Thanks so much for watching (and again to The Safe Cave for the amazing guide)!! Since this video is approaching the same amount of views as the original guide, please consider checking it out (link in the description) and liking / subscribing / commenting on it!
As mentioned at the end of the video, it's so much fun to engage with fandoms, especially being new to the fandom, so let me know how you came to be a FEARNOT, who your bias is, and what your favourite songs are!! Hope you all have an amazing day ❤❤

I became a Fearnot because I am following the members of Iz*One after their disbandment, but even though Sakura and Chaewon are the members from Iz*One, I don't actually have a bias 😅 my absolute favorite Le Sserafim song is Fearnot (Between you, me, and the lamppost)!

      @yunny_0.0_bunny-rj3ts 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Unfortunately(not really) I had a very straightforward journey to the girls. I started tuning in as soon as their member introductions dropped, and I kinda got distracted during their debut era with other stuff, but then I hopped right back on the train during Antifragile era. That song changed my life and it’s still my anthem to this day! My fav songs are Antifragile Unforgiven Eve, psyche, and the super long song title and Fire in the belly. I love their songs so my favorites often change😂 And my bias is Yunjin! She’s also my ult Kpop bias💙

I became a Fearnot randomly. I was watching a reactor react to a group round up of new MV for Kpop in may when they came back w their new album. unforgiven was the second one and I was like 👀 “hold on wait a minute”. I’ve never listened to Kpop before. So that video I watched out of pure boredom and haven’t watched anything from that reactor in awhile. So it just popped up on my algorithm. Glad I gave it a chance and once I checked out that video out separately I went down a Le Sserafim rabbit hole 🕳️. Became a Fearnot pretty quick. 😅
The other videos in the reaction roundup - IVE: Kitsch , Purple Kiss: Sweet Juice, and I forgot the last one.
Idk what is it about the group but it’s the only one I can watch all of their content. I’ve tried watching I’ve’s content 1,2,3 IVE. But, my heart is with Le Sserafim.
Also, got into Izone and watched their content. After learning about kkura/chaewons former group. And then watching produce 48. 😅
So yeah I think Le Sserafim is my Ult group and OT5
      Izone a second Ult.

I became a fearnot because I was a big iz*one fan so I’ve been following them since predebut. My bias is Eunchae she is just such a happy pill plus me and her are the same age. My favorite song is the song Fearnot and Fire in the Belly very different songs but both amazing. Also one of my favorite songs is Love you Twice by Yunjin it’s too good

I've only just started the video but one small correction is that Iz*one was a project group only meant to last 2.5 years. They were massive and EXTREMELY successful in both Korea and Japan lol. At one point, they'd even had the highest (correction: 1st day and 1st week) sales for a girl group album before million sellers became a regular thing and broke their record lol. They were so popular and loved that fans even started a project to talk to each of their companies to convince them to extend the Iz*one girls contracts (they raised over 4 million USD for it, which was insane).

Thnx for giving this correction. I was about to do the same.
I'd like to add a little because Lauren said that "groups from these kind of shows don't tend to get off the ground". Plural. You already explained about the success of IZ*One, but I want to add that almost ALL of these groups were majorly successful (I.O.I, Wanna One, Kep1er, etc).
The reason why they don't last is because they usually get relatively short contracts.

Lesserafim is such an amazing group that other groups would often mistakenly called them seniors lol. I think it is mainly because of the presences of Sakura Chaewon and Yunjin for their experiences in various fields, but as a whole group too because of how much they've done in a year after their debut alone. It is insane to think about it actually.

nah iz*one was extremely popular, probably the most popular 4th gen gg while they were still active, they didn't disband bc they were struggling but bc the produce series makes groups with a limited time contract, they are destined to disband in around 2 yrs bc all the members are from different companies and they eventually have to return to their company to debut under them. all the groups from produce (i.o.i, wanna one, iz*one) were veeeeeeery popular and they all disbanded after the contract expired, it's just how it is.

  • @AmadanMath
    @AmadanMath 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +50

Yaay, the best guide for one of my favourite groups!
AKB48 got superpopular, and branched out. Each group's name is an abbreviation of their home base, and the number 48: AKB48 is based in Akiba (Akihabara); HKT48 is from Hakata. There's also NGT48 from Niigata, NMB48 from Namba, JKT48 based in Jakarta, MNL48 in Manila, and many others.
IZ*ONE did not struggle for popularity; they were the most successful of the survival competitions. Their popularity cannot be overstated. However, they were built with the expiration date, when all the members would go back to their respective management companies. Everyone was sad to see them disband, it was like a day of mourning in Kpop world. Lack of fan support is very far from being the reason for their dissolution.
Sakura once said that she had only one condition for joining HYBE: not to make her the leader. Also, it is unusual for the leader to be a foreigner, presumably since they have to deal with Korean culture, customs and people more than the others, and I assume it would be harder for a non-Korean to deal with.
She has since managed to wink. Kind of. :D
Oh, and it is SA-ku-ra (kind of like SOCK-rah, that "u" is barely pronounced in Japanese). Or KKU-ra (Korean nickname). Similarly, KA-zu-ha (I guess the closest would be something like CUZ-wah? Again, as Kaia's note said, that "u" is barely pronounced in Japanese), or ZU-ha (which sounds kind of like JOO-ha or even JOO-ah, in Korean). Incidentally, if you say "Kazuha" quickly in Korean, it sounds pretty similar to "let's go", which is a running gag.
HyeMiLeeYeChaePa is named after the participants: Hyeri, Miyeon, Leejung, Yena, Chaewon and Patricia. It is a fun variety show, all of the ladies are hilarious.
Chaewon used to be much more shy in the IZ*ONE days. She has made a conscious decision to be more outgoing and fun. I think she's naturally funny, but she developed it, putting effort into it.
Recently she made a mistake on a stage that might leave other people mortified, and weeks later people still tease her about it. But she took it good-naturedly, saying "As long as it was funny".
    She is my favourite member.
I believe Yunjin said she actually paid the admission fee for the university (or was it tuition?) and then got the HYBE call the next day.
There is a new Yunjin solo that came out since, "Blessing in disguise". All four are really good.
You are absolutely correct that Kazuha had a mountain to overcome, learning how to become more hiphop and less ballet in her posture and movements. A dance trainer was saying in the documentary how far behind the others she was. I am amazed at how well she managed to do it, and how quickly.
As they don't hide her misspellings, they also often becoming running gags if captured on camera. E.g. as you saw, since she misspelled 최고 리더 (choigo rideo, "best leader") as 죄고리더 (joigo rideo, where "joigo" is nonsense, but got subbed as "vest leader"), this is now one of Chaewon's nicknames. The 점프 (jeompeu, "jump") got turned into 정부 (jeongbu, either "government" or "lover") - no jeeps were involved but I guess that's the only way to make the subs make sense.
As you say, immersion is key. In fact, when Sakura participated in Produce 48 and became a member of IZ*ONE just several years ago, she could barely say anything in Korean - and look at her now!
Kazuha and Yunjin weren't in pain from spicy food, but literally hot food - in both incidents, the outside cools down, but inner part of the thing is piping hot for much longer than one might think.
Yeah, there's about 8.5 year gap between Eunchae and Sakura. Even more eye-openingly, Sakura debuted when Eunchae was _five!_
People sometimes look at the fearless concept, see members overcoming obstacles: Yunjin getting evil-edited on Produce 48, then bouncing around till she gave up on Kpop; Sakura risking her Japanese career to come to HYBE; Chaewon switching companies and starting from scratch as a trainee, reinventing herself in the process; Kazuha tossing away her ballet career... and one wonders, what was Eunchae's obstacle? I think I know: she joined a team of much older and much more experienced members, some of which she watched from afar as a fan. The members tell stories about how she was when she first joined: super shy, very reserved, barely speaking above a whisper. Look at her now... :D
Eunchae wins almost everything. She's second in video games, after Sakura. She is also quite good at dancing, and knows an unbelievable amount of other groups' choreographies. And she is so genuine, one can't help loving her, like a little sister or a daughter. My second favourite member.
She and Chaewon are basically like kid sisters, always teasing each other; Sakura is like a second mother to her. She's really the heart of Le Sserafim. Also, she is always seen snacking or eating. It is nice to see :)
None of them is a rapper, really. Some of their songs have some rap verse, and it seemed it would be Kazuha who would be in charge of rapping, but in Unforgiven it was Yunjin and Sakura who got the bars.
A lot of the amazing performance clips were from their five end-of-year award show performances in Dec 2022 or Jan 2023, at SBS, KBS, MAMA, MMA and AAA. Those are some of my favourite performaces (only eclipsed by (G)I-DLE on Queendom). Most of them had either partially or completely new choreographies, many with remixed audio, and they had to prepare them in an already packed schedule; I have no clue how they managed that, but the result was very impressive. Let me say it again, because that's how impressed I am: they did five performances in one month that were all different from each other, and from the things they had done before.

IZ*ONE back then was as strong as TWICE and BLACKPINK. probably the most successful produce group
IZ*ONE set the first ever first day album sale on hanteo with 300k+ sales with their first full album BLOOM*IZ. literally an SSS+ Tier album.
if you ever ran out of things to react to. I highly recommend. going back their roots, Le sserafim's sakura and chaewons, IVE's Yujin and Wonyoung, even the members that went solo after, Eunbi, Yena, Chaeyeon(ITZY Chaeryeong's sister), Yuri
you'll see a different side of them. They look like a huge family there with 12 members. and they still support each other to this day and sometimes hang around.

Most survival shows that feature trainees from different agencies are meant to be temporary & the idols will return to their original agency at the end of the groups promotions. However with groups like twice which was formed thru the survival show sixteen it was a jyp show featuring only jyp trainees
Izone was very successful & popular but from the beginning were only meant to promote as a group for a limited time.

I'm also trying to decide these days if I want to properly stan Le Sserafim, so this was a lot of fun. I don't have extra info to add except on Japanese pronunciation because I do speak the language.
So, _technically,_ Japanese is an unaccented language, meaning there is no actual syllable stress. Every syllable in the language has the same exact weight. So if you want to pronounce Sakura and Kazuha correctly, the most accurate way to do it would be to practice saying each syllable slowly with the same weight and gradually speed up until you can flow through the word. Pitching your whole voice up _just_ a little bit and trying to make it resonate higher in the back of your throat will help, since that's kind of where Japanese lives.
If you don't feel like being that intense about it (understandably lmao), you can get pretty damn close to the correct pronunciation if you emphasize the first syllable of the word and just let the rest flow as quickly as possible. SA-kura and KA-zu(h)a.
Keep in mind the Japanse "u" sound is different than in English. If you catch your upper lip moving or your lips pursing to make an "ooh" sound, that's too much. You almost want to jump straight from the "z" to the "ha" and barely pronounce the vowel at all. "Ku" in Sakura is the same way. (Fun fact, a lot of my Japanese colleagues playfully poke fun at English accents by pronouncing the word as "sa-KOOH-rah" lmao.)

Mnet survival show groups are the most successful idol groups in Korea. I'm talking massive numbers, so many stans, so many sales but no matter how successful they are, contracts are never extended.
Only wannaone had a little extension.
The trainees all come from different companies so obviously the companies want to tap into that fame to build new groups like Ive,Cix,Ab6ix etc so they get full portion of profits instead of from just one member.
Sakura makes me feel proud. Seeing the powerhouse she's become in lssrfm in

The reason why Chaewon is the leader and not Sakura is because Sakura had a clause put in her contract that she wouldn't be the leader. She didn't believe she was suited for the role and was worried the korean age hierarchy would lead to her being the leader.

I'm sure someone else said it but Iz One was an extremely popular group which is why Hybe tried so hard to get former IzOne members into their company 😅 they could've kept promoting but their companies wanted to profit off of their individual popularity so they ended up officially disbanding. They were the most popular GG for a while along with people like Blackpink and Twice, their songs were played everywhere 💃🏽🎉

Trying to stan this group during whole alleged bulling scandal was the worst place and time to be
I personally will never forgive some netizens for whole this thing. They did her so dirty jumping on this hate train. Like girl was sixteen and they themselves bullied her to the point where she had no other choice but to leave. And everything happened because of school argument that happened when she was 12 or 14 (I don't remember atm)

A couple of other notes not covered by previous comments.
Kim Garam getting hated out the group is fairly well documented as being an utter failure on the part of Source Music. All the evidence is that she did indeed curse out a fellow schoolmate as a middle-schooler for that person's taking a locker-room picture of one of Garam's friends. That girl left the school to avoid the school's discipline for taking an underwear shot of a fellow student, and Garam was appropriately censured for losing control, but again she was in MIDDLESCHOOL, and she had no other disciplinary history. Source utterly fumbled at defending her from an instant hate-crowd that just chortled that they could influence Hybe and undermine the new group. It's an utter shame on the company.
What Sakura really brings to the group is that fact that she is a variety show monster and has a huge following in Japan. The 48-groups in Japan are essentially cabaret franchises in various cities putting on like 8 shows per week with over 100 young women in each group for a total of well over 1000 women at its peak in the various groups. For many years they had elections to select members to appear on an annual single where buying a cd essentially gave you one vote in the next election. Sakura came in 3rd in that promotion's last year roughly a year before Produce 48. That is, she was already famous in Japan. While in IZ*ONE she appeared on a Korean food show called Everyone's Kitchen with Ho Dong one of Korea's top 2 MCs. Though her Korean was relatively poor at the time, she easily bantered with and charmed both Ho Dong and the other celebrities, and she still has fun tweaking him whenever she encounters him. Part of Hybe's deal with her is letting her host her own reality show Fearless Kkura here on TH-cam which is a lot of fun. Ultimately, she will likely become a variety host in Korea or Japan after Le Sserafim, but she seems utterly content with her role in the group and will likely stick with the group for its entire run.

Actually iz*one was very popular! But unfortunately, they had to disband because:
    1. They had a temporary contract
    2. There were some controversy on the ranking of produce 48, resulting in the members of iz*one.
This group was very loved by the public and extremely popular....their disbanding was a sad event in the kpop world😭

AKB48 and similar sounding groups are japanese idol groups and the AKB or other letters stands for the city they are based in, like AKB is Akihabara (an area of tokyo) fyi! :) ploopy678 has a nice video on that

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. It has been so long since i saw this guide i had forgotten a lot of info. =0p I teared up at parts and cried yeah. Good guide. Very informative. Kazuha and Sakura rap. It was in the guide. UwU . Kazuha biased. Chae-won wrecker. Jennifer is 3rd. Unforgiven is my fav song. Love it so much. Because of it i looked into them more. I am still learning and still need to check out songs. The songs u like I am not a fan off. But Unforgiven was catchy and perfectly balanced. They are amazing dancers and singers. They also pretty. I do feel strong synergy with them. They have a lot of synchronicity actually. U will see if u watch the short predebut series. I am a casual fan but more open to them than i was. I get disappointed if i hear a new group for the 1st time and don't like a song. I tend to not give them another chance right away. So if i am in the mood I listen again and it's another dud for me it irritates me. So again I ignore the group. =0p I am picky. They have great staff. And each person works really hard. I am happy for their success. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟

    Pronunciation tips:
    - in my experience almost ALL Japanese and Korean names have the emphasis on the 1st syllable. So SAkura, KAzuha, CHAEwon, YUNjin, EUNchae
    - the vowel of the "zu" in Kazuha and the "Eun" in Eunchae is actually the same (ㅡ). It sounds close to the last vowel in "bottle" or "apple". So more like "eh" or "uh".
So, contrary to the guide, it's NOT Oonchae or Kazooha. That would be a totally different vowel (ㅜ) which is used in Sakoora and Yoonjin.
    - the "ae" in Chaewon and Eunchae is not pronounced like it has a "y" after it (like "day"), so more like "meh", "beh".
    Random info:
    - the 1 butt vs 2 butts debate was started by Oh My Girl

Ooh good tip about the Korean/Japanese pronunciation. I took several linguistics classes in university, mostly in phonetics, so patterns in languages particularly with sounds interest me so much!! It was IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet) I was reading to understand the pronunciation of IZ*ONE.
Fun fact: While there are more vowels in Hangul than in the English alphabet, there are more vowel sounds that exist in English that don't in Korean which can make it really difficult to learn, like the i sound in "bit", or the /aɪ/ diphthong (two vowel sounds in one syllable) of the i in "like". Although, as a Canadian, I wouldn't pronounce "like" that way because of the Canadian raising phenomenon, which is a key distinguisher between the American vs. Canadian accent. I'd pronounce it more like "luh-eek" and most Americans would more like "lah-eek", it's why when we say about like "a-buh-oat" Americans laugh at us 🤣
I could go on 😂😂 I just love language!!

    • @crispychicken9298
      @crispychicken9298 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@laurenclaire Interesting! Yeah, I think I might have a small interest in language as well 😊
When you say Korean (Hangul) has more vowels than in English, you are technically correct, but to me (a European) there are quite some Korean vowels that I wouldn't really count as different vowels. Like, if you already know how the ㅏ (a) sounds, then there's no difference to how the ㅑ(ya) sounds. So if you don't count these extra ones, there's actually just 7 sounds. Since you can read phonetics, I would suggest looking these up on how to pronounce them. I'll just write the most common romanization and an example which I think comes closest:
ㅏ (a) like in: ha (Gahyeon, Hwasa)
ㅓ (eo) like in: or (Gahyeon, Leeseo)
ㅗ (o) like in: go (Jihyo, Momo)
ㅜ(u) like in: do (Jiu, Sua)
ㅣ (i) like in: we (Jiu, Siyeon)
ㅔ (e) and ㅐ (ae): like in: pet (Yeji, Chaeyoung)
ㅡ (eu) like in the last part of: battle, bottle (Eunchae, Ga-eul)
Like you pointed out, English is notorious for the number of different ways the same written vowel can sound. They can be learned through tough thorough thought though 😉
That's one of the best things about Hangul: the vowels ALWAYS sound the same! So learn these 7, and you're practically done!
As consistent as that is, as INconsistent are the romanizations 😩 I still clearly remember when I realized that these names all had the same last sound!
      Chaeyoung
      Gahyeon
      Dahyun
      Moonbyul

In Japanese, the u sound is the same for all of them, so the u sound in Sakura and the u sound in Kazuha are the same, it’s just the first letter is different. But because you place the emphasis on the first syllable for both names, it can sometimes be hard to hear.
