LYRICS:
In paradisum deducant angeli: in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in
civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam
paupere aeternam habeas requiem.
(God’s holy angels lead you to paradise: may saints in their glory receive you at your journey’s
end, guiding your footsteps into the Holy City Jerusalem. Choirs of angels sing you to your rest:
and with Lazarus raised to eternal life, may you for evermore rest in peace.)

Fauré Requiem and other sacred music
John Rutter’s Gramophone Award-winning 1984 recording of Fauré’s Requiem, re-released in 2010 at mid-price. The first-ever performance on disc of the work in its intimate original version - famously re-discovered by Rutter in the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris after a century of neglect - it remains one of the timeless jewels in the crown of the Collegium catalogue.
John Rutter, English composer and conductor, is associated with choral music throughout the world. His recordings with the Cambridge Singers (the professional chamber choir he set up in 1983) have reached a wide global audience, many of them featuring his own music in definitive versions. Among John’s best-known choral works are Gloria, Requiem, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, and Visions, together with many church anthems, choral songs and Christmas carols.

Magnifique ✨♥️👼
I cannot hear this exquisite piece of music without thinking of my father. He passed away in December 2002 and a choir I sung with perfomed this Requiem the following spring. They are tied together in my heart ❤
One of my most treasured recordings. I'm a small-forces kind of gal and this performance of the discovered original version eclipses all others. I had the tape with me at all times traveling to and from grad school 4-5 nights a week 1985-90.
I agree. From the get-go, the organ motif and the choir sound much smoother and fuller than most recordings. Also, check out Rutgers own, "Pie Jesu". Exquisite. I was first turned on to Ritter himself when I saw a car commercial in 1994 and couldn't stop thinking about the background music. It turned out to be his " What Sweeter Music"..a Christmas carol. It's incredibly beautiful.
Thank you so very much for this music. This was te last music we played at the funeral for my mother last week.
the same ... in 2010 :)
@@antoinev9733 strange how things work, you will never forget this music, I miss her still every day, but this song makes it “lighter”. Thank you for you’re reaction, and I hope that you have good memories of her.
@@F1sara lighter ?? i am not sure :)
it hurts ... it makes remember that even living as a part in us, she's not "around" in a physical way still.
this so sweet music push on the missing of this tenderness she offered to us :)
then .. i cry every time :)
luckyly we know , she remains in us for ever
life goes on :)
@@antoinev9733 yes I know what you mean, sometimes when I just for example driving in my car or at the supermarket it suddenly hit me, feel lost en sad. I think of her every day, I have an old sweater of her and then I put it on , nber washed it, so her smell is there just a little bit after the years. But it helps me , I do’nt think it is ever goinig away that sad feeling of loss. In my head I have conversations with her. It is such a big loss, losing a mother. There is nothing that prepared us for this. Thinking of you. I wish you a peacefull night ftom the Netherlands.❤️
