While I agree in principle, what would you do if you find yourself sitting on more money than you thought you’d have, with every opportunity to hunt things you’d have never even given a thought to
Clay once again a amazing job on the film, and a amazing job representing hunters around the world...This ladies and gentlemen is how its done. Nothing wasted ,and the cleanest meat you can have... What is the make of your flannel . That looks like a older real flannel and not the cheap ones of today.. Thank you once again for a amazing video
A refreshing change from videos featuring 600y shots with 'dial in the distance scopes' or ones glorifying the kill with "30 kills in 20 minutes!". Good job.
that's insanely accurate shooting with a flintlock, Clay. Seriously impressive stuff. I can tell you've hunted so much just from your decision making skills with how to position yourself with the landscape in relation to where the animals are & what they can see. Great film.
Thanks a bunch for this Clay! I could almost feel the snow hitting my face as I watched you cross that open ground. That huge herd of elk cows was amazing!
Found myself holding my breath the whole stalk that’s good entertainment. Just got a doe with my flinchlock this morning in pa. Regular rifle season. For same reasons Clay. Keep up the awesome work!
What a great video I'm 72 years young and just finished the 2024 hunting season also a great fishing as well I'm not afraid of cold weather, but you got with the fli ntlock for sure stay safe
Thank you for the great video once again Clay. And congratulations to the cameraman. Seems like the same gentleman from the previous video. Do not know who he is he did a great job. Since I see you again wear that bright red/orange cap on the backpack I was wondering does it serve some purpose. To me, a hunting illiterate, it looks like a great way for Elk to see you from far, far away since it really stands out.
It’s primarily a safety thing. Elk and deer don’t see the red/orange end of the light spectrum. So to them it’s just a shade of grey. If I were hunting birds like turkeys or waterfowl, I’d be in all camo/earth tones. Birds do see orange and even infrared 😉
So much about this has me smiling. Love the country you are in and assuming that it is Tiege behind the camera and thinking about you two wandering about with your flintlock feels right. Of course the wind showed up in that country, hearing it gave me a brief chill. That old flintlock reminded me of a goose hunt where you packed a flintlock shotgun. Anyhow, enjoy seeing you still at it and cheers to you both from the southeast.
great hunt, nice el , and Ive watched many of Xanders videos , I loo forward to seeing him on his first big game hunt , all the best of luck to you both,
Not only was that an awesome shot by you, that was also an awesome shot by your son. Perfect camera angle, captured the prone shot, the impact sound, boom! So good.
I love Blackpowder Muzzleloaders. Flint, Match, Wheel, Cap, and 209 fired. The only smell better than burnt blackpowder for me is the Salty Sea Air. ❤ I have worked on some smokeless Muzzleloaders. They just don't do it for me.
Sitting on my sofa, after roast beef supper, glass of red wine. Wow fabulous scenery. Great hunting experience. 🇬🇧 Looking forward to the next one with Xander.
@@clayhayeshunter I was hoping for a simple deer outing tomorrow in safe English woodland but high winds are keeping go me home. I’m a softy but there you go 😂. Mind you a tree limb on the head is not a good way to meet your maker.
That was a good one Clay, great to see you have a good hunt for all your efforts and our entertainment, enjoy the taste bud,Phil from soaking Newent England!
Incredible elk hunt! I hunt with a flintlock and to know how you have to keep your gun dry and constantly check and reprime! Just like it every time you have a new hunt! Congratulations!
nice bro, my favorite videos from you are the winter ones or the rainy ones. nice! hoping to see more videos more often but i know these take a lot to make
Hunting pennsylvania currently with a flintlock. But where you are hunting turkeys reminds me of up above orofino, where I shot my turkey ! Palouse. Used to live in Utah, now in ohio. Did the late season cow hunt, felt like I was there with you. Was alone, but got one a slid it out like you did, at 65. Snow to my crotch !
It pleases me to see you take the tongue! I never leave them, one of my favorites but no one else in my acquaintance will ever even try them. Good stuff!
Inspiring to see hunts like this. Thanks, Clay. I took my first big game animal ever this year using a muzzleloader. A blacktail buck at 73 yards. Wasn't a flintlock, but I'll get there.
Crew Cab First Gen. My oldest son and I are building mine out of parts I accumulated over the last 20 years. '85 Crew Cab long bed D-350, rebuilt/built '96 P7100 Cummins, '03 Ford ZF-6 manual and manual transfer case, '97 Ford hi-pinion Fana 60, 2001 disc brake Dodge Dana 60.
Thanks for the great video Clay, what an awesome hunt! And I love the connection you did with "Dances with wolves" an all time favorite movie of mine 🏹 Keep on going with the good stuff.
Can’t wait for the Xander episode. I drew a late season whitetail tag for my state this year. Weather looks to warm for the first season but I’m hoping to have some snow on the ground for the January hunt.
Any one that has ever tried flintlock shooting knows just how difficult they are to operate reliably. Cold temperature makes it even more challenging. Very disciplined hunter !
Hey Clay, did you know Dale Toweill. I ask since you said you were a game biologist. He was one in Idaho for about 30 years. Has written a few books as well. He was my Dad's buddy in high school in Sweet Home, OR. When I was a kid we moved to John Day, OR and went out to his Dad, Bill's, place. Been family friends forever but Bill died and we all kind of lost touch. I didn't know Dale but I remember Bill vividly. Had GREAT times on his property in the late '70s - early '80s!!!! Miss those times for SURE😢
Awesome hunt, Clay! Every once in a while, we earn an easy one. There is nothing better than a good ole fat elk burger! I purchased a 12 gauge BP for turkey after watching your hunt a while back. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. However, thank you for showing how to use the primitive weapons
Thank you for making a hunting video with no music just pure sounds from the hunt.
Honestly this content is way better than what Meateater has been releasing lately
Many thanks
If you ask me all those guys are a joke. They are not the average working man hunter. I’d hunt with you any day before those guys
While I agree in principle, what would you do if you find yourself sitting on more money than you thought you’d have, with every opportunity to hunt things you’d have never even given a thought to
They’re actually good folks. I don’t know Steve very well, but Cal, Janis, Clay, and a few others I know are good down to earth guys.
This is the man that i call a real hunter. Well done clay
watching him goat his way up to the top of the hill after carrying all that gear all day in the cold, Clay is the MAN!
Great country , great hunt , thanks Clay for inviting us along .
Any time!
@clayhayeshunter did you say you bought your flintlock 20yeats ago from Tennessee Valley Co? Or Tennessee Valley muzzleloader
The sound of that flintlock is just straight badass
Fantastic Jeremiah Johnson! Love these old fashioned mountain man snowy hunts.
The narration is out of this world. Love it clay!!!
Thanks 🙏

Asbell wool
I got the asbell coat, vest, and haversack, good stuff
I recommend this video to anyone who's new to Clay Hayes. Wonderfully filmed. Wonderfully edited.
Thank ya
Love these elk hunts, archery or Muzzleloader. Everyone deserves a early successful hunt once in a while.
A refreshing change from videos featuring 600y shots with 'dial in the distance scopes' or ones glorifying the kill with "30 kills in 20 minutes!". Good job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nothing like a late season hunt. And to get the elk out in one piece is a true bonus. Great content, inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Truth.... that long barrel doin its thing!
Appreciate the kind words!

The world's best digital entertainment, always raw and real...
Congrats on the harvest! Other advantages of late season hunts: no worries of spoiled meat from the summer heat and no flies/hornets.
You're right, that's a big plus!
You are getting better at everything you do, hunting, filming, editing. Thanks, Clay!
Man, these are such a joy to watch. I know it’s hard work filming it all and everything. God bless!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Brother Clay , im getting up there in age and i certainly see you as a young man with a old soul.....keeping it real. Its appreciated
Thanks, appreciate that!
Love your way of life and your dedication to preserving the nostalgic hunting weapons that you use. God bless you and your family.
Thank you!
Found myself holding my breath the whole stalk that’s good entertainment. Just got a doe with my flinchlock this morning in pa. Regular rifle season. For same reasons Clay. Keep up the awesome work!
Congrats on your doe!
Absolutely gorgeous scenery and an amazing job capturing it on film. A rather short hunt but I loved every second, did not disappoint.
Thanks for watching!
Your shooting skills with a flintlock is absolutely amazing. I always enjoy watching your videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you, much appreciated
Amazing awesome late season hunt Clay, great video. Congratulations!!
Great hunt, great content. Thank you for sharing and keep it coming. Cheers from SW PA.

Congrats on a successful hunt. Really enjoy these muzzleloader hunts where at 200 yards, the hunt is just beginning.

Late season > rut and flintlock > other weapon types. The chess game is masterful. Thanks for taking us along and congratulations sir!

Clay,
Thank you for sharing this video. I am living my life-long dream through this amazing hunt. And congratulations on a successful hunt.
That Osage bow was absolutely music when he let that arrow fly. Like the crack of a wood bat nothing sounds so good.
Awesome Clay, we all get a little lucky now and then.
God bless.
Fantastic. I feel like our hunts this year were super lucky as well. Or maybe well deserved? Congratulations on the harvest.

Maybe you can try a hunt in the Appalachians for white tail and black bear. Some elk in a few states as well.
Nice video!! Thanks!! I enjoy the late flintlock season in PA.
Good stuff!
Always a pleasure to watch your video's sir. feels like i'm along on the adventure without having the sore back and legs from the hiking haha.

That was fun to watch! My dad has a rifle just like that I need to borrow it from him
Great hunt. Great video. Did it all without trying to sell a single thing.
Thanks! I try to keep it real.
Clay you are hardcore! Love the narration on this video. Love the explanation of why we hunt with primitive weapons.
Glad you enjoyed the explanation.
Took a couple days, but I'm caught up on your uploads. Nice cow by the way. She'll add well to the freezer.
Thanks, I think so too.
