    I’m sure people will criticize the leg lengthening procedure. I was a group home manager for 14 years and people with special needs often have extreme orthopedic surgeries to help them with lifelong mobility issues. The truth is there are some professions where an extra 3-4 inches of height is an absolute necessity for entry. Every hurdle can’t be solved by adding a footstool. For example I saw a documentary on a teenage little person who was following in his dad’s footsteps as an auto mechanic. The extra height he gained made it possible for him to keep his feet on the ground for stability while still being able to lean over and work on an engine. He had zero regrets. It’s not just a vanity thing.

      @montanawhite5699 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Also sometimes limbs are different lengths, and they lengthen the shorter one to match the longer one. It’s up to the patient, it sounds terrible to me.

    • @overgrownkudzu
      @overgrownkudzu 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      yeah, i also saw one about a teenage boy and he just wanted to be able to play football with his friends and participate in everything. with the surgeries he was able to do that.
      same with arms, having short arms restricts a lot of movement and independence, or it can do so at least.

      I came here to say this exact comment.. Shame on yet another school for choosing to bury the issue by isolating the girls, & failing to address it head-on through disciplinary action where appropriate, & supporting, embracing, & celebrating every young person in the school community. 2024, & schools still don't have a clue!

    • @magnus1001

      Here in the US most if not all schools say they have a zero tolerance policy towards bullying but let's be clear, there is still plenty of bullying going on. Bullies will always find a way to keep bullying. Isaiah was so precious! What a devastating loss for his loving parents. Their little girl is gorgeous. All of these kids are. Kieran has really been through it. 8 years of having his legs broken and painful daily adjustments. Good luck to him in whatever he does.

    I dont understand how mean people can be ,its really sad .
    Lets teach our children to love one another.
    Schools Should spearhead campaigns and put a stop to this bullying, parents Lets teach our children to love one another no matter how we look like ,its our duty after teachers to instil good values and morals in our children to be kind and be good people.Small stature is not a disabilty many can do all things average size can do and have a fulfilled life. They are part of this world and have a right to be respected and accepted in every society.
    They should not be tortured every day with hateful comments etc #Let love lead and we all have an obligation and duty to stand up for Whats right and do the right !! thing

Seek out those teachers ,other parents who maybe havi g the same issues. Look for community help like play groups and support for parents. There are many kids w anxiety in school so let your sweet girl know she is not alone. I can tell she likes to talk and she has a bright future. God bless your lovely girl!

I had 5 spinal fusions and 1 SI joint fusion, for each surgery he had to used special stairs. His height was not a factor, His knowledge about my condition and his bedside manner was. He is no longer practicing, but now teaching his techniques to future doctors ❤

    Most kids are mean to others that they find different no matter where u live.
    What sucks is when these bullies grow up, they see how cruel they were but by then it
    may be too late for the ones who were bullied. Some take their lives over it and others
    lose all confidence in themselves. Parents need to take their children around other
    disabled people when they are young so it gets them used to it and they can see these people
    are no different, just limited in certain areas of what they can do. JMO

    I just get so blinking angry the way society KNOWS it’s wrong, ignorant, cruel and actually pathetic to bully others. Society should not accept it! There should be tough punishments to those who bully others. If we say no, it should mean no! It’s not “just something ‘kids’ do” or “A part of life.”
    Its so destructive, ends in some people taking their own lives! The world needs to properly educate children, parents …all people so they fully understand what it entails and why in 2024 societies should ALL just stop it.

      but aren't the people with the condition the best judges of whether or not having another child with it is reasonable? i've never seen someone who knowingly/intentionally has children with huntingtons or EB for example. every human struggles and if they successfully grew up, their children can too.

      @@overgrownkudzu very true, but life can be tough enough without a disability added into the mix, and what one person can cope with another maybe couldn’t. • @ellad43
      @ellad43 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      She is obviously not just shy from the footage of her interacting with the other children at school. I am 18 and have diagnosed selective mutism and find it so invalidating that people dismiss it as 'just being shy'. Also it says she has a diagnosis which suggests she has been evaluated by professionals who I'm sure have a greater understanding of selective mutism and Nevaeh personally than you have gotten from a 45 minute documentary.

    • @overgrownkudzu
      @overgrownkudzu 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      shyness isn't the same as selective mutism. shy people *can* talk in front of people, maybe not a lot and maybe it takes some effort or will power, but they can. with selective mutism, they just physically cannot, even if they want to, and have no problem in other situations, which is pretty clearly the case with neveah.
      also one can assume that that diagnosis came from a medical professional likely psychologist/psychiatrist who saw more of her than 15 minutes of some documentary like us, so maybe lets keep the armchair diagnoses to ourselves.
