To whoever is reading this and you HAVENT seen this movie... wtf are you doing reading this go watch the movie. Its hilarious, heart warming and full of character and characters that you can't help but love. Easily one of my top 5 favorite comedy movies. It is one of only a few movies I can truly say are wholesome and good for the soul.
Oh I've seen this movie a time or two! In fact, because Jackie's eulogy speech was so moving, I decided to kind of use it for my speech at my Uncle Jack's funeral. He was a second father to me, God Bless you, Uncle Jack, and may we be forever in your debt!
And the day we are forgotten ,when dere is nobody alive who remember us....will just wait till the trumpets sound and from our ashes we will arise,us, our fathers, our fathers fathers..all our ancestors..... And if the Good lord pardonsbj our 'for want of witt" sins, will have a hell of a party....
This scene made me cry! So touching, very moving! Yes, the village will reap the rewards of Ned Devine's winnings but he was beloved and would be missed! :')
The parting glass must be the definitive anthem for all great hacks. Especially those with heartfelt Irish connections. Wonderful tearful glorious music. I can die happy now. With Ned Devine!! Thank god for TH-cam xxx
This is one of those movies that we should remake every 5 or so years. The original will always be the best but I just wanna keep this film in the zeitgeist forever…
@@heathermullen2405 If i'm not very much mistaken, this scene was filmed somewhere between Cronk ny Arrey Laa and Liattee ny Beinnee, in the vicinity of Burro Meanagh, on the west coast of the IoM, just north of Port Erin
Has anyone noticed the close analogy between the script and characters in "Waking Ned" and the Holy Gospel? Ned Devine: God (Father?) (Devine - Divine) Maggie O’Toole: Virgin Mary (Virgin but Mother of a child with no known father) Maurice: Son of Ned (Son of God) "PIg" Finn: Saint Joseph The Lottery Man: Possibly the Archangel Gabriel The Tullymore community: Early Christians, led by Jackie O’Shea: the clever Saint Paul Michael O'Sullivan: good old (and coward) San Pedro And of course, Lizzie Queen: Judas Iscariot. Perhaps there was no plagiarism intention whatsoever; it's just that good arguments always work well throughout history of literature (and of films).
Why is the boy drinking? He's not supposed to be doing that, is he? Anyway, I can understand why, the film is just brilliant, so I guess it's worth it!
This movie is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my whole life.
Well written! I feel the same! 🥹🩷👍

One of the best endings of a film.
Severely underrated film that always makes me cry

Well said. My father and I make it a point to watch it at least once a year when we have time together. Never gets old, and stirs our Irish blood.
I found me irish pride in this film and The Pogues music
I could not agree more! This is a nearly perfect movie. I smiled and laughed and cried through the whole film.
well said!
I want this song played at my funeral.
And if they refuse to play it refuse to go.
Same ! But I'm afraid that all around me are Japanese...
Had it sung at my dad’s funeral by one of his pals from AA! My sister didn’t get it! Reminds me to this day how angry she was with me.
@@barryshannahan5988 that’s awkward 😬
me too - I have it in my instructions! but only THIS version not the other sad ones
I had Goosebumps and tears in my eyes! What a ending of an fantastic movie! To Ned! 🥃
The scene really encompasses the spirit of the movie, which in itself captures the spirit of Ireland
Filmed on the Isle of Mann
@@equinoxstudio8205Yeah but it was representing Ireland
All of us can be immortal as long as someone will remember us with joy.

Yours has been one of the more inspiring comments I have read on youtube.
One of the greatest ending scenes of all time. The pan out, the music, and the overall emotions of it, everything comes together so well.
This scene made me cry! So touching, very moving! Yes, the village will reap the rewards of Ned Devine's winnings but he was beloved and would be missed! :')
Ye'll be missed. Ye done well
Beloved Ned Devine, with a heart as big as his head 🥲

I live near here! Great film does justice to our scenery.
Wow, a full 360 degree sweep. Genius.
When one day it's up to me, I want my loved ones to do just that. Stunning ending.
My number one favorite movie ending of all time from my fifth favorite movie of all time!!
Wow I'd forgotten just how wonderfully uplifting this song is, it's in the same league as " you're the voice"
Best scene ever!

Filmed in the Isle of Mann. Went there an was outside Neds cottage.
A rather heroic ending to a comedic movie
Here again for another splendid St. Patric’s day!
Watch the movie!
This is one of those movies that we should remake every 5 or so years. The original will always be the best but I just wanna keep this film in the zeitgeist forever…
This right here is how you end a movie.
My My, My heart!

Great ending but check out that breath taking Irish scenery.
it was filmed in the Isle of Man.

Ned Devine: God (Father?) (Devine - Divine)
Maggie O’Toole: Virgin Mary (Virgin but Mother of a child with no known father)
Maurice: Son of Ned (Son of God)
"PIg" Finn: Saint Joseph
The Lottery Man: Possibly the Archangel Gabriel
The Tullymore community: Early Christians, led by
Jackie O’Shea: the clever Saint Paul
Michael O'Sullivan: good old (and coward) San Pedro
And of course,
Lizzie Queen: Judas Iscariot.

Makes me wanna do something other than comment on videos on youtube, ALRIGHT LETS GET A JOB!

The Irish are more lax with their drinking and he's with his dad, so whatever.
They couldn't care less about the poor sod.
