So accurate. Post-Covid, when I decided to really improve myself, I lost a lot of people. I can count my real friends on one hand.
I have never had friends. I had to accept it and just move on with my life. When I accepted that, I was just fine. The world did not come to an end.

When I look back at a lot of situations I definitely feel this way too not even going to lie! I think the majority of people we cross paths with are social acquaintances and a select few are actual friends!!
@DESLYNREDFERN Thanks for the love. I began to notice that I had a supportive, sisterly, and kind approach to friendships, and I was met with a lot of hate and unmatched support. I couldn't tell who had a distorted view of friendship, me or them. So, I just rolled by myself, and I was a lot happier.

Even with your party, I tell you once, if I don’t hear from you that’s it. See how quick they’ll turn around and act like you did not tell them anything. Is life busy, yes, however you’re grown, schedule time in to communicate.

So true. Those friends smile in your face, but stab you in the back. They were never your true friends. Some fall in that crab mentality and want everyone to be miserable instead of lifting them.
I don't get the idea of looking at someone an envying them to the point of hate/resentment. There's enough room for everyone and we walk our own paths and its more fun to root for people than hope they fail

Brooke you are absolutely right. That’s why you have to move in silence when you have plans and goals and about to put something in action. Not everyone is happy for you. Some friends/associates low key envy you and take delight if something you are working towards fail. Keep moving forward and walk in your success! I remember a 6:28 couple of years ago you were discouraged. But you hung in there and soared!!!!

I do meet some nice ladies, but I keep everyone at a casual arm’s length distance. I no longer share personal secrets or have expectations, because people can be very unreliable, envious, inconsistent, play mind games, competitive, copycats, passive aggressive, narcissistic, fake, cancel last minute plans, or talk behind your back & tell your business… I just have strong discernment & little patience at this point in my life. I’m planning my retirement & getting ready to start traveling the world & live my best life.
It’s funny when you listed the ridiculous excuses they come up with not to do something. I invited a friend to go to Myrtle Beach & she was all in until she heard she’d have to split accommodations. I guess she assumed I was going to pay for transportation & resort. Next thing I’m hearing is she can’t find a dog sitter. 🙄🙄🙄 😂 Guess what, I went by myself & loved every second.
A “friend” did the same thing when we planned a trip to NYC. I still went and had a blast!

I am Caribbean and like you, I have always moved in silence. "Friends" who may have "offered" to help when I have a setback, are nowhere to be found when I'm on the upswing. They have chosen to freeze me in time. I don't shop with friend, and I am very selective in what I share. Life has also taught me that the older I get, the less friends I need. Love these videos Brooke! Im glad I have a pretty good foundation so I didn’t experience that much lack of support however that jealousy was STRONG from some. It was crazy because I never realized jealousy could be masked as pleasantries. I always thought it would be direct and nasty but actually it takes many forms!
Oh yes - jealousy can be masked or hidden for a little while but it ALWAYS comes out eventually! And when you spot it....RUN!!!
When you have God’s favor, He will always make paths for you and direct your steps as you trust Him. Unfortunately, some people feel comfortable in darkness and don’t like His Light shining near them, especially from people that they know.
The enemy has really tricked some people into being this way when in reality, they are imprisoning themselves away from joy and love. When you can’t celebrate God moving in someone’s life, it’s time to seek Him for help.
But, some people are in love with sadness, so pray for them and trust God to handle them. If they are meant to be in your life, He will allow it, so keep your peace as He works it out. Enjoy your freedom from toxicity! 🙌🏽

@@MayaD773 I used to do HR. If you have FMLA & short term disability benefits, take it instead of quitting right away. This way you can go back if your other plans don’t pan out.
Get a doctors note and go to HR. You will get full pay because they pay about 75% of your income but no taxes are deducted, so it adds up to the same net you get now.

This is great advice! I think a follow up discussion on how to spot red flags/ early signs of jealousy and envy from friends and loved ones, would be really helpful. Sometimes when we realize these things it’s too late and there’s already hurt and trauma.

I don't have any friends. The last friend I had tried to k*ll in my sleep. No lie. We had a sleepover and she tried to smother me. It was so shocking and heartbreaking. She apologised and didn't even give a good reason for her actions. I just couldn't trust her again after that. 12 years of great friendship down the toilet. The other one (we were a threesome, I was always left out) just stopped talking to me for no reason, but they remained friends mind you.
After that incident, I've just been super weary of people.
All I have is my immediate family. I love them so much, they're so kind and supportive.

This is such a true statement that you made in this post, but what’s even more disheartening is when those very people who don’t want to see you grow or get better are your own family members !😢😢If your family / spouse doesn’t wanna see you grow prosper/ level up the who do you have left? This was my personal experience so I just had to learn to be my own cheerleader and just move in silence from Unfortunately some cases I had to downplay some of my accomplishments.
Overall, I just learned to keep my mouth shut about many things that were going on in my life.
Unfortunately family can be the absolute worst as well!!!!! I'm so sorry that you're going through this but you're def doing the right thing by being your own cheerleader and moving in silence!!!! Brooke, girl!!! I moved into my first apartment a few months ago. I finally did a moving in /birthday party. I got rsvps and stuff, brought all the food. Not a single friend of mine came. Not even a text. My cousin blocked me! The few people that showed up and the few people that called to say, I'm sorry, THOSE ARE THE REAL ONES. you've been right from day one. So mad because so much food and money was wasted.

This is a fantastic video! I’ve shared awhile ago how I lost majority of my childhood friends (all but 1) once I went to the military and leveled up in life. Sad part is that I didn’t find out how these ladies felt about me and my newfound success until I was in the thick of it dealing with grief from the loss of my parents. Much like you I don’t hesitate to cut ppl off who aren’t for my wellbeing because like you said jealousy is dangerous. Since I cut them off I came off of all social media platforms, only keeping LinkedIn and TH-cam, but nothing they could keep tabs on me for anything I have going on in my life. If you don’t like a person so much you shouldn’t feel a need to keep up with them so that moving in silence thing is a big deal for me when it comes to these ladies. I still wish them all the best because I wasn’t raised to be hateful or spiteful, but much like Queen Bey said “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper 💸” so whenever they see me, they really see me 😏.

A few years ago I lost a lot of weight and thru hard work I have kept it off. I was so happy and for the first time in my life felt like i owned my body vs. my body owning me. I shared my results on social media and I was surprised from the feedback that I got and how different some friends would treat me. It was something that I was not expecting and blind sided by it. I would even get threats from random numbers. It was scary. Jealously is real gotta be careful and if you need to cut people off do it.

This video is right on time!! I’m going through the worst friendship break up of my life! She’s been my friend since MIDDLE SCHOOL (I’m 38 now)!!! I just got married and we’re expecting our 3rd child. We were in a very low point in our relationship a few years ago and she was there all through the fall out, encouraged the break up, encouraged me getting in the streets so we could be single together…then promptly got a boyfriend less then a month later. I was good with that. Happy for her. When me and my husband started trying to iron things out for our kids she discouraged it. When we started exploring if there was anything there I was dumb (all while her and her boyfriend are making up/breaking up every week). When we got married, she was mad we did it with just the two of us and the person that introduced us as a witness. Made it all about her. When i told her I was pregnant she says “oh well i guess you’re just getting everything you want” with an attitude. I couldn’t talk about how i was feeling without her getting upset or changing the subject back to herself so I just let her. Figured she was going through a hard time so I’ll be her sounding board. Now, since i don’t call her everyday (as i said, im newly married, 5 months pregnant and have 2 kids) she needs to take a step back from the friendship because im not giving her what she needs. Am I wrong here? I’ve been replaying this over in my head for weeks now. Crying all the time
I’m so sorry to hear this! You’re not wrong at all! Your friend is jealous of you and you need to cut her off asap!!! I hate to be so blunt but your friend only likes you if she feels that she’s doing better than you. That is not a friendship. Look at the signs she’s showing you and LET HER GO!!!!!

Got into a new relationship and got married To a man who genuinely loves me and is nice and consistent and just wonderful to be honest and she backed off of me. It was odd! It was hurtful! It took me awhile to realize that she only is a friend when I’m down. We are no longer friends. Do I think about it her sometimes? Yes absolutely. But am I ok with us no longer being friends. I am. You need to let that friendship go. It will hurt and you will think of her, but maybe she wasn’t meant to be in your life forever. Best of luck to you!

I had a friend cut me off and I wasn't even doing nothing worthy of "leveling up", other than fitness but this happened after I lost weight.
Omg weight loss is a big reason why people get upset/jealous!!! Never underestimate the power of your appearance and how that can cause uneasiness and envy from others! A lot of people have stories of friends no longer wanting to be around them after weight loss! I'm sorry you dealt with that but thank God she showed her true colors!!
