My band played 3 years with a kit like this. Then we went to the TDK-30 for 8 years. I had full control over the volume of the band and we could adapt to any venue and maintain a great sound without having to be loud. Also the recording aspect of these drums is amazing. As much as I love acoustic drums especially with a drummer who knows how to take care of their drums, I definitely see the advantages electronic drums can give you. Just think about the 11 years of ear fatigue I've saved!
I would of liked to of seen more of that double kick , however the camera always missed it . sounded like a double bass drum pedal to me. But ive only been playing for 45 years , what do i know . very good set piece.
I'm impressed with Anika's performance and style ❤️..... let's not forget the other artists involve in this track...esp The Guitar ,Keys and Bass OMG❤️❤️❤️
How do you even remember how to play these kind of shifting patterns throughout an arrangement like this!! Hats off to the musicians, skills, memory, creativity, understanding and counts. If there is a structure to learn this method of madness, I’ll be glad to know :)
Rudiments -> apply (distribute) those rudiments at slow/moderate tempos in many variations (right hand on ride, left hand on snare to quote ONE) -> practice improvisation by just applying those variations -> play the solo. Do that in many metrics (4/4, 3/4, 5/8...) and tempos. Now play ostinatos and metrics overlayed (Kiko Freitas has an amazing course in that matter).
nah,not to me.never heard of her,and bought it.regreted when realised how limited I was bacause of rack shape, and silly cymbal mounting(straight booms with balls ,thats it,no arms)if you planning to use double bass pedal it and knowing your right foot will be in the middle(rack gap for kick pad)it places your hihat pedal in akward place(next to your left foot kick pedal)way too left. That forced me to do hardware upgrades and get proper cymbal stands with arms and everything so I could place my 3 toms in line above and use this shitty snare(Pdx-12) as 4th (floor) tom and get pd125bk for a snare(way better) "Yeah, but why didn't you invest in better vdrums then on the 1st place?"Well,I owned better and more expensive in the past and I've learned that with some will and knowledge you can make cheap(er) kits sound way better than they suppose to.That happened with this kit,It's a beast nowadays and yes,I spent a bit to make it that way.If you're happy with what td17kvx is in its original form, good for you.I knew what I was buying yet I wasn't comfortable with
First time I’ve heard this artist! Geez just inspiring! Great playing Anika ❤ These kits have come a long way for dynamics now. I might be interested .
OMG!!!! Just simply one of the best. So gifted and talented. I stumbled upon this Roland edrum marketing ad featuring Anika Nilles performing and boy what a treat. Now we’re talking about edrums and she’s making them sound acoustic. I wonder how many people would be able to tell blindfolded? I’m not talking about you 50 year industry audiophiles. Then again probably some of you wouldn’t know either. Nonetheless she’s a bad girl making the music sound good no matter what she’s playing. Happy Women’s month Anika.
Always a pleasure to hear and see Anika beat the ever living shit out any given kit of drums. Just love the fluidity of her style of playing. So good on Roland to get her to showcase one of their midtier kits.
@@demonicsweaters Obviously you didn't see the word Prolific and Anika is more than just s Skilled Drummer thats my opinion and we are all entitled to our opinions 👍
I could tell right away this way massively edited. I mean come on , most of us watching are drummers. plus the high hat stand is moving all over the place. Not a very impressive video at all.
Love this performance. I do wish the TD17 had more natural sounding snares and toms. They still sound processed. The kit overall feels really fun to play. I usually end up midi-ing this a software library for more better drum samples.
@@vitalyleskiv3699 i personally wish edrum makers would just stop wasting money on modules altogether. Just give me the midi data, let ez/sd3 do the sound.
Sounds amazing! Could you please tell us if this specific kit sound is available in v2, either as a stock kit in update v2, or downloadable from Roland Cloud. This seems a very relevant question.
Wow, what a stellar performance! Anika is an *amazing* drummer. Drums sound fantastic. I wish I knew which kit she is using here. I'm curious if it's one of her 3 Artist Series kits that I just installed or another kit. Oh, great mix ... that's how I would mix a track if she was on drums 🙂
I'm thinking about buying one of these. Here's my question. I currently have a Tama acoustic kit that has a felt beater. Is that ok to use on this kit? I know that felt shouldn't be used on a mesh head but I can't find any info on what the kick drum is made of. Or maybe I can turn my current beater and use the plastic side? Thank you
GOSHHH I love that song! I do love Anika's new ''Fusion'' style, but I have to admit that I really miss the old ''Progressive Pop'' vibe, like ''Chary Life'' and ''Synergy''.
There are two absolutes that I know, without a doubt, will never happen. #1: I’ll never ever be as good as Anika Niles! #2: I’ll never ever waste my money on a set of electronic drums!
MMYYYY GGAAAAWWDDD!!!!!! I just wanted to hear the kit... i didn't know i would HEAR THE KIT!!!! Every beat. Every nuance. Ever high hat and snare ghost note. MMMMYYYY GGAAAAAAAAWWWWDDDD!!!!!!! The response on those toms and kick!! The dynamics on the cymbals! SHE PLAYED THE CRAAPPPP out of this kit!!! 0
I have the same question cause the td17 v2 has other kits that are not in the regular module im crying cause i want these kits hope roland releases some for the existing td17 module :(
She is amazing. And really doing the kit justice. This update sounds great!
Update? Is this drum model a new release?

What beautiful & uplifting playing! Those doubles on the kick are ridiculous!
I would of liked to of seen more of that double kick , however the camera always missed it . sounded like a double bass drum pedal to me. But ive only been playing for 45 years , what do i know . very good set piece.
Yup, I thought the same thing until I watched a couple of her kick drum technique videos. Single pedal. Amazing. I tell ya... kids these days!
Came for the drums….stayed and BLOWN AWAY by this girl. Absolutely awesome.

Never heard of Anika Nilles before. Wow! What a drummer!!!
Wow. Outstanding!! So happy I decided to check out this video. What a performance!! Great stuff
the footage is cut i think. The roland cymbal on the hihat rotates back at 2:00....
might just rotating a lot. mine does that theres no trigger on the other side.
Definitely. At 0:24 she hits the same cymbal twice, once getting the regular splash and then right after a crash sound...
My gosh.........astounding. Effortless and so intricate. Clearly one of the best drummers on the planet!!!!!!!!!! Great sound too thanks to Roland!

Practice, practice, practice, practice, and more practice. That's the answer to everything.
I love the chops!!!!! My favorite part of any song. And yours are SMOOTHHHHHHH.
GREAT playing by Anika! Well done, Roland! I'm a TD-50X user, but this kit sounds AMAZING!
The energy of this performance is insane o.O
Roland just showed us how to properly play our TD-17s haha
Anika just sold 1000 kits with this performance. Incredibly impressive.

There's nothing unique at all about her playing.
