The only time I capsized during my first solo sail after only 3 previous times being on a dinghy, it was during beach launching HAHAHA. This video helps a lot thankyou
Steve S thanks Steve. Glad they help. Be sure to check out all the channel and watch again as you learn more. People tell me they see different things each time they watch. Try to remember the key learning points we put in the longer videos. Tim Sailaboat TV
Well we never recommend sailing alone incase of difficulty or capsize. But without anyone to retrieve the trolley if the beach is Sandy then pull the boat onto the sand. If it is stoney be very careful as this can scratch. Quite often there is someone who could take your trolley without getting their feet wet, but avoid sailing totally alone.
depends how deep the water is. Often beaches slope gently so pulling the rudder down just hits the bottom. We say to sail away slowly and then pull the rudder fully down
What if you don’t have a friend to put the trolley back up on the beach? Would you pull the boat back to shore just enough to beach it temporarily whilst you take the trolley up?
There lies the question. We suggest you never sail alone as someone to rescue in the absence of any power boat But if you are alone then yes, slide the boat gently on the sand…. But if it is pebbles this will damage the boat Happy sailing
@@sailaboattv Thanks. I’m not allowed to sail alone at our club (two boat rule), but there would rarely be someone to recover a trolley. Great videos by the way - really helpful. 👍🏻
I find your whole sailing series incredibly helpful! Thanks!

How to launch a Laser dinghy single handed......... ask your friend to return the dolly.
He, he, he - that was funny.
Yeah... It didn't address my primary question. Single handed launch... SINGLE handed.
@@frankjonestbaik its a little late but u could push the trolley back onto the beach using ur feet

So glad, I found these. That Laser sure is a pretty boat, are they available in US.
Yes absolutely. The laser is an Olympic class so should be in the US
Great video, thanks. Subtitles are going bad wrong from about 6.14 though
What if you're sailing by yourself? Is there any way to launch the boat with no one around?

Shouldnt you pull the rudder down fully first

We use old tyres to put the bow of the boat onto, as we often launch solo on rough beaches.
@@archiemartin9949great tip.
But how do you address the boat getting blown around?
A great demo for beginners ,
👌
Glad they help
