Sailor Zoom Nib & Architect Grind Nib

- Have a bunch of fountain pens lying around that you just don't use? One way to spice them up is by having the nibs modified by a nibmeister - there are so many options and it can give an old pen new life! It also tends to be more affordable than buying a whole new pen. I had two Sailor Pro Gear Slims with zoom nibs, so I decided to have one ground to a moderately sharp architect by Toronto Pen Company AND IT IS SO FUN. I hope you enjoy this video with a writing sample!

The side shots of you writing are excellent! Really helpful to see how to use a Zoom nib. Thank you.
I'm glad a came across this video. I just got a Pro Gear with a Zoom nib. I know how to use the Zoom, but I'm glad to find examples of people using it.
Thanks for showing the zoom nib! I definitely want one on a Sailor pen!
Agreed! The side shots are awesome. I wish more folks did this! Thank you.
Thanks especially for the side views of each nib in action! As a lefty overwriter, I have enjoyed stubs of several different sizes. Now I'm getting more and more interested in an Architect nib.
Excellent close-up camera work. Illustrates the nib grinds beautifully.
Lovely pens! The architect’s nib looks fantastic - thank you for sharing the demo.
Both beautiful, and thank you especially for the close up demos at the end of the video !
nice video as usual great details and the fun comments :-) keeps the video alive
Thanks for this. i have been wanting to see the two grinds side by side.
Thanks for the overview! I would love to see a whole paragraph of writing with an architect's nib, to get a better handle on the look it produces
4:47-5:51 says it all - lovely!
Fabulous nibs, Azizah. I had asked for a video demonstrating a Zoom nib, but obviously you'd created such a presentation already. The Architect blade is quite an unusual grind, but it's beautiful - what would I ask a nib Meister for if I wished to replicate that which is featured, here ? Both stunning units, tho' not overly wild about the pen body/barrel colouration - they're too much in (my) face. Thank you, once again for an outstanding demonstration !! :D
Very useful video- thank you!
good stuff as always
OMG I LOVE IT
Ooh that low side shot toward the end...that's your money shot!
Azizah, thanks for putting this together, it is really interesting to see a comparison of the different types of grinds and how they "behave" very informative.
Possible to do one with the infamous "music" nib? TIA
Love the architect.. I got one from a Chinese seller, but not so much variation.. next pen show..
What is your estimate of size for that nib on widest strokes (1 - 1.3 - 1.5 - etc)?
Cool!
You said you had the "smaller" zoom nib. I thought the zoom did not come in sizes. can you explain?
Beautiful! And what is that blue ink which turned to partial green???
I am also curious about that ink!
I think she may have had some green on her fingers from one of the earlier videos she said she had been filming.
@@WaskiSquirrel That's a good point! I have seen some really interesting Sailor Studio inks with wild shading that spans different colours though, so I wouldn't be too surprised if there was a blue that shaded to green!
Oh maybe. She used to respond to comments, but she hasn’t done it in a while. 😩
Just messy remnants from my finger, unfortunately! Must have been some leftover yellow somewhere!
Still would love to know what the inks are - especially the pink one!
Pilot Iroshizuku Kosumosu (pink) and Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-iro - I'm pretty sure these are what I used!
Thanks Aziza! And thanks for the video - love those pens and inks.
I would so get an architect grind but shipping alone would set me back something like 40 dollars. 1 way.
Well hi there. Do you have any plans to do more silent reviews? They are some of my favorites.
CHRIS LJ There aren't any plans currently. I want to, but I'm just not satisfied with the quality I'm able to produce. I just got a new pen, so I may just make a quick demonstration for it.

I don't understand what you think is wrong with the quality of your videos. You have a unique style of production and your writing is to die for. I mean c'mon, how many people can say they have made others orgasm by writing with a Rotring mechanical pencil, lol. Don't sell yourself short, you are awesome.
So the line demo seems like the zoom behaves like a fude - cool.
Stop it. Just, STOP. More to Want.... ;-) I'll echo the others: what is the blue ink that smears green, please and thank you!
I feel like she may have had ink left on her fingers from one of the earlier videos she said she had been filming.
