Hello from Texas, I’m still hoping someday I can visit Japan, I’m 57 now so I’m not getting any younger..even if I never get Togo, at least I can enjoy these wonderful videos ❤
I spent two weeks working on Okinawa on a project at White Beach Naval Station. I really loved that place and if one knows just a little Japanese, the people seem very appreciative of that effort. It was especially cool going out at night enjoying the restaurants and the sense of safety. Super cool people and I’d love to return.

@@Chaser4906 I was stationed there from 78-82 and it was stupid hot/humid all the time except a little cool at nights/mornings during the winter months. Great tour. Happy to see how much the island has grown since my visit in 1996. Not to be a spoilsport but this video did not show one hottie! Not one single frame. 😮💨
Did a 2 month Pac-Af tour with a civilian top 40 band from Washington State. in '89 We stayed at Kadena AF Base for one week and played for the service members. I regret not having more time to explore. One night we went off base and saw cockroaches in an alley that were every bit of 1.5 inches chewing on a chicken leg. We also saw crows and were later told they were possibly Vampire bats. They claimed to have the bird catching spiders in the forest there too. Someone said, "If it moves it's probably poisonous." My absolute highlight though was eating Yakisoba for the first time at the A-Sign Tavern and watching the catastophic collapse of the Tacoma Narrows bridge on their big screen they had in the tavern. I was kind of missing home at that point and our band was from Tacoma. How odd...
I lived in Okinawa from 2005-2009. It's mostly recognizable but a lot of the businesses have changed. Looks like Sam's Maui restaurant is now permanently closed???
When I was in the USAF I was stationed in Okinawa I lived 4 blocks from Gate #2 Kadena AF Base. I paid to have my wife come to Okinawa first term Air Force had to pay for spouse to Okinawa but the Air Force paid to return wives to the US after our tour of duty was complete. After the first 4 years the Air Force would pay for family members transport in locations that were not combat zones.
I was stationed in Okinawa at Camp Hansen from 2008-2010. Great times in Kin Village or "sinville" like we liked to call it in the Marines. I plan on traveling out there again one day in the future. Naha, it still kinda looks the same.
This is nice, but I wish it has less tourist stuff, and more of the community outside those areas. Parks, temples, neighborhood streets, canals and lakes, etc. Wherever and whatever the locals do.
