@Panda Bassist but Julian wrote all the music for the first two albums so he was more than "just the vocalist." So technically the signature sound most people recognize from The Strokes is Julian's sound. But still I'm not denying that all members of The Strokes are talented and have great solo work or other bands. I'm just saying that Julian did a lot with the writing and producing of the sound as a whole and not just the vocals so he had influence on Albert and all members of the band
Panda Bassist Don't talk if you don't know anything, Julian is not "just a singer", he has been as important to the band as Albert, he has done the most of the structures of the songs from the first album and has made all the lyrics too.
@Tommy Valley are you serious? Yes, AHJ is a very important piece of the puzzle but JC is the "genius"/driving force behind The Strokes' music. The other members of the band have said it, their music producer(s) has said it, etc. JC is the leader and wrote most of the classic Strokes songs. Also, never underestimate a vocalist. They are just as much of a musician as anyone. Their VOICE is their instrument.
Another phenomenally underrated song by Albert. Albert is one guy that I think solo is as good as the Strokes. In fact, his solo stuff is like the best stuff of the Strokes.
@@unshapenskateboards9468 Lol let’s see you make something better. It’s so easy to talk shit, but it’s harder coming up with a concept and following through with it.
Awesome song and video. AHJ is a true musician, not just a rock star. He is so talented and creative. Love him with the Strokes and without. One of my favorite musicians. Never disappoints.

Fuck, the flashback just come back doing this kind of crazy things 18 years ago with those teen loves. The video is perfect for the song, and the song is a masterpiece.
I just listened to this and quickly thought that the artist got influence of the strokes. I just searched it on wikipedia and then I realized that he is compositor and guitarrist of the band lol. Btw, he did a great job on this album, I love many songs of it.
I think that Albert must be writing my favorite songs for the Strokes because this song would be one of my favorites if it were done by the Strokes. I'd like to know which songs Albert wrote for the Strokes.
Jerome Tenorio Albert learned guitar with Julian. They both lived in the same apartment and took lessons from the same teacher. Thats why Albert's music sounds a lot like the strokes
this song reminds me of times of crock as a kid, when I let life just take me, live every day as if tomorrow would not exist, I love this trip inside my own mind. Thank you for making good music.
I ran into them filming this in real time, holy cow!! Long time fan of the strokes and my pals decided to catch a sunset at bong hill one day in 2017-2018. When we parked a really tall white van had already been there and when we got to the top a group was up there already enjoying themselves so we went to the bonfire site and one of them came up and apologized if they were bothering us (they so were not but it was kind to say something) and I asked about what they were shooting! The woman said it was a music video for Albert Hammond Jr and I had no idea what ended up happening to the video after that. It was this?? Love the result. Wish I would’ve said more in that moment!
I was gonna type "why does this song sounds like the strokes" than I saw the pic of the artist and somehow wasn't surprised that the guy with the coolest hair cut in the entire band made this. Good shit 👍
wow we got new awolnation, the neighborhood, super organisms first album, and I got these guys to listen to now too. I feel like this is going to be a great year for music :)
Man. I'm a massive strokes fan. And a complete follower of Casablancas. But I CANNOT get this song out of my head! I've been playing it and others who I've played it around (who care little for rock) are humming it too. Crazy. I've been too dismissive of AHJr. Time to binge.
i am starting to think that Julian wasnt the only writer in the strokes from the very beginning. this has strokesy sound to it, in a good way. coming from someone who loves everyone of the strokes equally. all the best albert!
this is my favorite music video ever, it totally reminds me of my past in the northwest partying with my idiot friends and meeting girls. it’s just so nostalgic man.

Matheus Leber can't believe it's 12 years since Yours to Keep. Remember getting it when it came out. I think Francis Trouble is now the best solo album and Yours to Keep and Momentary Masters joint second
Steven Cross Yes!! And it seems to me that Momentary masters and Francis trouble are more indie rock with a louder guitar. Yours to keep and Como te llama seems more quiet in a very good way
You can take Albert out of The Strokes but you can't take The Strokes out of Albert
@Panda Bassist but Julian wrote all the music for the first two albums so he was more than "just the vocalist." And Albert even uses the same mic effect as Julian, so that's why this sounds so much like The Strokes.
@Tommy Valley Julian wrote all the parts in the first 3 albums, guitars, bass and drums.....

Albert has so much good solo material

It runs in the family.
I think this song is a masterpiece and no one can tell me otherwise

Another phenomenally underrated song by Albert. Albert is one guy that I think solo is as good as the Strokes. In fact, his solo stuff is like the best stuff of the Strokes.
"phenomenally underrated song" this is his most streamed song on spotify right now lols
I think Julian's stuff is better than the strokes. people don't like it cuz its weird and experimental, but I think Julian grew as an artist.
@@jacob_massengale I really like Julian's solo stuff, too! He seems like such a real person and doesn't seem to put on airs which is refreshing.
This guy should play in THE STROKES!!

He is not worthy
SunnySangria it’s called *SARCASM* man!
His dad was in The Strokes!
C mon guys he plays in the strokes he is a founder he have been playing since the band started
I haven’t seen a more “Indie” video than this. So many cliches, but we’re all suckers for this kind of stuff.
Not really. If im brtually honest. This video sucks ass. Love the song though.

Oh yes! Almost identical! His father used to finish most of the verses with those vocal tones.
Who is his dad?

Got to be my favorite Albert Hammond jr song
It's sounds a little bit with Strokes and The Beatles mixed !! Amazing
Pues claro, Albert Hammond Jr. es la mejor mitad de The Strokes.
spot on actually
vocal harmonies actually really do sound like the beatles, and the way he sings is very Lennon-like
Marcus Rodrigues hahahahahahahahahahajajajjajajahahhahahau true
That band is called Guided By Voices :-) Ive read that the Strokes considered GBV their biggest influence
The main reason why this sounded like the strokes is because the drumming. Second is the effect on Albert's mic. The riffs are very AHJ.
Jerome Tenorio Albert learned guitar with Julian. They both lived in the same apartment and took lessons from the same teacher. Thats why Albert's music sounds a lot like the strokes

In The Strokes he make some solos, actually he likes me more than the principal guitarist, but the 2 are wonderful.
His solo on vision of division is epic, also, he plays the iconic last nite solo
