That, young man, was *The 1995 Madison Scouts.* That, young man, is also called *SCORCHED EARTH!!!* I don't remember the decibel level, but I am quite sure there were people who have a permanent smile on their faces because that was the last thing they heard in the stands before they went deaf!!!! ☺😁
There's rehearsal vid of this show....the rotating front is very quiet....totally lost the energy of the show. The absolutely legendary crowd response at finals MADE that show.
Thank goodness for TH-cam where so many fine shows can been seen, heard and felt. I first saw the DCI Southwestern Championship back in 2000 and have been a fan ever since.
This show is the essence of what original Drum Corps style was all about, emotion, drive and the big sound. Your heart beat rate for the entire show could avg 160-180 ppm for the length of the show. In the senior circuit, it was common for guys to pass out at the end of the show from 95F+ heat and dehydration.
Since you play Mellophone, you HAVE TO react to 1988 Madison Scouts. The ending of that 1st place show has one of THE BEST Mellophone solos ever. Just watch it & you'll understand.
I want to add something young man. At the end when the video stops the people were still standing and cheering for 5+ minutes!!!! (That's an estimate.)
Played summer freelancers. Nothing beat the fun of highschool drum line though with the great Jerry Stewart as instructor. (Though, watching Blue Devils blew me away as a kid back then )
Now you can see why the 90s generation loves the company front drill that the 21 corps did:)
I don't even smoke and I feel like I need a cigarette every time I watch this show.
Homo comment.
The Madison scouts were WONDERFUL.!!!

I was a conductor and I could never hear the corps at the start of the company front because of the crowds.
Mid-90s scouts is unlike anything in DCI history. Pure brass and percussion power, and the most intense guard of all time.

I will have to put that on my list! Thank you for the recommendation!
This was a great show, but I think the 1988 show they did was better!! I think that was the show that hooked me on drum corps for life!!!

I saw this show live that year in Tulsa and it was amazing. Cavies were also there, so it was one of the best drum corps shows I'd ever been to.
The drum judge put us last place and cost us our deserved championship
If you brought a baby to the show, when they started rotating that company front would have been the time to toss it.
Excellent Choice of Show! Good reactions as always!
