    Wow a full Bag fitting in one day, I'm impressed!👍
    I usually split my fittings over several weeks, to make sure that my fatigue isn't a factor.
    I would appreciate your feedback on the LA Shafts performance.

    Went to CC yesterday and got fitted. Ended up getting LA Golf AXS Blue across the board except for 3 wood where I went red. Picked up 20 yards with my irons and eliminated my hook miss left. I actually lost a couple of yards with the driver BUT ended up hitting a very consistent push draw to the right and I'll definitely give up 2 or 3 yards of carry to consistently hit the fairway. The difference was swing weight. My old driver setup was C9. The new setup is D6. Going with the new shaft increased the swing weight making it more difficult for me to deliver the face closed at impact.
    Equipment matters.

    Why all the barbs at Matt for spending money on shafts that may improve his game. He plays golf all year round, competes in tournaments and makes his living from a golf TH-cam channel. He's not an overweight, beer swilling, hack who plays golf once a year and thinks he's dishing out original pickup lines to a cart girls who's heard the same thing 300 times that day like most of you throwing the barbs. Of course you wouldn't pay that much since your life's dream in golf is to remain a hack. But no reason to begrudge others who may be searching for something that actually helps them get better and improve their game.

      Wow dude, deflect and project much? I don't begrudge anyone for spending their money how they want. My problem with this video is A- it's not for us, like he always likes to say in his other, more informative videos, this is entirely about and for him. This video serves almost zero purpose for the vast majority of his followers. And B- whenever I see videos like this, or sim builds, price is NEVER mentioned. Matt is not the only one guilty of this, but based on all the other videos he's posted, this is just disappointing and lacks full disclosure/ information

    Thanks Matt for being the guinea pig here. Shot dispersions don't lie. You practice and play enough that fitted shafts will make a difference. The average weekend player would benefit the most from a driver fitting. Both head and shaft. For the pros, just hitting one more fairway and one more putt per round means millions. For us amateurs, we enjoy the game more. Thanks again for great content. We love you.

      Club Champion is way overpriced not worth the money if you are an avid golfer and know a little about what you’re looking for…In short, I got fitted there for T200s and they determined my best shaft was the LA Golf shafts too (LA Golf Tour AXS Red 85R)! Only thing, the club heads cost $186, and the LA Golf shafts are $145 each, plus another $35 each for puring, and another $10-15 to grip them! So, double the price…Had you ordered these same heads from Titleist, or any online retailer, and picked one of their standard or even fancy shafts, it’s included in the $186 price…and so is the grip…I wound up doing my own testing over a period of a few weeks at Golf Galaxy, having them swap out shafts with the same head as mine. Turns out, the best shaft for me is the Project X LZ 6.0…which is 120g…not even in the same league as the LA Golf in terms of weight…my clubs feel 10,000 times better now..and the funny part…the Project X LZ 6.0 shafts are a standard option shaft if you order these clubs anywhere else…OH! Forgot to mention, the “full bag fitting” price is $300, and none of that goes towards your clubs…it’s a separate charge whether you buy clubs or not…scam…

    Old enough and wise enough to know better. I think it is important to have your clubs fitted properly. In which you can and should do if you are an avid golfer or interested in getting better. Saying that I don’t think you need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to do so. It is all based off of your swing speed and or tempo. Swing speeds will determine your shaft flex, stiff, x-stiff, regular etc...Mizuno makes a shaft optimizer that takes 5-10 swings and that will get you in the ball park and you can narrow down from there. I.E. dynamic gold, rifle, nippon etc... same for drivers ; 3-wood , hybrids. If you are swinging over 110 mph you are most likely x-stiff, 95-105 stiff, under 95 probably reg but you have to go by feel and the numbers ( meaning spin rate numbers and ball speeds. That all should come with the purchase of a new set of irons or a driver fitting. And if you have the money and want to spend it at a club champion by all means do so but don’t count on it making a drastic change in your scores. At the end of the day it is the Indian not the arrow!

    Awesome knowledge. I’ll move on to that once I master set up, balance, tempo, rhythm, grip pressure and the “chip & slide”. Please don’t be offended by my sarcasm. I guess the mystery of golf is part of the appeal of the game. Keep them coming Matt. I am a loyal subscriber.

    I did the iron fitting 2 years ago and it make a huge difference in my game. The ball goes where I'm aiming. If you're in the single digit HCP range it's totally worth it.

    • @bt7075
      @bt7075 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Larry, I couldn't agree more. I think it's the 15 and above handicappers that probably wouldn't benefit as much from a fitting because they probably have more swing "issues" and really don't have a lot of control of their ball flights as a single digit golfer does. Me for example, I hovered around an 8-10 forever without ever doing a club fitting, but since I have I'm done to a 5.7 in a couple months and feel like it's going to drop more. I've never had more control of my golf ball. I'm mad at myself that I waited so long to get fitted.

Do your homework before diving in that pool…If you have any basic golf knowledge and know your own swing speed, etc, you should know what numbers are ideal for you and your game…

    Just for the record shaft and head combinations make a huge difference. When I did my fitting they had me hitting a TM 6 iron just over 190 yards. Crazy! The problem was I couldn't hit it straight. The dispersion was all over the place. I wound up with a set of Callaway MB PW-3 irons. It was just a little more than I could have got them elsewhere. Like Matt, my dispersion was less than half of what my well worn Mizounos were. I didn't do the puring. I went back a year later when my driver face cracked, and that worked out ok. I didn't see the gains with the new driver that I got out of my irons.

    I was told by an instructor last year that the only thing that matters is the shaft and grip. All the heads are user friendly..just matters how you like the look of it. He said golf company’s don’t have enough warehouse space to fit each specific person so all the golf clubs across every company are about or around the same as performance.

    I golf 4 days a week. The past (about) 6 months I have noticed my distance with my irons falling off. I normally play my 7 iron out to about 153 yds. My last fitting (3 years ago) still had me in steel stiff shafts.I went in for new irons and fitting. I liked the feel and look of the Titleist T200’s. They set up a 7 iron with a steel stiff shaft,,, results... just like out on the course I was only getting 125 yds!!!
    He switched me to a graphite stiff shaft... improved to 135yds with the weight savings of graphite,,, next went to a lighter shaft and picked up another 8 yds,, then switched to a senior flex and picked up another 10 yds and I can now say I am back to the mid 159’s with my 7 iron. It is worth every penny to do it right, and at 70 years old I can’t be happier with my game...

      @jimmyReesby 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. I was really glad you said you were 70 at the end of your post. Those are good numbers for a 70 year old. I'm 60 and still hit my 7 iron up to 170. I'm getting new irons and going to regular flex instead of the stiff I have played my whole life. Time to get my ego out of my way. Have a great golf season in 2022.

    Lol.... had a crazy experience at a club champion. Went for a 5W fitting. The fitted me for a Corba F9 Speedback for $600... I needed a $325 shaft upgrade😂😂😂 In my mind I said “ are you nuts”. went down the rode the next day to a PGA superstore... was fitted for an Callaway epic flash 5W off the rack... nothing fancy. Then went and picked one off eBay used with the same specs. Best club in my bag. I’ve heard many of stories like this with club champion. But go see for yourself.

    Shaft fittings are imperative. I recently was fit for my PXG irons, putter and vokey wedges. Also, was fit for the SIM Max with the LA Golf shaft and it performed unbelievably stable during the fitting even on misfits. Granted, stock versus high end shafts is based on preference and budget. The LA golf shaft was a few hundred dollars but to me worth the investment come tournament time. All my custom fit work was completed by the team at Club Champion in NY.

  • @KleyDeJong
    @KleyDeJong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding the swingweight thoughts at 5:00 - I don't really think that you should be concerned about too much epoxy increasing SW. You'd need to use some absurd levels of epoxy, or maybe if you're not using epoxy - to add the required weight for it to make an impact.
    I do believe that different grips can make a difference. Going from standard to midsize will mess with the SW some. Going standard to jumbo will definitely mess with it.
    I'd also say that shaft weight and length are very impactful variables..

      $350 for a full bag fitting, plus the costs of shafts and install. LA Golf Iron shafts he used have a retail of about $100 per shaft and the Tronos is about $410. The putter shaft is probably also the LA Golf (seemed to be a Bryson pattern) and that's around $250 maybe $300. You do the math.

      Don’t forget the upcharge to “pure” each club…that’s another $35 per club…And the LA shafts are closer to $145 at Club Champion…they don’t charge retail…I know, I got scammed by CC with the same shafts…funny how I’ve seen so many people getting fitted for LA Golf shafts…I played them for 4 months, swapped them out to Project X LZ Shafts with no puring and they hit feel and perform 100 times better.

I am curious to know if your fitting pro talked about spine angle on the shaft or not because i did not know about this at all until my relative got his driver fitting at our local store about 6 or 7 years ago. I am not sure if today`s shafts are more advance or much improved now that the spine angle is not important any more. Can you share what that is if you know or have heard of it? Great info on shaft fittings and thanks for sharing MSG!👌👍👍👍

    • @jimmyReesby

      I'll take a shot at it. There is no spine in graphite shafts. And I understand the steel shafts have a spine(welded spot), and that spot should be on back of shaft toward you. Maybe only graphite shafts are purred. But don't we adjust drivers these day through the shaft? Wouldn't that change the puring unless you kept it neutral and standard lie?🤷

    The entry fee for the Korn Ferry Qualifier in my town was $3500, so spending $5000 for sticks doesn't sound bad. I'm a 7-hcp so no sticks on the planet would get me to the +5 it would take to play those monsters.

    It seems to me that those graphite shafts are so much lighter than what you had (irons) that it will take a long time to adjust to the changes. I just put my set of Ping G10s with the graphite shafts in the bag last week because my back was hurting. I was so inconsistent, I am going back to my Eye 2s with the steel shafts.

    Just another question about puring the shafts. These new drivers are adjustable by turning the shaft. Does that defeat the purpose of puring? Think about that🤔

    Search for "club champion fitting" on google, you will see some people love it, and many people think it is a rip off. Fitting itself is not bad, about $400 for the full bag, but then you have to buy shafts, etc there, which is usually 2X of retail prices. Many people ended up with $4,000 suggestions. If you don't buy shafts, etc, it seems you just wasted $400 fitting fee. The other thing is whether your swing is consistent. For driver, do you always have slice, launch the ball way too high? etc. If you are still shooting everywhere, I don't thin fitting can benefit your much.

    Love this video! Can't say enough about Tim at Club Champion in Agoura Hills! Getting fit was a game changer for my game. I have dropped my handicap 3 strokes since I got my new set in July. Yeah, it's not cheap, but I don't regret it for a second. Money well spent.

Totally makes since if you make your living playing golf. Can’t wait to see how you hit em. Be safe!

    Its funny there is only 2 sides of club fittings - the waste of money and you NEED it and both sides are experts. I went to CC and got 2 fittings - wedges and irons. Wedges costed me 60 bucks to get fitted and the same price they would of if I purchased new off the shelf with a shaft, lofted to my gaps, and lie angle fixed due to a left miss. Went back, and since I was a returning customer waived my iron fitting fee and got mizunos with upgraded shafts fit to me and my misses for (read this carefully) CHEAPER than off the shelf. While yes you can upgrade to some crazy shafts there are shafts that they can get you in to at no upgrade fee. Just depends on the company you decide to go with. Now I get free trackman time, club tweaks, etc etc. All cheaper than if I were to purchase them off the shelf.

    • @DavidMossMGS
      @DavidMossMGS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can you explain to me the meaning quid vs pounds etc for English money talk. Pounds etc
      Compared to us in USA dollars pennies cents etc
      Always wondered

    • @Hegarz
      @Hegarz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DavidMossMGS Sure! Pounds is the name of the currency, so you pay for things in pounds. So this would be equivalent to dollars, the current conversion is £1 = $1.29.
      Then there is also pennies, so £1 is made up of 100 pennies.
      "Quid" is just a slang word for money, so saying something cost "a few quid" just means it cost a bit of money really.
      Hope that makes sense!

    • @DavidMossMGS
      @DavidMossMGS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @paqman78
    @paqman78 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not a believer up to a certain point. As long as a shaft is not senior or extra stiff, I don't care what brand or model it is. I'm not at a level where I'd notice the difference, or maybe I would but the difference wouldn't bother me. I prefer to focus on grips and the actual club head. Those are the two variables where I'd notice big differences.
