I was wondering why he was using an Epiphone? Christian's playing is amazing and he gets a good sound out of it for what it can do but why is he using this cheap instrument? I personally don't like his sound as much here as with other basses.
sorry , zo goed ken ik kennelijk de type bass niet , maar t was meer een verrassing voor mij om Mc Bride te zien spelen op een andere bass , dan de "grote bass die hij normaal bespeelt..... much fun
Lovely video of a phenomenal performance. McBride makes it look effortless as usual. If I am not mistaken I believe the wobbly background effect is caused by the camera's internal mage stabilization. Either that or space-time is indeed not merely curved but in fact totally bent.
Thanks for posting!! very funny to hear these Jazz stars playing out of their trademark sound! Scoffield playing the straight ahead Blues, no substitutions, Chris mc Bride , no upright bass, and the drummer playing like any rock drummer... All very nice, decent and all... they're much better at doing their thing, of course...
Our most view video. We want to videotape your band. While this was recorded with one camera, we now do a minimum of two cameras. Please contact us at 917 273 7883. Ask for the Flint Special.
The ironic humblebrag factor of the epiphone is kind of distracting, but the playing is great and 7:17 - 7:25 is some epic rhythm section badassery for sure.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover christian guitar video lessons try Skyarza Christian Guitar Star (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
Christopher Beall Yes I agree. Its the only song I used the Canon 300 on cause I wanted to try it out. As it was I was enjoying a picnic and not paying attention. Next time I will bring two cameras LOL!
+Mduenisch My camera has a mind of it's own... Some sort of Special Effect! I couldn't repeat it when I tried, Either the Image stabilizer was on or off! LOL!
Strange. lol I was curious, because at first it seemed like there was some sort of treeline behind Mcbride, that then looked like a stand-in of some sort. Was just weird. The quality is pretty dang good though, I'll say that much. :) Did you happen to be a decent distance away? I noticed at live performances, being a bit away for me is better than being near the speaker, because I want to hear the music, and not just feel the bass rippling my ear drums. Strangely, videos like these seem to do a good job at recording video as if close-up, but without overdoing the limits on the microphone/audio recording equipment, and then make for a mess of sound, like it's recorded almost straight from the instruments like an input receiver before the amp.
+Flint Gennari yes I was enjoying a picnic with my girlfriend, the rest of the concert I shot w my canon 70-200 f4 but this song I wanted to shoot with my canon 300 f 4. It is the only song that Christian mcbide played an electric bass on so this video is special in every way. Right now it has over 70,000 viewers!
Say fellas I'm not a professional musician but there's absolutely nothing wrong with Epiphone. I own an Epiphone Sheraton 2 and with the case, I paid $850.00 which isn't cheap. But I wonder really if spending $4,000 makes you have a better instrument? I absolutely love my Sheraton and I've compared to a Gibson ES-335 which is what I've always wanted but when it came to my budget and wanting a new guitar I played that Sheridan and I looked at it and looked at it and looked at it and I decided that's the one I wanted and it plays great sometimes I think Gibson is a little overrated. But nobody in their right mind should ever underestimate Epiphone. They're coming out with some really good quality instruments.
Then we have the other songs from the concert for you. All the other tunes he used the stand up base. We still have the rest of the pieces to put online....
Some friends and I got to talk to him after this performance. He said he picked it up just that day for the gig! It sounded better in person honestly. Then again, it's hard for someone of that calibur to make anything sound bad.
asf1187 yeah i def get it...thats what I was so shocked. The more I listen to it then more it molds and sounds fine..but the first time was a shock to my ears. No disrespect intended.
I think Christian McBride's mother must be doing the filming.
hahahahahahahaha
hehe, lets face it. hes a show by it self. got to love the dude
Michael Cookson.. Ha ha
lol,]..yep
It could also be someone planning a coup to steal his bass. Now in the action of identifying the target.
I like how the image stabilization brings out the true awesome of Christian McBride's groove warping space around him
Maybe someone shared their blunt with the camera. :P
treetrunker1 yeah I did LOL!
foobargorch shit, I thought it was mushrooms
@@fineartfotos you be bobbin'
And that ladies & gentlemen is how you make a $300 bass guitar sound like a million dollars! Much respect :]
I was wondering why he was using an Epiphone? Christian's playing is amazing and he gets a good sound out of it for what it can do but why is he using this cheap instrument? I personally don't like his sound as much here as with other basses.
grooving so hard the fabric of space is twisting
christian mcbass so nice man... looking good señor. happy you are doing your thing!
What a band, what a gig, Scofield was killing.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes they were terrific!
Thank you Very much. This is our most viewed video. I think because I shot it with the 300 mm lens...
That's how bass should be played. Still many people can't imagine how Christian McBride can be groovy.
finally somebody played a blues on a lp hahaha
Christian Mc Bride is one of the best bass player in the world maaaan
And Scofield is Scofield!!!
Epiphone bass with a bolt on neck, it's not what you play always, it's how you play it.
+S Hanlon sounds great to me
+S Hanlon It always about how you play it, especially the blues.
I played that same bass on the road for 2 years and loved it. It has Bartolini humbuckers and a really fast neck.
I was there with my younger boy, and a few good friends....great time !
Perfecto.
that is a bad ass bass solo.....my man is such a bad dude!
wooow Master Antonio Sanches at the drums awesome...
Oh yeah he was great!
Thanks Max. This concert was a marvelous experience! For a one camera shoot it came out better than expected... Thanks for your good wishes..
Thank you so much Bob, yes it was, I'm glad my video was so well received, I will def put some more of them online.
Man, Sanchez does a great great job here. "Simple" and musical.

Oh ya! Drivin ya to your soul, man!
He brought this bass just for this gig and this is the only song he used it on...

Ahhhh so thats how u do it , cheers
7:15 the drummer is attentive as a traffic cop, said with Mr. Scofield...love it
07:38, that's how you look at your watch in the middle of a solo. Christian McBride and Co. are great on this.
caraca véi! solos magníficos: feeling e criatividade sem perder o groove do blues.
Bass Boss.
Yes this was the only song all night that he brought out this bass for. It just brought for this occasion.
Killer.
7:16 wow

+Mike Norval LOL! yes I think you are right!
that John Schofield, he do like a lot of bendy things on the guitar
yep
he was playing the blues. his chops jazz licks would have sounded inappropriate. sco can play anything.
👍🏾👍🏾
Got some photos of you from when you played in front of the museum of natural history
Love to film you. Please invite me.
Wakeup call for all u gibson purists
If mcbride can play epiphone so can u
Would you happen to know what model this Epi. is?
07:15 The trains on the track going clickity clack, it's a powerhouse ride fueled by Scofield, Sanchez and McBride.
bro i can’t stop my feet
Thats a good thing!
Thanks for posting!! very funny to hear these Jazz stars playing out of their trademark sound! Mr Flint thank you for posting this!
Scholar work.
thank you , more of my work at www.MusiciansFotos.blogspot.com
Yeah and I hope it happens next time too, it's my best viewed video lol
epiphone!!!!!
Искал что-нибудь про корейские Epiphone басы 80-х годов, ничего не нашёл, но есть это видео, задорненько )
Yes. He just brought it for this gig and it was the only so g he played it on
hahaha, the video stabilizer effect make this video funny as shit!
Scofields like "let me get some screen time here".
yeah I wish I had two cameras going especially since I am a guitar player myself but I have plenty of him on my other videos...
Psychedelic
And getting into the groove.
Brought to you by... Epiphone. ;- ) They wanted to make sure they got their money's worth with that camera work.
They certainly did lol!

На данный момент он лучший бас в мире
Yes to whatever you said lol
are the guys from vulfpeck filming??? hehe
How a solid Epiphone bass can sound this good? Simple: just put McBride playing it. Do not you dare tof even THINK of playing the same.
kinda funny to see those 3 masterl class players to play "a simple blues"
I wish the video would have showed more of the band, not just McBride.
Please watch the other songs from this concert , They have want you want
Try as I might, I just don't get Scofield, though he's a legend. Great video, though. Christian McBride is killing it. On an Epiphone, no less.
i always love gene hackmans guitar playing
Is it just me or in this video did John Scofield look a bit like Grand Maester Pycelle from Game of Thrones?
The video cuts out Christian's right hand
The ironic humblebrag factor of the epiphone is kind of distracting, but the playing is great and 7:17 - 7:25 is some epic rhythm section badassery for sure.
Yeah he's all over the neck!!!
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover christian guitar video lessons try Skyarza Christian Guitar Star (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
Just curious of who put thumb down and why...
Good question
: )
:D
Would have been nice to see the band ,,,,good tho
Absolutely, show the whole band, or other musicians as they solo.
Christopher Beall Yes I agree. Its the only song I used the Canon 300 on cause I wanted to try it out. As it was I was enjoying a picnic and not paying attention. Next time I will bring two cameras LOL!
I was at that festival, great day for jazz.
twin at 8:00
The world was shaking
What's with the wobbling? Were you moving side to side, or was there a screen you were filming? Or was it toe-tapping?
+Mduenisch My camera has a mind of it's own... Some sort of Special Effect! I couldn't repeat it when I tried, Either the Image stabilizer was on or off! LOL!

Where the hell is John Scofield ? oh there he is nvm lol
At 5 mins it's wtf bollocks, that moment when you run out of road you guessed would be there

The blues is the blues
Turn your lights down low...

man I love Mcbride...but uhh hate the tone of that Epiphone bass.
man it sounds fine to me... wonder if you'd still say that if you couldnt see what bass he was playing
Maximillian Newman it does? ..nah not to me. I'm such a Fender guy pretty sure I could still tell if i didn't see it.
Then we have the other songs from the concert for you. All the other tunes he used the stand up base. We still have the rest of the pieces to put online....

once again Scofield proves that even the simplest form can be made to sound out of sync and complicated....Bloomfield he ain't.
+tonewall jaxon What are you saying? Do you like what he's doing here, or not?
+tonewall jaxon does he? Sounds simple to me :D
+tonewall jaxon Indeed, he is neither Mike Bloomfield nor Bloomfield NJ.
Hey man, you still a jerk?
