I hate that people call this movie "man hating" when she also sought revenge after the women promoting/hiding the assault too. She also forgave the detective and depending on him to get her justice in the end. Assault most of the time isn't just the jerk dudes hyping up their friends in toxic masculinity circles, it's the bystanders, trusted authorities who do nothing or cover it up, slut shaming women, etc. It's a whole societal issue.
The movie is so smart for casting these extremely likable actors such as Bo Burnham, Adam Brody, Max Greenfield and Christopher Mintz-Plasse cause it gives the audience a false sense of comfort and safety and then their behavior and betrayal hurts even more. Loved your video!
the fact that they kept saying " we were just kids when it happend" guess who else was just a Kid. NINA. i swear if i were cassie id say forget the plan thats when you pick up a chair and BAMM. i cant wait to watch this movie for myself
This movie, just pissed me off on a level that I’ve never experienced before, but I’m just so happy this movie exists, so that it can put a mirror up to this twisted society we live in honey
The amount of incels in the comments denying rape culture, not understanding consent and making disgusting comments just proves the movies point even more. 🤦♀️
Unfortunately we live in a world that likes to shut women down, and doubt them when they come forward. It’s so sad to see because coming forward with something like this is terrifying and not something that anyone wants to do. But honestly as long as we have movies like this that keep the conversation going, will definitely push us in the right direction
I’m sorry, but it is the grossest insult and injustice to men to say there is a “rape culture”. It’s simply not true. It’s a damaging ideological concept not grounded in reality. Do you have male relatives? Are they potential rapists? No, just other men. It’s reductive to assign blame to the majority for the actions of the minority. How many cases have there been of teen girls murdering the friend they’re jealous of in the States? Quite a few by my reckoning. Is that a “murder culture”? Have a think.
someone said that the reason the writer had her die is because she wanted the audience to feel that anger of the bad guys winning and getting away with it that survivors of assault feel all the time and that hit so different
Also she didnt heal and fight in a healthy way. What she did was risky. If it cut after they burnt the body it would be a tragedy. But this way its a sacrifice femalerage revengeplot movie.
@@zzavid5911 In the myth, Cassandra goes on to predict the destruction of Troy only for her warnings to be ignored: she is raped, enslaved, and eventually killed. With a premise like this, it isn't a coincidence that the heroine of Emerald Fennell's debut feature, Promising Young Woman, is named Cassandra
This movie taught me that you really can’t trust anyone. As a huge Bo Burnham fan I was rooting so hard for Ryan and I felt so stupid when I found out he was just as sucky as all the others.
The fact that Ryan STILL attends the wedding, even after being confronted by her only further proves that he's a part of the problem, like all the others she confronted. Everyone just turns a blind eye to predators.
It’s very telling that Madison didn’t attend the wedding, but Ryan did. I’m also reminded of when Cassie and Ryan were first hanging out, where she asks him if he still hangs out with the guys, and his immediate response was “they’re not that bad.” He’s clearly been overlooking their sleazy problematic behavior for years
@@heyidaroothat’s such a good point ! I never noticed that Madison wasn’t there lol idk how, such an important detail. but yeah that’s good that she distanced herself from them after everything
so fun fact that scene was accurate timing of how long it takes someone to suffocate someone, The director wanted to show how accurately messed up it is that he did that to her and she knew he was goide the crime
@@83gemm His goal was silencing her. That's why he didn't stop until she stopped moving. As long as she was alive, his perfect little fabricated "nice guy" persona would be in jeopardy.
When she told that school administrator woman to calm down - she did not leave her daughter in a dorm because "I don't have as much faith in boys as you do" ........ I KNOW her spirit left her damn body. There has never been a bigger hypocrite.
I love the detail that she was wearing Nina's necklace when she died. Meaning Nina was with her the whole time so in a way she helped get justice as well
I also think giving the Cassie half to her friend was symbolic that her heart was broken in half and hers never recovered. It would be easier if the movie showed her healing her heart but the reality is what was shown. Abusers get to walk away with no guilt but the victims carry it forever. Sometimes you never recover.
I’m pretty sure when Joe chucked the necklace into the fire, he probably didn’t even realize what the necklace was. That’s just how disposable women are to these men
I really hate that the critic may have said anything about her being a seductress, she's not meant to be. She plays drunk, that's all she does. That's the point.
Very telling to describe someone as a seductress who is literally just sitting by herself while being visibly vulnerable. Literally saying that is seductive to men🤮
And even if they were kids (which they weren’t), you should still know better than to rape people!!!!! Consent is consent is consent. And no matter how old someone is, they should know this!!
“We were kids” is an excuse exclusively for white men in their 20s. Black and Latino children don’t even get to be “kids” as they’re often mistaken for being in their 20s
If it actually is a true "she said, he said" what are you basing your decisions on ? You can't favor either side. Clearly in this movie they favor the guys, even with a tape floating around and tons of witnesses. What if it actually is a crazy lady, who starts accusing people of rape when nothing happened. This whole thing is super difficult to figure out cause what happens usually is between 2 people in a room with no witnesses. Good luck figuring out he truth then.
@@pulkmeesand this is why victims of rape aren’t believed ladies and gentlemen. and don’t start with the “but guys get accused all the time!” guys who get falsely accused of rape are between 2%-8%. also, 310 out of 1100 are reported to the police making it 2 out of 3 go unreported. And less than 1% of rape reports are lead to felony convictions. so please, enough with the “but we don’t know” they do know, the judicial and legal system is designed to protect perpetrators, not to protect victims
@@pulkmeesnormally even in something is intense as murder it would be "innocent until proven guilty", sexual assault especially date rape however is essentially on the lines of "slut until you can prove the girl is truly innocent". Good morning important question here is a constantly comes up and he said she said well how do we know that she's not just crazy and lying, we don't do that in very many other types of crime, especially when we nowadays have as much evidence for sexual assault that we do. You would think that because in cases of sexual assault since both parties are still alive and verbal after the fact you should be in for an easier time to determine what happened since the victim isn't in the ground. Mostly though try to realistically think what the likelihood is of the girl just being crazy and lying to get the guy in trouble. How often is that reasonably likely to be the case? Because after a sexual assault assuming in this hypothetical the victim is Left alive after the fact the less damaged they look the more likely the population and jurors are going to rely almost exclusively on the optics of both parties. Both parties as they are usually during the trial. and partly because the West is so prudish people have more difficulty thinking of what they presume to be a nice young man or a nice man give me a sexual predator than they do looking at a woman and thinking that she was just a s*** or promiscuous and maybe she made a bad choice and this was her solution. Why is that easier and even more likely for us to believe usually without little to any influence? When someone is murdered and they find the killer guilty, we tend to look at them after the fact especially if it's a more gruesome murder and asked her to try to figure out psychologically speaking why they did what they did on behalf of the victim. With rape because the victim is still alive we can't seem to help ourselves from pointing at them and going this is such a horrible heinous thing to have happened clearly there's no way that this occurred without you doing something to put yourself in the position for it to happen. We can't say that to a murder victim. From there the more physically attractive and socially positive in terms of impression the rapist is in the situation the more difficult it is to prove the case because once again we are lying solely on optics. As if somehow the only precursor and trigger for a rape is the physical appearance and not psychological situations. We've had well over 10,000 years of human history all the way up until now and we are still predominantly incapable of accepting that a man who is considered conventionally attractive cannot possibly be a devious or despicable predator. There's no logic to that sentiment and yet we keep doing it. It's easier for us to tear down the woman and find every excuse possible for why she must be lying then it is to overcome our biological urges and the things that driver species and knowledge that the man is a monster she just happens to have a great jawline. It also stop and ask what's possible real benefit is there for a woman to lie about something like this? Women's lives are ruined the second even normal sexual encounters they've had become public knowledge let alone sexual assault, the percentage of women who would think this is a good methodology for getting out of trouble is so infinitely small it's almost completely useless as a metric. Because for a man to have his life and or public image ruined, you typically going to need layers upon layers of prior instances and witnesses and professionals to weigh in all these things and even then it's not that difficult for them to make a comeback usually as an underdog or if you really want to make this ish American as part "of a come to jesus and testify". To do the same to a woman all you need to do is suggest promiscuity, the public will do the rest. Usually with very little if any encouragement at all
Oh my gosh, you honestly validated my feelings at the end when you started crying- when I was watching this I was SO pissed that they 'won', that I honestly started BAWLING when she had prepared for it to go wrong and got them anyway. Cue me sobbing and screaming YEEEESSSS in front of my TV! SO GOOD! What a ride this was!
I meaaan I was crying like in half of the movie's run. As a person who was sexually assaulted for years this movie spoke more volumes than I could handle and seeing other people "get" the movie and make me feel validated as well is like a small catharsis.
I had a therapist who forced me to record myself re-telling my assault and play it 13 times a day to “desensitize” me. It’s been 7 years and I’m still getting over her version of “exposure therapy”. This movie is everything for survivors. I think the key is moving on, her pain destroyed her in the end and she was willing to lose everything. No woman should feel that desperate and most of us do.
Exactly. I know it seems like shes a gaslight girlboss gal but she's just someone who never left trauma mode. She never healed. I wish you tranquility, happiness and healing!
My therapist was exactly the opposite. We talked about my r*pe once, I was told never to speak about it, think about it and if I even thought about it I should do house chores. That was fckd up too, bc if I did something that man might have been arrested. And now I always wonder what could have been 😕
I heard that the ending is polarizing and I'm in the camp who really loves it. It really elevated the movie for me and actually made me respect it even more since it portrays such a bitter truth within our society, that the perpetrator of this kind gets caught only when it's too late because of how a case like this needs proper evidence for it to be a legit crime, and Cassie knew what she was doing going in. It may seem reckless but it's still in line with her character and mental state, either way she wants to prove her point so badly. It truly deserves the accolades it's receiving and I just hope the Academy doesn't snub this one out.
I watched it today on the movie theater before coming to watch Zzavid's reaction and I couldn't agree more! Her dying was so meta but so needed and it totally made sense. I loved it.
i totally agree! it made it ten times more good that it left me gasping in bewilderment because i couldn't believe she really died and then everything made sense with her last revenge, people just pay the consequences of their acts when it's too damn late. it deserved that oscar so much
I had the same reaction from 31:20-31:25 as Zzavid. Actually, correct that to HAVE, because I've seen this movie like 3 times this weekend and my heart soars every fucking time that chorus hits. (But like, it soars in a sad way. Like a crying eagle, or a dead kitten attached to 30 helium balloons.) Also this was my first Zzavid video and wow, I'm in love.
Yea, like the legal system is literally built to protect sexual predators and find no justice for survivors. You said that cases like these need “proper evidence”, and many times the courts think that multiple testimonies and text messages aren’t “sufficient evidence”. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 And I also like the ending, because she died for her beliefs. Throughout the movie we saw angel wings jetting out behind her multiple times, as well as in the coffee shop it looked like she had a halo - just like a saint. And many saints died for their beliefs, just like Cassie did.
It was best for me because it was the truth. The man was drunk and had one arm tied behind his back and still smothered her to death. Another sign men can kill us like we’re ants
zzavid: “what is she gonna do stab him? that's child's play!” zzavid two seconds later: *aggressively screams* “STAB HIM” lol, this movie commentary was hilarious and the score for the film was IMMACULATE.
I vividly remember my inner rage building up when.....That, happened. The writer/director wrote S2 of Killing Eve so I should've seen that shit coming. I feel like we were supposed to feel the anger Cassie had.
thank you for crying. I watched this with my family and none of them took this seriously, I was literally crying and they were like "oh wow...time for bed" when the movie ended.
I’m telling you I don’t know what came over me but it was just this feeling that they we’re gonna get away with it and I was so mad that when the cops showed up the floodgates just opened
I used to only have gay male friends and female friends when I was in high school, and my mom would ask why and it was because I actually felt safe to be alone and be myself around them and not have to worry that they were gonna try something as soon as I let my guard down. I know it sounds pretty extreme, but at that point, I had already had some pretty unsavory experiences with straight guys who were supposed to be people I could trust :/ I have since made friends with some straight guys that ARE actually decent.. but this movie made me think that maybe that's why a lot of women feel so inclined to have friendships with gay guys, because they feel like they can have male friends without having to worry in the back of their heads that the "nice guy" is just being nice until he can find an opportunity, idk..
Honestly same....I was (and to some degree still am) cautious of befriending straight males or when men are friendly toward me. Its always at the back of my head that are they being nice because they are genuinely nice or because they are waiting for me to let my guard down and make a move.
I understand why the whole Gay Best Friend trope in media is troublesome, but I think that the tendency straight girls have to emulate that is deeper than them wanting to live their main character fantasy at the expense of real people. Having platonic friendships with someone of another gender is important and the threat of having that used against you terrifies some young women, whose inter-gender friendships are placed under increased scrutiny by peers and guardians. Best case scenario, you trust your platonic straight guy friend to drive you home, and in the worst case.....
i completely understand! i’m 15 and my only friends are girls and i also have 2 non binary friends. i am not friends with any guys because the guys in my school constantly make jokes about sexual assault and it’s not just disgusting but it’s genuinely terrifying. i get it it’s just a “joke” but if someone can joke about that and not feel bad imagine the things they could do without feeling bad either.
This movie left me in pieces. But Ryan did not trick me with the good guy cards he pulled. When he came in and drank the spit coffee... That’s when I knew he couldn’t be trusted haha
GURL! SAME! I knew he had issues right then and there! I was like "Oh no, this is some bullsh*t, he's the true psycho". I was also like "Hmm, he seems way too perfect".
A fraternity brother of mine assaulted a friend of mine and stole her virginity in college. I didnt find out until after he graduated. Hes married now. I hope he sees this movie and squirms for the rest of his life. It's the least he can do after getting away with it.
Oh my goodness, I’m just seeing this now and it truly breaks my heart. Thank you so much for sharing that because this happens way too often and this getting away with it thing needs to stop.

Idk I think it’s painting the picture that every single man and I guess person is shitty, rape, won’t believe you when something like this happens, doesn’t seem like complete reality to me because even tho reality sucks, there’s not just bad people, men included in it
@@corymorrow5329 I think I understand what you’re trying to say. It’s not painting every single man as a rapist, but it is shining a light on the nuances of the system. Like Ryan isn’t a rapist BUT he was a bystander who saw rape happening and didn’t do anything to stop it. Then there are all the “nice guys” who are only “nice” compared to their buddies who are more explicitly misogynistic
@@corymorrow5329 The movie didn't portrayed all men as rapist but as people with choices on how to handle the situation, and sadly based on her list every single one has failed the test of not trying to take advantage of her, part of that test is that until the last second before things go to far she gives them the chance to do something different and they simply won't. Also part of her plan by confronting all the people involved was to give them the chance after so many years to do things different, to see if there mind had changed and only 1 man own up to what happened, the rest even the women kept making excuses, nobody was willing to own up to there mistakes.
@@Horrorlover1978 yeah I wasn't trying to say that every single man was a rapist, whether or not a rapist they were shitty altogether which to me seems slightly unrealistic but I could be very wrong I haven't seen the full movie
Sometimes I think Artemis had the right idea - with those guys who spied on her bathing (some say by accident, some say deliberately) - one guy she made blind, the other she turned into a stag and he was then ripped apart by his own hunting dogs.
“Nina” means “girl” in Spanish, I dunno if the writers were thinking of this but it makes me character even more symbolic of any girl, that this could happen to anyone
The red flags about bo’s character I just let pass like it is just accepted, she doesn’t show for a date, he shows up at her house? Yeah even Cassie doesn’t catch it. These are just normal to us.
I’m still angry at the fact that he watched a man take Cassie out of the bar when she was (supposedly) wasted, asks him her name, subsequently realizing what he’s doing, and instead of intervening, he leaves her with a potentially dangerous man; all because his feelings were hurt. He was showing us how disgusting he was all along.
He also hounds her until she says yes to giving him her number. When she later goes to him to apologize and he doesnt immediately say yes to her staying she respects it and LEAVES HIM ALONE until he comes back for her@heathern8043
This might sound really very rude, but I was really touched at how you were crying at the ending, as I haven't seen other reactors tear up or become emotional, as we see Cassandra getting justice for her friend. Seeing you tear up was really sweet in showing your understand so much of how women go through so much heartache and pain by sexual assault, and how it feels so rare that justice is brought to the victims. Throughout the ending I didn't cry but I was touched so much, by Gail receiving the necklace to symbolise Cassie's way of saying she is her bestest friend just like Nina was, and Cassie is now living through Gail much like Cassie was by avenging Nina. I also was touched seeing the police car, as you are reminded how too many time cases of sexual assault are ignored far too often, and it is nice to see Cassandra give Nina the justice she deserved. Was just really sweet seeing how emotional you got, and thank you for being a funny; honest; lovely and fun reactor. Xx
@@xeecstasy3183 sorry about that. Of course I wasn't happy seeing someone else upset, it was how Zzavid felt and understood the situation and injustice that was sweet to see.

As soon as Bo Burnham showed up, I knew the casting was intentionally done to make us feel a false sense of safety cos of who we know Bo to be- a good guy, so I wasn’t surprised when the twist came. This was a well done movie.
I fucking screamed when I got this notification. I watched this just last week. At first I was mixed on it because of the ending but I respect the choice to do the opposite of what the audience expects. So many points were made in this movie.
I mean, I’m not gonna lie, this movie got me soooo mad, but, they really needed to have a punishment for these men, cuz if it would’ve ended at her death, I would’ve been writing letters
This movie made me incredibly sad. I liked the short speech about Nina, Cassie held at the end. Really connects with the title. Like with Brock Turner they were concerned about ruining the future of a "promising young man" but what about the future of the promising young woman he just ruined? Made me so sad :[

Every reactor has a signature reaction. I feel this one is yours so far. This movie is more important than people think and I honestly think it will leave a timestamp on movie history.
By the middle of the movie, my mum was planning the kitchen party, the chilanga mulilo and the wedding then when the reveal of Bo Burnham's character happens we were both crashed.
Some people didn't like how they casted Carey Mulligan as Cassie when the character was supposed to be a very sociopathic assassin disguised as a girl next door american. They were about to cast Margot Robbie but..... does Harley ring a bell?
There are actually other analysis videos of this movie that say the same thing! Margot Robbie's history as Harley would bring audiences' opinions of Harley to the character. They chose someone with benevolent and innocent acting history to be Cassie to support the idea that any woman could experience this female rage.
I absolutely loved this movie. It is one of these movies that has stuck with me for a very long time. I really hope they get all of the accolades this movie deserves!
what fucked me up about this movie the most was cassie knew that al would never go down for what happened to nina, but he would go down for what happened to her.
This movie is so powerful... I also cried too. There is something so real about this, as any type of person that's been sexually objectified or threatened, it's just... a lot. It's a lot when she dies... but it's also such a relief when that guy gets arrested at the end. So many mixed feelings. Rage, joy, sadness, despair, etc... and as any type of person who's been on the other end of a dangerous man, yeah... it hits home.

I was so shocked when I watched it the first time that I couldn't cry, but your reaction made me tear up a bit. There truly was no other way this was going to end ; she was either going to die or be arrested if she had been through with murdering the guy. In both cases I think the tape would have been released anyway, but her life was over the minute she started that crusade. Such a great movie...
I truly couldn’t stop crying it was almost like a release of all that anger that had built up, but I’m sad that it has to happen in the first place, but I’m so happy there was justice
the switching between reeling from this movie and jamming out to the soundtrack is so relatable lol i LOVED this movie, when she was describing Nina at the end i FELT that. A whole person, your favorite person, gone. Such a good film.
When I watched it, I had this horrible sick feeling every time Ryan came on screen. It was easy for me to know that plot twist..... But the ending caught me sooooooooo off guard.
Ok. I hate to say it, but Ryan reminds me of so many people that people are like, yes, he’s good, but the veil gets lifted and they’re just ugly. From Nate and Daniel(more of Daniel though) of euphoria and the guy off of the haunting of bly manor. Had potential, but turned out to be such disappointments.
Lol I'm "one of two straight guys" watching this review. Watch this movie with my mother past weekend and we both loved Carrie's performance. She deserves the Oscar.
The murder scene is almost 3mins long which is literally how long it would take to suffocate a person. And while I definitely think it wldv been better if Cassie lived. This movie is actually more real. A small girl alone with a group of men wldv most likely been over powered. I think this was a more honest movie vs the chic that get rapes and then becomes a badass! Separate Note: the soundtrack was most definitely EVERYTHING!!
This film is so powerful and sad. Your reaction had me LIVING though. I think it tracks back to that saying: if you seek revenge against someone, first you must dig two graves.
This movie was extremely cathartic for me and I don't know if past experiences or just my overall distrustful personality made me feel like Ryan wasn't a "good guy", never trusted that man.
I love this movie…. it does women right, it’s one of the best heroines I’ve seen in film, and despite the ending being tragic, it’s so poetic and effective
My favorite character in the film was the lawyer played by Alfred Molina. The other men didn't remember what happened as something bad. Just as a stupid thing that happened when they were "kids". The lawyer knew what he did and his conscience has been eating him. He asked for forgiveness or a way to help. I was glad to see Cassie cancelled her revenge against him. He's being punished by his conscience.
I agree except 1. he didn’t ask for forgiveness, that’s what Ryan did. He stated the fact that he would never forgive himself. Cassie forgave him because of that and his breakdown of relief didn’t mean he forgave himself, which he shouldn’t. That’s why he’s a good man. BUT 2. he also was flawed because he wasn’t aware how threatening he seemed when he quickly say next to her and grabbed her. He didn’t pick up on her body language of fear because he was consumed with his own feelings. But you can feel that this character has the potential for growth. Feeling guilty isn’t the solution nor will it give him absolution. Prosecuting the perpetrators will be the right step, but he should also continue to empathize with women and not forget their feelings when he’s focused on his own.
I loved how many tropes it subversed. I loved the ending too even though it wasn’t as cathartic as I wanted it to be. It was realistic, though not really. Women rarely get any sort of justice.
This reaction is gold! Started with the Scarlett/Harriet joke along with the Cosby show theme playing had me dying (too soon) as well as the genuine emotion and empathy you showed for Nina & Cassie. You are always hilarious but this is definitely one of my top 5 from you!
I know I'm SO late. But thank you so much for this reaction! I really appreciate your thoughts throughout and your emotions at the end. I watched the movie two days ago for the first time, and it completely destroyed me. The fact that Bo Burnham's character Ryan ends up being one of "the nice guys"... holy shit, I was destraught! I'm still reeling. So I just wanted to say that I appreciate you and your reaction a lot!

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 sadly is super realistic.
And this is why she deserved to win Best Original Screenplay
Soooooo true! I think I literally screamed at the screen when I thought they were getting away with it…
Zzavid got the point: she had to die for them to get justice. We're supposed to be so infuriated with this reality that we will seek to change it.
Also she didnt heal and fight in a healthy way. What she did was risky. If it cut after they burnt the body it would be a tragedy. But this way its a sacrifice femalerage revengeplot movie.
The soundtrack and overall aesthetic to this movie is EVERYTHING we have no choice but to stan
Everything about this movie deserves an award

The fact that Ryan STILL attends the wedding, even after being confronted by her only further proves that he's a part of the problem, like all the others she confronted. Everyone just turns a blind eye to predators.
It’s very telling that Madison didn’t attend the wedding, but Ryan did.
I’m also reminded of when Cassie and Ryan were first hanging out, where she asks him if he still hangs out with the guys, and his immediate response was “they’re not that bad.” He’s clearly been overlooking their sleazy problematic behavior for years

Don't forget the (gay) soundtrack and the amount of famous and talented actors 👌
You forgot good writing in a movie and the funniest shit Zzavid says that gets me cackling like im a windex bottle every minute.
so fun fact that scene was accurate timing of how long it takes someone to suffocate someone, The director wanted to show how accurately messed up it is that he did that to her and she knew he was goide the crime
That’s so twisted, I’m telling you I had to pause the movie for a few minutes because it was just too upsetting to watch. This movie JACKED ME UP!!
It actually takes about 3 times as long as it did in the film, but most movies don’t have the balls to hold it as long as this film fid
It made me SO uncomfortable that that scene went for so long. I was pissed also she died
It also makes his, “It was an accident,” such obvious BS.
I would have asked her "why are you so upset? Give those boys the benefit of the doubt..."
Literally saying that is seductive to men🤮
@@CarrotFlowers421 Well, only to the kind of man who would wants his victims to be less capable of fighting back.
Like her first scene in the movie is her in a fucking work suit?! Like what is seductive about that?!
They weren't kids when it happened, they were in med school, so they were in their mid-20s when the SA happened.
That’s what I’m saying like yea you’re young but bitch y’all ain’t in diapers like WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!
The implication of “innocent until proven guilty” when it comes to rape accusations is that the victim then becomes guilty until proven innocent.
Usually with very little if any encouragement at all
The V neck. The jacket. The movie. The timing. IMMACULATE.

My exact reaction. And then I immediately watched it again. Immediately. That almost never happens. Especially in recent years.
I am literally in shock what the fuck. I am so sorry and I hope you've found a better therapist do undo that shitty one.
Exactly. I know it seems like shes a gaslight girlboss gal but she's just someone who never left trauma mode. She never healed. I wish you tranquility, happiness and healing!
I'm so sorry.
Oh my God that's horrible.
Like a crying eagle, or a dead kitten attached to 30 helium balloons.)
Also this was my first Zzavid video and wow, I'm in love.

Damn they didn’t console you or nothing
I actually completely understand why you only had female friends or gay friends.
Nailed it.
i completely understand! i’m 15 and my only friends are girls and i also have 2 non binary friends. i am not friends with any guys because the guys in my school constantly make jokes about sexual assault and it’s not just disgusting but it’s genuinely terrifying. i get it it’s just a “joke” but if someone can joke about that and not feel bad imagine the things they could do without feeling bad either.
This movie left me in pieces. But Ryan did not trick me with the good guy cards he pulled. When he came in and drank the spit coffee... That’s when I knew he couldn’t be trusted haha

@@corymorrow5329 I think I understand what you’re trying to say. It’s not painting every single man as a rapist, but it is shining a light on the nuances of the system.

By the middle of the movie, my mum was planning the kitchen party, the chilanga mulilo and the wedding then when the reveal of Bo Burnham's character happens we were both crashed.
You just vibing to the soundtrack is EVERYTHING
LMFAOOO I was feeling it
Some people didn't like how they casted Carey Mulligan as Cassie when the character was supposed to be a very sociopathic assassin disguised as a girl next door american. They were about to cast Margot Robbie but..... does Harley ring a bell?
That’s what I’m saying like, gurl she turned this role OUT!!!
Margot Robbie actually produced this movie.
I mean at least a nomination for best actress, cuz she ate this UP
@@zzavid5911 You are absolutely right
what fucked me up about this movie the most was cassie knew that al would never go down for what happened to nina, but he would go down for what happened to her.
SHE WAS BUSY SCREEN TESTING FOR HARRIET YOU DID NOT
what did they(i just found their channel, not sure of their pronouns) mean by that?
@@emuuya2745 scarlet johansson has said that she should be allowed to play anything or anyone she wants, including a trans person or someone of a different race or even a tree (she rlly said that). the movie harriet is about harriet tubman, a black woman so that’s what he meant by that :)
“She was screen testing for Harriet” THE SHADE I’m dead 💀😂😂
When you said McPhee all I could think was Nanny McPhee😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Saaaaame 🥴🤣
Damn you’re good, I truly didn’t see that one coming
Anything less than crying would've felt inhumane. I cried in the cinema. Fantastic reaction.🌻🎋♥️
It truly just broke my heart💔💔
Also the “girls don’t need a brain....?” Or the similar line she said was from the great Gatsby her other movie am I right?
‘A beautiful little fool’
While she used the alias "Daisy" when confronting Connie Britton who portrayed Dean Walker
Nice catch!
Very good, Mary!
Ok. I hate to say it, but Ryan reminds me of so many people that people are like, yes, he’s good, but the veil gets lifted and they’re just ugly. From Nate and Daniel(more of Daniel though) of euphoria and the guy off of the haunting of bly manor. Had potential, but turned out to be such disappointments.
which guy in bly manour??
@@ThePinkpanda15 I‘m guessing Peter Quint 💀
The SCREAM I let out after I asked "is this the Cosby show theme?" And then three seconds later it hit me omg
Lol I'm "one of two straight guys" watching this review. Watch this movie with my mother past weekend and we both loved Carrie's performance. She deserves the Oscar.
Girl, I LOVED your reaction to this movie! You're the best male friend a girl deserves!
Thank you sooooo much my luv, you’re too kind
And now the movie's nominated for multiple Oscars, including best picture. The power that you hold. (It's such a good movie tho, it deserves them).
I love this movie…. it does women right, it’s one of the best heroines I’ve seen in film, and despite the ending being tragic, it’s so poetic and effective
"and two straight guys watching" oof queen greeted me
So you’re the one LMFAOOO
Anthony Willis composed the score and that BEAUTIFUL cover of Toxic
Good men don't do what he did in the first place. If he feels bad, he should've turned himself and his friends.
OKAYY Zzavid serving looks with a professor tease😍🤣
Sex education 💃🏻💃🏻
I loved how many tropes it subversed. I loved the ending too even though it wasn’t as cathartic as I wanted it to be. It was realistic, though not really. Women rarely get any sort of justice.
Oh the juice Newton song at the end always gets me!! My mom played that all the time when I was little I love it still 💛
You’re entire reaction throughout the movie was LITERALLY my exact same reaction I was reliving everything with you and agreeing
This reaction is gold! Started with the Scarlett/Harriet joke along with the Cosby show theme playing had me dying (too soon) as well as the genuine emotion and empathy you showed for Nina & Cassie. You are always hilarious but this is definitely one of my top 5 from you!
Anyone else spot the metaphorical blood after each time Cassie taught people a lesson? The ketchup, the red car lights littered on the road etc?
I know I'm SO late. But thank you so much for this reaction! I really appreciate your thoughts throughout and your emotions at the end. I watched the movie two days ago for the first time, and it completely destroyed me. The fact that Bo Burnham's character Ryan ends up being one of "the nice guys"... holy shit, I was destraught! I'm still reeling. So I just wanted to say that I appreciate you and your reaction a lot!
