I have never watched this movie until now, (never even heard of it!) but I will have to say-- this is the very BEST rendition of Lincoln I have ever seen. Kris Kristofferson nailed it! I laughed, I felt national pride, and my bosom swelled with tears and I cried when it all came crashing down at the end. Bravo to the whole cast! 🤗👏👍🇺🇸
Thank you a million times for uploading this movie. It was never released on VHS or DVD. I've wanted to watch it again for years and kept hoping someone would put it on TH-cam. You are that someone! Bless you!
It took a young man to take out the most loved American, Presidents life. As President, he was tested, disrespected, hated, judged, yet he persevered through all that jaoulsey, and persecution, most of it from his own congress. The loss of his children affected him as his wife yet he had his job to do. His belief in all things was to Unite one of the most greatest nations on our planet as One. A House Divided Cannot Stand! The American Civil War was so Sad, so Horrific, so Unbelievable!!! OMG!!! But thank God for this most Noble man though not perfect, but sincerely loved by so many including myself. I hope another Paramount blessed American, man or woman may demonstrate the same faith, honesty, strength, courage, wisdom, as Lincoln. No other since him sad to say. For he was and still is the most Powerful President, in my opinion. Honest Abe. Thanks so much for educating me with this movie much respect.
I've never seen or heard of this movie. Back in the 90's, I was a single Mamà & probably working either alot of O.T. or a 2nd part time job. Better now in coming across this gem than "nunca/never", lol. Peace be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
Oh gosh, I so wept when Willie, then Lincoln passed away. This movie is by far thee best version of our Best President ever, not perfect, yes he probably fell short, to be expected, however he accomplished what was n continues to be needed. Peace be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
I so wish Movie Houses would premiere Classics like as "Family Movie days/evening" or "Date with Family Classic Movies". I truly believe children would love these classics. IF only. I would love love to take our youngest grands. Perhaps other's feel as I do & a miracle blossom for our little one's. Peace be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
Omgosh, this rendition is focused on his family life, his love of his children, the limited yet very beautiful intimacy he had with his children. He knew the importance of keeping them distracted & the much needed laughter despite the difficult decisions of his position in such a time. I so feel for the 1st Lady, not being able to grieve fully with so much loss of her precious innocent babes. The wonderful life lesson via such a graceful manner the Seam Stress partook with our precious Lincoln's Son. He truly seemed to take to heart regarding the crude common manner of vernacular express
Edit....my phone seems to have a will of its own lately. "..the expression that was so cruelly imposed on American Blacks(& sad that now they use it among themselves is truly disheartening). I loved how despite the 1st Lady's difficult manner, she & her beloved Abe managed to communicate. Her frustration, I believe is due to the pressures, grieving inwardly, always worried over her brothers safety, so many others & continued losses of her beloved babes. It's sad that what he strived for "We the People" is not even a hope anymore for most. As we entered this Century, racism reared its ugly head & has sadly Risen every 4-8yrs. Padre God help us all 🙏. "Isa"
Thank you so much for posting this! I have a worn-out videotape of this movie, and I am so glad I have another option now. :) I wish they would put it out on DVD...
I served as the stand-in for Bug Hall, who played Tad, and Kris Kristofferson, who played Lincoln. Wonderful memories that swirl around the one day experience ... remember it as though it happened yesterday.
Ha! I was an extra in this movie somewhere. Haven't seen it since it aired inn The Family Channel. The interior White House scenes were shot in Centre Hill Mansion in Petersburg, VA. With the huge lamps in the Windows shining in artificial sunlight, it was well over 100-degrees in that place
It's kind of hard for me to watch both Lincoln boys as so spoiled and untamed, but I looked them up on Wikipedia, and apparently they were. Way beyond "kids being kids".
Its kind of weird having Tad remembering his father as a narrator as he died in 1871. Robert Lincoln would have been a better focus as he lived till 1926.
Max Power The interior scenes for The White House in this movie were shot at Centre Hill Mansion in Petersburg, Virginia. I think this mansion was used for several Lincoln films including," The Day Lincoln was Shot," and " Killing Lincoln."
The entire family was tragic. Tad unfortunately only lived to be 18. He died in 1872 from Tuberculosis. It’s suspected that 3 of 4 Lincoln children were born with birth defects, Robert being the only one without physical signs of it such as a slight cleft palate which was slight in willie but major in Tad which inhibited his speech. He was likely also dyslexic and autistic.
Easy to see why this film has not been generally released. Way to heavy of a subject matter to be portrait in this manner. It just does not fly. Sorry.
first couple minutes and i already don't like this movie.. why would you play opening credits with the song " The bonny Blue Flag"... that's a confederate song
My thoughts exactly. I've searched for years to find it. Since it was never released on VHS or DVD it is practically non-existent. Whoever uploaded it onto TH-cam should be canonized.

That's terrible, Chris should be rewarded for his portrayal of the greatest president ever
Abraham Lincoln 💯💖❣️😊
Such a great movie.....wonderful portrayal....and I liked the 3rd person narrative......
Wonderful man in everything he does!
He is part of the legendary group, with Willie, Waylon and Johnny and Chris
No wonder they all love him ❣️
Kris Kristofferson outdoes himself in everything he attempts!! He is amazing. Number one fan here!!
What a wonderful movie and a talented Chris Kristopherson

Lincoln: A great man. Great with children.
The ones that lived, anyway.
I haven't seen this movie in years! Thank you so much for uploading this!!❤❤❤

Omfg. Thank you for posting this. If I could give you money I would. I have been wanting to rewatch this for years!! Thanks!!!
You are a God! Thank you for uploading this!!
Bug Hall was such a cutie as Tad Lincoln, He was soo cute😍🥰😘

Robert Lincoln was a Harvard educated lawyer and extremely wealthy businessman.
@@steveshapiro326 secretary of war 1881-1885
Tad was closer.
Yes, Robert was not as close to his father, and he was away for much of this period.
Thanks :))
Lincoln's one of my favorite presidents!!!
I'll second that! I revere President Lincoln. What would Lincoln think of the current guy in the White House?
Lincoln destroyed more of the constitution except possibly Roosevelt.
One of my favorite ones as well and of course I like John F Kennedy
would love this on dvd
Does anyone know what house they used to film interior scenes of the White House? It looks like the same one used in "The Day Lincoln was Shot".
Max Power The interior scenes for The White House in this movie were shot at Centre Hill Mansion in Petersburg, Virginia. I think this mansion was used for several Lincoln films including," The Day Lincoln was Shot," and " Killing Lincoln."
What a good and depressing movie.

Kris is doing great ...
Kris looks a lot like Abe. Good movie, I remember watching this as a little girl.
Cool movie
thnx....
My dad was in this
Nobody knows that what might he become
Anyone know the piece of music at the end (1:26:15)? Is that a traditional tune or original?
Moxley Sorrel as Robert Lincoln !
Or at least the young man who played G. Moxley Sorrel in that role. Kieran Mulroney is his name.
Does anyone know if this is variable on DVD? I watched with my children when it was originally on TV. I would love to have it on DVD.
It is not. I got it from a friend from NZ after I had searched for a long to find it somewhere
...
tinsta156 Thank you.

They almost did the impossible...make Kris look almost unattractive. Or Kris almost made Lincoln come across as attractive.
Yes Bug Hall was the first to be alfalfa

Also a Union version:Down with the traitor and up with the Star.
