Man, those good old Windows parodies in Flash, I remember playing this as a kid. The behaviors, the look and all that good stuff.
Oh the Windows XP wallpapers, tho. I rate a 10/10, you done a good job in resembling this parody.
You turned Windows RG into reality. I am impressed
Can't wait to see a project based on Windows XP version 19.914.
It's way less possible, but doable. I'm not planning to make it yet.
me too
@@windestruct Understandable. Still like the project nonetheless.
FLYING BEAGLE LETS GO
A cool project with a team would be recreating every lost Windows version as accurate as possible. Could you make a tutorial on how to modify Windows versions?
Recreating all the lost Windows versions would be very interesting, but it's very hard to instruct anyone on modifying Windows. I can say that:
- I installed the build I wanted to modify onto a VM first.
- I created all the custom programs in Visual Basic 2005 Express. This is where you put 70% of all the work (you can also use a different program as long as it makes exe files for the Windows version you want to modify)
- I also created a custom theme
- To get it compressed onto a CD, I used Norton Ghost and compressed the disk image onto a file. This works well on Windows 9x, but not on NT based versions. For that I would use ntlite first (even if it's painful to set up).
- A bit of elbow grease was required to get it cosmetically accurate and installable
- If you modify Windows' state on a VM (or a real PC), you have to be as close to the vanilla state as possible (e.g. no unnecessary drivers, only required programs that are not virtual machine specific)
If someone is computer literate enough to do all of this, I think that's enough information.
@@windestruct Thanks for the info! I may try it in the near future.
to be honest, I would rate this 10/10 stars, no one has did this the past years lol (btw I liked this video)
ikr, btw i disliked
@@SayMyName-cb2ht why I may ask?
@@windestruct Lol im just kidding, only said that because there are no dislikes
ahhh yes, I remember this from Newgrounds
amazing
windows really good editon. better then win11
i would not eat food from ordering from that OS
Imagine if this was installed on a physical old computer.
That would be funny.
You turn on a pc expecting something like Windows 98 and then WINDOWS RG pops up instead.
"hey can I use your pc?"
"yeah, sure bro"
*turns it on* "wait a minute..."
I have an old Pentium 4-class PC, I could give it a try there.
@@jaezuPlease upload a video if you manage to get it up and running
@@windestruct Preparation's done, I'll post an update when I get to actually filming.
good
could you make a tutorial on how to install this os?, for some reason i keep on getting problems when trying to install it, just errors out in the symatec ghost part of the setup, keeps on giving out an error about an application error with code 10008 (i used vmware)
It has to do something with the hard drive image being corrupted. Please partition and scan the drive using supplied tools. I may upload an unlisted video on how to do it if you still find problems. If partitioning and scanning doesn't work, delete the image and make another.
@@windestruct are you able to upload the unlisted video?, since i dont really know if im doing things right.
i’ve used fdisk and the format command to create the drive and format it, but how am i supposed to scan it?
Try fdisk+format first, then scandisk and then pqmagic. You can open scandisk after that to re-check
@@NotReallyHype scandisk location is in D:/SCANDISK.EXE
@@NotReallyHype type scandisk : (for example scandisk C:)
What software did you use?
I used 86box and transferred the programs to it that I made using vb 2005 Express with the help of ISOs and floppy disks. I also modified some dlls using Resource Hacker and Microangelo Librarian. Finally I imaged everything with Norton Ghost. Also did some minor tweaks in the operating system itself.
It worked on PCem, with Slot 1 Pentium II/450 configuration, 512 MB RAM. it's still extremely slow tho.
also, this quite inspired me to turn windows abc by Matty2-and-a-half into a real system
Well, emulators tend to be a lot slower than hypervisors, but that's their nature. Every component like CPU, graphics card, sound card have to be emulated which consunes processing power. Let me know if you finish the modification
@@windestruct will try it on virtualbox instead
for the Windows ABC project, I'm currently working on the programs for it.
how i can download this. the page says its busy when trying to download
It's a known issue with archive org. Try again now
How much time did it take you to make this?
Few months. To be honest, it took me almost a year, but that's because it was on hold for a long time.
@@windestruct well you did a great job on trying to recreate it!
Ok, but can it run doom?
Yes
windows infinity when
Not anytime soon. I would have to know how to display error messages while booting Windows 8.1
@@windestruct the startup folder? well, not during the booting, but... y'know.
you even made the windows fu project which is a parody of xp
That's correct
since this is windows me the og flash version is acually better
(shouldve done this with windows 98)
But Windows RG is based off Windows ME. Doing it with ME made the most sense.
