (genuine) nurses that much harder!

@@Katie2008 A Psychologist who studied sociopaths & psychopaths in the US ''Correctional'' (LOL) system for 20 years as a prison Psychologist developed a test questionaire that identified the factors that 1/ identified sociopathy and psychopathy and 2/ differentiated between the two. It is now a Standard Test in that US system.
Having taken his own test he was horrified to learn that he exhibited more than enough sociopathic tendencies to be medically certified as one, though he knew he'd had a happy, comfortable middle class upbringing. When he, laughingly, informed his family that his test identified him as a sociopath, they responded, ''Tell us something we don't know!'' It has famously been remarked that 40% of Fortune 500 CEOs exhibit sociopathic tendencies, i.e narcissism.
My final point, going back to the Psychologist referred to above, is that he opined, from his studies and experience that ''A psychopath is a sociopath who had a bad childhood''. In other words all are BORN with the potential and some are made by their reality. However there are plenty of records of psychopaths who had comfortable middle class upbringing. One is also reminded that activists, Revolutionaries and terrorists often come from middle, even upper class backgrounds. Osama bib Laden was a Saudi millionaire. So, while some psychopaths are made that way, all of them are born with the potential. I don't like to be too prescriptive, so for ''all'' in the previous sentences, read ''most''.
