A DAY IN A 140 YEAR OLD HOUSE! Searching For Treasure In The Closet And More!

- Join me for a special behind-the-scenes look at a day in a 140-year-old house on the Old Byrd Farm. In this video, I am joined by my teenage farm intern, who is spending the summer working at the farm. Instead of our usual tractor driving and farming activities, she's learning the ins and outs of filming and creating a TH-cam video.
We tackle some clean-up tasks around the old house, and the video is filled with fun and funny moments as we navigate the challenges of maintaining a historic property. Come along and enjoy a day in the life at the Old Byrd Farm, where history, hard work, and humor come together!
Shout out to the OBF summer school intern, who did a fantastic job learning to film on this…

The most important thing learned to day is to check for ghosts. Smart intern.
😂😂😂
@@alanmoberly64 🤣😂🤣
That
Works for me. Always check for ghosts.😊😊
Watch out for those haints!! 👻
aHaHa Ha lOLz 😂😂
Robert, your intern/daughter is adorable and a natural fit at the OBF. Hope you keep her. lol...There's something special about little girls and their daddy's. They grow up so fast so cherish it but remember this ~ that little girl will always belong to her daddy and she will cherish those memories when you're gone.... From a 70 yr. old little girl at heart who had a great and wonderful daddy. 😄
Not my daughter in this video but yes
Please keep your little helper with you when you can! She's adorable and good for the videos!
OMG! When you were in the closet and picked up the little yellow and green barrel shaped item, I almost screamed! When I was a little girl, that was the salt and pepper shaker on our table. I believe the pepper was orange and green. My mom is deceased, so that reminded me of my mom. Now, I’m going to look for old pictures of our dinner table to see if I can find them in the pic! Thx Robert!
Oh wow that’s awesome!!! Thank you for sharing that
Your intern is a hoot. She's got personality and isn't afraid of much .. just like the rest of us. 👍👍👍
Interesting information online…”Historical Note
J.H. Filbert Inc. was founded by John H. Filbert. In 1917, John Filbert died. His wife, Martha Filbert (the namesake for Mrs. Filbert's Margarine) then succeeded him as president of the company until her death in 1954. In 1979, J.H. Filbert Inc. invented I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! They were acquired by the Unilever company in 1986.”
Nice bit of research.
How interesting!❤😊
Very interesting - thank you for sharing!
Love your new intern! She put a smile on my face multiple times! Can't wait to see more of her helping you Robert ❤❤❤
yes yes
So glad to see you back in the old house
The "Lamb Chop" item is a vintage Halloween costume. The bandana on your head made you look like Rambo
Gonna have to wear it next time I go Rambo on some wisteria
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG 😂
Yep, definitely vintage, and worth something. I remember watching Lambchop in the late fifties (?) and early sixties.
Ghost left when door opened 🫣
Probably 😅
That was cute, the phone call from Taylor Swift, buy old byrd farm murch.
Love watching your daughter/intern working with you!
I'm glad to see you back in the house again! Looking forward, as always, to seeing more progress!!❤
Intern and thanks!
The intern has your humor. Love it.
Thanks Robert! Glad to see you back in the house! Great Internet!
Old Byrd Farm Intern seems FUN & inspirational!
You said a couple years ago!? Wow I would have e already had that cleaned up and painted
Good job to do inside. She did a great job with the tractor last time.
This is like a DREAM you’d lose me for hours going through all that stuff 😍 I love spooky old dolls too! I’m so invested in this place Robert you do a cracking job 👍🏼 do you still have an Instagram? Tell Taylor Swift you’re fully booked!
I’d love one of the Farm T’s ..
truck loadsa Love from South Wales 🏴 UK 🇬🇧
That’s an interesting wall clock. I’ve never seen one like it.
The old rat chewed shirt would be good for Halloween zombie costume, neat!
Your bandana is actually a military cravat. It is generally part of a first aid kit. They are very handy for making arm slings, tying up splints, etc.
Neat, should put it in my ambulance then
Chairs vs wisteria 🤔🤔🤔 too many chairs not too awfully bad…😂😅😂
True true 😅😂
Your Old Byrd Farm artifact collection looks very cool. That would be awesome if you did an update on it. The inside is looking great. I bet it feels good getting more rooms cleared and finding family treasures hidden in the trash and junk is always rewarding. I really enjoy the progress on making the old historic house and farm a beautiful place again.
Great job on the closet. It’s coming along
Robert when did you get the “ghost meter”? that checks for electrical fields. now that the old Byrd farm in on the
grid, it makes it so much easier! especially with A/C down in Georgia. that is a bad thing about old homes, they
have minimal or no insulation to keep the heat out or cool in. nice video, happy hunting for those treasures!
You guys make a great team. Helper is a hoot! The little barrel is a toothpick holder , think we had one when I was a kid in the mid fifties.👍🇺🇸
I have one like that bought as a souvenir near an Indian reservation its part of a salt pepper set
Love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you Robert working on the old Byrd farm
Great video and ghost hunting😂watch out for the brown spiders!
Sweet. More intern please
She will be back, I’m sure
Very interesting to see the Old Byrd Farmhouse from yet another perspective!
Welcome, Intern, to TH-cam filming! Great job!
Can't wait until you get into the stuff in the dark bedroom across the hall. There's bound to be some treasures in there! Great video! Keep them coming!
No doubt! That’s definitely going to be a big one right there.
If we can ever get our schedules together to get that hallway in, that will be next. It will take lots of time and care though, because that was a bedroom and a lot of family treasure, etc in there I’m sure
When I have a job like that, I sit in the doorway and work my way in.
50 likes? I was like 650. Cool seeing your intern daughter picking up the family business.
Not his daughter.
If you find any quilt pieces, let me know. I'll see if I can do anything with them for the Old Byrd Farm.
Awesome will do
Oh I hope you do find something! I’m a quilter and I spotted a bit on the cupboard you moved!😊
That’s a great idea. ♥️😊👍
Hello you all. I am glad you are able to get in where it isn't quite as hot. Your intern is doing very well and I enjoy watching both of you. For maybe 5+ years, I'd hire my niece to help me clean house about every other week. It really helped. We got to know her better, the house was easier to clean and she also got a chance to earn some money. Thanks
That’s awesome
great job Cordelia...not gonna like so you dont have to clean that closet lol
😂 too late it’s well over 50, poor intern 😅😂
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG 🤣🤣
Love the clock on the wall. Really pretty house.
Thank you! 😊
She did an excellent job. And checking for ghosts! HA!
Love.Miss Cordelia. You aren't bad either, Robert. Great video.
Your helper was a natural!
Welcome "OBF intern", I wish you success in your new ventures!
Good morning from Australia, cold here, can't wait for the summer again. Kate from OZ.
Gooooooooooood morning
G';day Sir!
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG
The little "barrel" you found is a salt/pepper shaker souvenir from out West! My mother in law has a set from her mother who brought them back.
Cordelia is a hoot!❤
Robert, You play with snakes. You are not allowed to be afraid of a little spider.
😂😂😂
Loved your video
Thank you!!
Hiya guys, I think the lamb chop was a tv show. You had lots of fun and a great job cleaning out.
Lamb Chop was one of Shari Lewis’ hand puppets on her tv show. I had one as a child.
That’s awesome info thanks, didn’t know it came from a hand puppet
J.H. Filbert, Inc. was a company based in Baltimore, Maryland, United States that produced margarine and butter substitute products, including Mrs. Filbert's Margarine and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!.
The company was founded by John H. Filbert, who died in 1917. His widow, Martha V. Filbert and the namesake for Mrs. Filbert's Margarine then took over as president. In 1979, Filbert invented I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! and began marketing it in 1981.
Unilever acquired Filbert in 1986 for $23 million in order to add East Coast U.S. manufacturing capacity. It continues to market some Filbert-created products.
Wow, thanks for the info!
She made me laugh with the Billie Eilish comment on the barrell..🤣
Like to look around the old stuff
Love watching you on paranormal episode it's the one you had on you tube.. Is pretty cool
I see something familiar in this video. Lol the quilted table runner I made! 😊 hope you like it. Can be machine washed. I am horrible at communicating with ppl and didn't tell you that when I sent it. Did the little bottle make it safely.. ? It was full of sand and dirt and I was afraid to clean it out. I didn't want to break it.
I LOVE it! And thank you!!! Yeah, the little bottle made it!
Ahh! That’s where the quilt came from.! I spotted it and thought it was something left in the house.😊
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG Awwww I'm happy you love it! 😊👍
Your Intern is a hoot!! 😅😅
Hi love old place s and old furniture and pictures and dishes. Keep on looking around love Patricia curry Danville VA ❤🎉😊
It’s great seeing you back at cleaning out old closets. Your young intern is a real cutie. I hope she’s learning the tricks of the trade of doing Utube. ♥️😊👍👍🌟🐾🐾🐾🐾
Thank you for another nice video. What I like about your channel is you keep things simple video tech wise. No stupid extra effects and tricks. Plus you always have interesting topics you cover. God Bless and keep up the good work.
Thank you!
She did great! When she used the phone for your merch was genius! Taylor Swift❤ 😊
I like the intern. 😊 We had the deer salt shaker!
Love your videos Robert
Sharon here... fun video, your student camera gal is adorable and funny too! See you next video... ☺❤👍
Y’all be careful out there in this heat! Georgia weather is brutal 😮💨
No doubt, I can’t do that heat
I am new to this group.
A hard but fun job to renovate the farm.
❤the pink Old Bird Farm t-shirt from the closet. Think it is the perfect choice for the intern to model in the next video!
What a busy day.! It was delightful to watch you and your "summer intern" she did a great job and everything was interesting and fun. The oleomargarine box brought a lot of comment, and there was lots of controversy over it's use and consumption. It was actually invented by a french chemist in 1867 his name,Hippolyte Mege-Mouries. The history of this substitute butter is quite the read. I'd keep the box, just because. Continue to stay cool and looking forward to more interesting living at the OBF summer of 24'!😄Love from Ky.
The intern needs a raise ha ha. Got that K2 meter out. I have to do the same, Robert, to the old house on our property. Take trash bags and trash what is obvious and put other stuff in containers temporarily.
What an amazing video! Such a time capsule and to be honest if we could spin it back to some of the modern times and just a bit of technology from today life would sure be awesome. Your daughter is a breath of fresh air and I see your a true family man 😊
That pjs may be worth a lot of money. Lamb chop is also collectible. Better check before throwing away.
Yup, that’s why it went into the “maybe” pile
Ok! I just thought I heard French overtones. She’s certainly a bright boost to your episodes! Nice work!
Enjoying your intern💯I like your collection of chairs🧐
I hope u put all the papers stuff in a bag to go thru all of it later to check each piece one by one
That place is very cool.. History to it
What a treasure trove! I'd be one loving to look thru the old letters and paperwork. I'm excited for your mom!💌
Cat stole the show.
Great job to the intern beauty and brains 🎉🎉
finally another good video from you Robert, with helpo from sis?? Nice seeing the other kitty as well. how is Cat doing??
Cat is doing great
That's a chatty cat!
Happy to see you working on the house again
All the time 😅
Seems that best way to tackle restoration of house is to first clear it out. Carefully inventory and pack up contents. Put in storage.... Just a thought.
Rat chewed and ripped sounds like a great t-shirt slogan...or a wired metal band
😅
I love that house! What a lot of work, but what a labor of love!
HEY ROBERT, YOUR VID CAME UPON ME AND NOW I AM HOOKED....I HAVE LOTS OF QUESTIONS BUT I WON'T GO THERE YET...YEA IF YOU CAN Preserve ANY OF THE STUFF IN THERE THAT BE GREAT. ...MIGHT GET $$$$ OK I'LL KEEP WATCHING YOUR VIDS MAN...TAKE CARE
Well hello and it’s good to see you two and looking like your having a good time as they say one day at a time for cleaning up but it’s all worth it in the end thank you for sharing take care 😊😊😊
-------> Bubble wrap as curtains, allow light and sort of insulates from the sun or use a
mylar blanket which looks silly from the road.
Good knows what you might find. Everything tells a story. Keep at it!
Robert, you about gave me a heart attack when you picked up the historical rocker by its arms. Easiest way to break them! Safest way is to pick it up under its seat. Same concept for tables: Never pick one up by the top; always pick it up by the vertical apron or under the drawers.
I have my grandmother's rocker--same style; very comfortable.
Save the book cover! The book is probably in another room. Don't forget to check the pockets of the clothes that you're throwing away for little treasures. You might want to think about wearing gloves when you're sorting things like the things in this closet.
Hey Robert. Your intern is amazing!
you maybe sharing your GoPro often, enjoy the fun

I saw a Western Union Mailgram at one point. I really wanted that. I hope it didn't go to the trash, but I think that's where it went. Anyway, that's a cute kid, and she seems to be a good fit for the channel. That's good.
Whew, you're finally back at the house!!
