@@OcotilloTom, sorry to hear about that. My brother-in-law was also in Vietnam at around the same time in the 1960s (USMC helicopter pilot) and he suffered from the effects of Agent Orange too until he died in 2005.

I drove there from Wichita with my 18 year old son on a pair of old Harleys, arrived on Saturday. It was our first time. Basically, the rally sucked. Never again. What a waste of time. We escaped up into the mountains of Custer State park on Wednesday. Driving the twisty roads with my son was unforgettable.
Baby boomers we been riding bikes our whole lives but there comes a Time when the love of your life is sitting behind you you just can't hold that bike up prolonged periods of time so don't dis us for three wheelers you'll be there someday I love my state of South Dakota!
I have been an American Biker for 60 years. The best thing about being a Biker here is all Bikers love other Bikers and are always ready to help other Bikers.
Owning both the 1600 GTL and 131" Road Glide, (131" = 2147cc), all I can say is that the Black Hills lend themselves more towards the Harley. Not because of performance issues, but from an aesthetic perspective
Thanks for sharing the video. Many of us who ride have never been to the rally, nor have any desire to go. But the Black Hills region has some wonderful twisties just made for 2 or 3 wheels.
I don't know where you live but the twisties of the Black Hills are a phenomenon you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. Granted, there are stretches of road everywhere that a reminiscent of the area, but being there with 500,000 likeminded individuals there with the same purpose is ...... out of this world

I went to Sturgis in 1975 with 3 friends & had a blast. Drove up from Colorado. Lots of bikes, lots of beer, good food, pretty girls and a few doobies. Great time!
Totally agree .... But when I go to Sturgis it's 2 weeks before because nobody is there yet and everybody is happy to see you then I leave just as everybody is starting to arrive .... Best time I've ever had in SD.

At least you can still see the bikes at Sturgis! (What time did you make this?) I hate to think in a couple of decades Sturgis will be like Daytona. But hopefully I won't be around to see that.

Well, if you went through Sturgis a week after the rally everything was probably all back to normal, they are pretty quick at packing everything up. This video is from around I believe Tuesday about the 5th day of the rally right in the middle of it. Some of the Custer State Park stuff was filmed a couple days before the start of the rally.

When I was young I really wanted to hit Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Never made it. Now I'm mid 60s and I could care less and prefer to avoid crowds/drunks.

Probably depends on who you ask and how old they are everyone has a different opinion, but I always have fun. My first rally I was about 12 when they had WWE wrestling there I got to go with a friend and watch that. Everything somewhat changes over time but for the most part it seems the same to me.
please go and show us how empty that woke ass HD booth is. Certainly not the workers fault. It's the board and the CEO. They need to go. If it doesn't change I'm sure a massive amount of us will be getting rid of our beloved HDs. I'm sure another brand would love to have our hard earned cash.

Oh yeah, for a few days it was blistering hot about 100 degrees. There was a tiny bit of rain, but it was pretty nice for the whole rally.

Do they still have the off Main Street bike shows? 2010 there was sponsored tents for the different shows. Some big industry awards, prestige.
