    Ford Figo is a popular car here in South Africa and what a strange problem I had with this one it was all related to water loss and overheating, I certainly learnt something new, enjoy the video, give it a thumbs up and thanks for subscribing, until next time Safe Motoring see you soon.

    How does everyone here know that it is "overheating"? My stupid Figo doesn't have a warning light for temperature. Nearly seized the engine because of that. Very poor design. Thank you for this great video. You are very thorough! I have a leak at the juncture between the hose and water tank - hose seems worn. But seeing this makes me want to check my plugs too.

      Hi Avi, I hear and feel you, but many of the brands have the same system, a blue temp symbol for when you start up indicating the engine is cold and a red one when the engine gets too hot, I guess it is a money saver for the manufacturers as a gauge is eliminated, thanks for your contribution and support until next time stay cool.

      @@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 thanks for the reply! Yes I misremembered the situation - there was a light that came on (almost) too late. A gauge would have shown something was up immediately. Happened while driving on the N3. So dangerous.

    Good day sir ... im doing the engine overhaul on ford figo i troed starting it once it was done but car sounds like its about to take and start but then it just conties to struggle .. im assuming its the timing ... ivtried the method with the locking tool however the motor stopped turning in both directions and couldnt do a full revolution... i tried a different method byvmatching the cams and then motor could turn as no valves were touching the pistons but still timing is out as the car not igniting... im not sure what i did wrong with the locking tool should the 1st piston be down? On the sprocket there are tipex markings should those line up before putting on the pulley belt im not sure could you please explain once locking tool is in at the back and motor is now tdc cams are inserted and lined up with locking plate in place how would i know the position on cams are correct as motor not turbing full revolution vales hits pistons in both directions when i turn by hand

    Hi sir thanks for a great video I have the same problem my car Ford figo is overheating ending up with fuming a smoke and the water turns back to water thank and up bursting. What is the main issue

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Intatheli, your car has a circulation problem it could be a thermostat stuck closed, a blocked radiator, or a water pump that is not worn, you may even have water loss due to leaks on the water flanges or pipes.

    Good day sir if i may ask What does ford figo temperature fan sensor kick because mine start at 105 degree and i think and believe 100 is already too high temp for a head cylinder

  • @tumelomothokoa5986
    @tumelomothokoa5986 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having an issue with a 2011 Figo, The fan isn't coming on when the car gets warm but it works when the ac heater is switched on, replaced the radiator fan switch (resistor) the problem still persists, also the fan came on when we unplugged the temperature sensor. What could be a likely culprit?

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tumelo, Clearly, the fan itself is not at fault as it works when unplugging the temp sensor as it should do, the fault lies with the sensor that actuates the fan when it reaches a certain temp. this is the one when you unplug it, it turns the fan on, so replace it. Good luck I hope you slove this simple problem.

    Question: i've never fooled around on one of those engines. Seeing that it has welsh plugs in the head does it still have plugs on the block as well? Why place welsh plugs in the head? Any idea?

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Doc, as you may or not know the reason there are Welsch plugs in heads and blocks, is because it is necessary when these components are moulded, Welsch plug holes are so the special sand in the moulding process can be removed when the moulding process is done, so in my experience, all heads and blocks have Welsch plug holes.

      It is self bleeding Niko, JUST PUT THEM BACK AND START THE CAR, IT WILL MISFIRE AND CLATTER UNTIL IT BLEEDS OUT COMPLETELY, USUALLY IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES.

    Greetings from Bergvliet. Wouldn't this be a Fiesta before it got a slight exterior design change and became the Figo, judging by you mentioning that's it's a 2005/2006 model?

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is correct, Joshua, same car different name.

    • @Preyser123

      @@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 Okay. Thanks for the confirmation. I personally prefer the Fiesta in the Figo shape because there was also a 1.6l engine option whereas the Figo is limited to a 1.4l only. I also find that the exhaust system on these 1.4l models to be quite throaty and sporty to my liking which puts me off a bit. I would personally like to do a sound comparison of a 1.4l and 1.6l Fiesta, both in the Figo shape and see what the difference is in terms of exhaust noise. I would imagine the 1.6l to have more of a deep hum compared to the 1.4l. Our Figo also suffered a water loss issue last year and it turned out to be the heater which was causing the problem so we had to bypass it.

      It sounds like you have a blown cylinder head gasket as there is water on the plugs it will not burn through water, you need to repair the cylinder head.

  • @AllThingsLifeWithSethu

    Hi Gary, greetings from Durban, my mom has the same engine and hers overheated, I'm suspecting the same problem, I will only know further when I do my testing, can you tell me where do you get a replacement cylinder head from? Was it brand new or second hand? And the cost?

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gerard, I was at school with a Gerard Orgil, I nearly misread your surname lol, I found a secondhand head at a scrapyard and had it checked out by my engineers for cracks and so forth, so it will be a bit of a hunt to find one, I could not source a new one at that time.

      @@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 thankfully the headgasket did not blow, it just slightly overheated and boiled the water, my diagnosis is the fan does not kick in, ran it up to 105 degrees still nothing, I even changed the coolant temperature sensor, fan still does not kick in, the fan only comes on with the aircon, any ideas?

    • @gerardogle1732
      @gerardogle1732 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries I managed to figure out the problem, the car is a 2005 ford fiesta by the way, after changing the coolant temperature sensor, the fan does kick on now, but to my surprise at 105 degrees, I guess the car was made like that, the old sensor the fan wouldn't kick on at all, great content Gary, keep it up👍

    If that car had no and or green antifreeze in the system i can guarantee you it contributed to the errosion of those plugs. The red/pink AF is a much better coolant for today's engines.

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, Doc. there was no antifreeze present therefore the internal corrosion, the water was a very rusty brown.

    Please don't get me wrong, but you are sometimes very difficult to understand in this video.
    In general, the sound is a bit muffled and has a bit of noise.
    This is to be understood as an indication and not a criticism.
    Warmest regards!
