I would have liked to have seen the video footage of you both carrying in that King Size Mattress out of the Van and into the House. It’s barely manageable rolled-up and I can imagine trying to maneuvering it around when it’s fully fluffed.

Nicely done. You mentioned a good night's sleep is most important when camping. You can get that in a tent. 30+ years we've managed. Now in a California & also fine. 6 yrs it's taken in your California to realise you need a mattress 😂👍
A thick wire mesh lighter than wood plenty of ventilation for the mattress and u can hang hooks and stuff from underneath ? Great looking project

Gadget John sourced some factory fit style side walls I thought they looks more plush than the usual tongue and groove stuff you see all the time

Would have preferred to see that longitudinal beam fitted down the bed center line of the bed frame . Would stiffen and prevent less twist. Just a thought other wise looks good .
It will need an MOT before you get to camp in it!

Would a perforated aluminium sheet not be better as a base for the mattress far more uniform ventilation and extremely strong once bonded to the frame.

I'm going to buy a van like yours but the bed will be west east with extention pods , that will give me an extra .75 m extra living space, North to south kills space ..
Don’t buy the same van as ours then as you can’t fit side extensions to a Long Wheelbase Maxi size Crafter 👍

Just used a generic one from Amazon but I can’t really recommend it as the catch to keep it shut has broken so I’ll have to attach a magnet to it

Great to see the van coming along. In terms of the bike storage when you taken the front wheel off secure the front forks on a slide out tray as in the video below, although it’s American all the same parts are available in the UK and I’ve seen them in a Crafter in the Lake District

No you’re right it doesn’t seem to be there at the minute. Not sure why. I can see their own brand brackets and they have their own brand strut in some other sizes but definitely seems to be missing. Maybe email them to ask when it’s likely to be back in stock.
