11k miles in on my 40th zx4rr. I have averaged 53mpg after my tune. I play in the canyons a lot and also commute and take big trips on it. Biggest trip was a two day ride to devils highway in Arizona.
Have you had any oil leaking issues? Or any issues in general? I have a 24’ zx4rr krt and I’ve heard several people having failures (specifically the 2023 models) Am wanting to get it flashed next season but am hesitant if something happens and they void my warranty
The quick shifter 1-2 shift works great, if you're specific with how it's used. Every other gear you can use at nearly any load going up, but for a crisp 1-2 shift you need to have the engine "loaded" more than other gears. There is a sweet spot where if you're driving semi quickly then it works great, but for low speed traffic I always just grab 2nd normally. A full titanium exhaust while expensive is worth it for the weight savings. To me I could have gotten the zx-6r but wanted the more relaxed ergos. Next step is lithium battery before spending far more to save far less weight. Overall, I love the way it rides, handles, and delivers power. Since it will never have the power of a 600, the goal is to add lightness and get it down to under 385 wet. Figure that should make it a nimble monster.
Went Hindle full exhaust and velocity stacks on my 40th. Flashed by Vcycle. Love the way it runs and sounds now. But I might opt to switch the Hindle megaphone exhaust to full Graves titanium at some point. For any ZX4 owners from states that can get away with full exhaust on the street, I 100% recommend full exhaust and velocity stacks with Vcycle flash.
been watching quite a few blog the past few days, and I think I'm convined and hopefully get one this Friday...same 40th anniversary spec :) I had a 1992 ZX7 with same paint scheme when I was 19...I can't wait! thanks for the post! saw you post about the Supra as well! :D
I am a big fan of this bike. Small displacement, yet 4-cylinder and you can rev it over and beyond the skies. My colleague at work is about to buy a Z900, so if you make a comparison I will definitely show the link to him :-)
Glad you like it. I rented one for a day. Liked it a lot, but not an only bike proposition for me. Best enjoyed in small doses. The noise and lack of torque got on my nerves fairly quick. Also this bikes size and seating position are just too cramped for my size and age. For a fun all-around one bike setup the MT09 my2024 is much better imo, almost SuperMoto -ish, just with a stonking engine. Different strokes and all that.
@@KirkKreifelswhich is crazy because almost every person that has ridden MT’s says they are extremely comfortable. But I also found the seat uncomfortable on the MT09
Kirk, can you try different slip-on exhausts so we can hear the difference. Maybe start with the Yoshimura. I can hardly wait to get my 2025 KRT ZX-4RR next spring. I really like the look of the new KRT edition with the yellow-gold coloring on the striping. Looks much better than the 2024 KRT.
13:40 I agree with slip-on being the way to go. For me, I haven't seen a enough increase in overall HP with a full exhaust to justify the cost. Mine is also not a dedicated track bike. I have taken her three times. Once bone stock, once after ECU , and this last time after air filter, and suspension settings changed. Absolute blast!
The days of sloppy, choked stock exhaust systems and 15hp gains from a full system swap are long gone. Even the worse ones from now are stellar compared to anything from the recent past. OEM's have to keep their game tight and stay on their toes, otherwise buyers will look the other way and go with the next fastest, most powerful, most ( ____________) from the next guy in the same class.
I had the same decision to make.. I went to the ZX4-RR.. why? Lighter, easier to ride, sportier, higher redline, better sound, and just a slip on makes it a sound beast.
My only complaint thus far is that with my statue (192cm with 36inch inseam) I touch the handlebar with my knees in tight turns. Not an issue during normal riding, but it has catched me out a couple of times when manouevring. I bought it as a toy bike, I´m not going to fault it for it. My other bike is a bmw gs. They are yin and yang to each other.
You’re right. Kirk should NOT have ANY hobbies that are risky! Car accidents occur every second. HE SHOULD STOP REVIEWING CARS. I’m sure you don’t do anything risky man. I hope Kirk takes your advice and sells his Kawasaki and goes to live in a bunker. Burglaries are way too risky for real… stupid
Good thing you are the father of those five kids, oh wait nvm. He can do whatever he likes. If he truly enjoys riding motorcycles and he’s doing the best he can to be safe while riding motorcycles then he can do whatever he wants. Yeah motorcycles are more dangerous than cars but cars are still very dangerous to drive. Cant be afraid to do what you love even if there was decent risks involved, dudes not going to stay in the house forever just cause he has 5 kids and wants to avoid any and every possibility of getting hurt. Even then he could tragically become ill just staying at home.

Love the content. Actually, I just bought my krt zx4rr. Will be here this weekend. First bike should be fun

Mine is 54.2mpg on stock with 2k miles only.

@Josue-xr1yg zero issues. I think the 24s are fairing better.
@@jeffreybuchanan8836thank you for the fast reply! That gives me better peace of mind next season
Do vs. Ninja 500, 650. The street ninja bros.
I love the bike I’m happy with this as my second fuck around town bike!
It’s so smooth just about to put better tires.
Take it to the track and report back to us.
I dig this gave up my Rocket 3 five years ago. Was working too much, 6 days a week 68/70 hours a week. Enjoy the bike and keep up the great car stuff.

Love your videos, the ZX4RR has always been an impressive bike to me. You rode past my house in your video lol 😂

Kirk, please as soon as they come in country review: 2025 Yamaha Mt07 Y-AMT.
Thanks, enjoying your videos.
How well does this do on the highway for long commutes? Maybe 30 miles one way?
I don’t know what to do. I’m torn between this bike and the Honda CBR650R. Which one is best?!
Look at insurance between the two? Both good bikes. Get which one that speaks to you more.
the cbr650r would wreck the zx4rr. i just wish it has cruise control
I had the same decision to make.. I went to the ZX4-RR.. why? Lighter, easier to ride, sportier, higher redline, better sound, and just a slip on makes it a sound beast.
Personally id go 650r. That extra bit of power is nice and imo sounds just as good. And you dont have to flash to get full power.
The KX 125 of the bike world..
I’ve got the Kawasaki green tip on my zx4rr and it’s holding up fine for me. Looks way to good to replace it tbh, I’d just get it redone
It’s hard to see where you are bc so much of FL looks the same. My parents were in Vero Beach and my brother in Palm Bay

36 inseam holy cow. It fits my 29 inseam great :)
Im planning on tuning my bike as well,
What shop did you get it done at in Florida?
I removed the ECU and shipped it to Vcyclenut. However, there's a tuner in FL called TST and they can flash it too.
@ thank you kindly
Kirk get the r9 as an upgrade haha
How can you compare a MT09 to the 4RR? Please.
Such a sweet bike!
Very fast bike.
Sweet enjoy I miss riding never in New Jersey again
Ditch quad lock it sucks. Get Peak Design. It’s 1000x better and so much easier to use. You won’t regret it or look back
Nice

@dannygonxalez9011 cars are way safer than motorcycles. Very poor comparison. You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer. 🤣
