I can see this playing during an opening scene in a Crash Bandicoot movie. The camera pans through the battered, empty halls of Cortex's estate. Then it starts going downstairs and explores his enormous, labyrinthian laboratories. Cages all empty. No longer do animals, mutants, or hybrids suffer in these walls. Machines busted and still sparking, test tubes and chemistry sets shattered, and robotic lab assistants torn apart and shrewn all over the place. Then we get into his refineries and waste disposal facilities, completely vacant and no longer operating. Further still, we are now in the sewers, long ceased of their constant toxic dumping. Exiting through the entrance of the power plant, we see that even more of the letters of 'Cortex Power' have fallen off the sign, and plants are growing back, reclaiming this desecrated land. Where has Cortex gone?
we even see the ruins of his satelite, once full of glowing portals is all empty doors to nowhere some doors have been seen flickering, but no one has ever tried to venture them the solar panels covered in dust centimeters thick, as 1 power crystal is still running and glowing as the time twister adorns it, as the numbers on the buttons have worn away the metal all rusted, all of cortexes colonies have also seen the same abandonment the futuristic buildings that were lit up, all dark as they cant get energy from the refineries, as everyone relied on N gin for oil even though the year was 3023 some can be seen fallen over, even in the past his pyramids have collapsed, as the doors to them have been covered by rocks and worn by sandstorms the factory of robot employees has now vanished, with them almost being zombie like then we go off of the island, we see his blimp still floating, even punchbot mark 2 broken into pieces his frozen nitro factories, they've blew up, N gins oil refineries? all abandoned pipes and tanks empty as all the oil has been taken refineries bustling with smoke now full of broken windows as desert life slowly creeps back, sea levels come back, the island becomes habitable again, as artifacts of N gins empire survive N brios japanese villages slowly become dark as no one but old potion bottles claim the place the bumba berry trees slowly grows everywhere making the place inhabitable, some people have seen candles on in some areas. bermugulas orbit has also fallen, as it was full of neon futuristic space ships is now space junk freezing in its void meteor mining facilities broken by the meteors themselves, as they werent maintained all these places too also reek of rotten crates of wumpa fruit, and nitro boxes that havent been defused, the power crystals, gems, and relics are still glowing in all this mess, as they are scattered everywhere miles apart N tropy is known to still be dying of entropy itself but after billions of years, bermugulas orbit slowly creates a planet, its habitable, after millions of years, continents shift, life comes back, an island forms back, marsupials out of pure chance come back same with humans, then one does tests, build refineries, makes his castle on the island hires other people, does tests on animals, with his bandicoot escaping the cycle continues

All along Neo Cortex has sent Crash through all his video game trials. Both Platforming and Kart games. All in training to be his world dominating General! What better way to take over the world... Then to train the one to defend it.
I love how you added parts of Boulder Dash and Rock It in between! I'd love to hear a full version of Rock It, this style would fit very well :) If I had to criticize something, the pizzicato sounds a bit out of place (maybe because I recognize it, it's either from Fluid R3, Timbres of Heaven or something else that uses the exact same sound)
Thanks for your detailed feedback! Yes, the pizzicatos came from a very old package of free soundfonts I still had floating around on my machine. They don't have a name, but are probably amongst those you mentioned, so they might sound a little generic by now. As for a „Rock It“ cover, I consider the original near perfect the way it is, so it would be kinda hard to come up with a new way of interpreting that song. But maybe I will do more Crash mixes in the future :)

Uhm... darkwave-y videogame synth metal? I honestly have no idea how to classify my music, but I grew up on the amazing genre mix anime soundtracks by Yuki Kajiura and Yoko Kanno. Both have a talent for slapping seemingly clashing things together that just end up sounding surprisingly epic in combination. That's kinda the vibe I'm trying to go for. Emphasis on TRYING.
