The verse in question Q4:157 should be read in context:
"But they neither killed nor crucified him-it was only made to appear so. Even those who argue for this ˹crucifixion˺ are in doubt. They have no knowledge whatsoever-only making assumptions."
Allah aw surely didnt deceive anyone, it is the eyes and mind that want to see what they think they see, the very reason those who saw it argue about crucifixion because while some of them saw it, others think they saw something else. If the event was a stage or everyone seeing the same thing, surely everyone would agreed only one thing thus no reason to argue it in the first place? So the question "was made to appear" doesnt necessarily that Allah aw made them see, rather their own eyes deceived them.

Why are you reading the English translation if you both speak Arabic? In Arabic verse there is no "it was made". It says Shubiha which does not imply an Agent.
There are other people who do not speak Arabic that watch the videos too. It is important that those who don’t speak Arabic get to understand as to what is said.

The God of the Bible is the God of truth who does not deceive but is the light of life and light of all mankind. But man is full of darkness and God allows men to deceive themselves and to be deceived by deceiving spirits.
The Quran states that Allah is the best of deceivers. Islam has no qualms about changing history. Adam was a Muslim, Abraham was a Muslim, Moses was a Muslim... These men lived thousands of years before Islam was invented.
But the word of God is preserved, the lives and messages of the prophets as recorded in the Bible.
And yet God allows men to be self deceived. But his word will continue to confront them, the words contained in the Bible that are proclaimed by Jews and by Christians.

Is Allah a Deceiver According to The Quran?
The Verse that some people refer to is the following (interpretation of meaning): “And they [i.e., the disbelievers] planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners” (Quran 3:54). This Verse is referring to the disbelieving Jews who plotted to kill and crucify Jesus AS, however, Allah was going to save Him. Christian missionaries and others try to translate the meaning of this Verse as “And they [i.e., the disbelievers] deceived, but Allah deceived. And Allah is the best of deceivers.” However, this translation does not exist at all! One can examine all of the numerous English translations of The Quran and not a single one of them uses the word deceit. The Arabic word “makr” used here means a scheme, a subtle or secret plan, or a plot, and it can be used negatively or positively. When the Jews tried to kill Jesus AS, that was evil, but when Allah thwarted their evil plan and saved Jesus, that was good. Therefore, Allah plotted against those who were plotting evil in the first place. So how can one claim that Allah is a deceiver for saving Jesus Christ AS and stopping the plot of the disbelievers? Even if the Jews were deceived, that doesn’t mean that Allah is a deceiver. Rather, this just means that Allah plotted against those who try to plot evil themselves and made their plan in vain. But since this Verse is often brought up by Christians, it should be noted that in the Bible, there are numerous clear verses that talk about God deceiving people, such as in Jeremiah 4:10, 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12, etc. Nevertheless, as one can see, deceit does not mean “makr” in this Verse, and that is why this fabricated translation doesn’t even exist.
There is only one God. His name is Allah. He is the God of all the Prophets including Jesus (peace be upon him) who said, “The Father is greater than I” (John 14:28). And in John 17:3 in the Jesus himself states, "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God," He also states in John 5:30, "I can do nothing on my own." Clearly, Jesus is not God and he was sent for a very specific people, the lost sheep of Israel, not you. If you don't believe me, please look up Jesus' encounter with the Canaanite woman with the demon-possessed daughter in Matthew 15:21-28 and Mark 7:25-30.
In Gethsemane, his prayers to God were rejected by God and according to Christianity, he was crucified. His will is subservient to the will of God. Matthew 6:9-10: Jesus said, "Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven".
In fact, the Bible condemns him as a curse for dying on the cross. Galatians 3:13 says, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole'". God cannot be a curse. Who is cursing God?
Finally if indeed he died on the cross, then Jesus is not God because God according to the Bible is immortal. First Timothy 6:16 says, "Who alone has immortality, dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen".
In Islam, our Prophet Jesus is revered and is not considered a curse. If indeed God is cursing Jesus, that would not be fair since he was an innocent Prophet (p).
Further, neither Muslims nor Jews believe in human sacrifice for the atonement of sins. Muslims rely on the Mercy of God, not the alleged sacrifice of an innocent prophet, Jesus (p) to atone for the sins of others who thereafter have no accountability and can act with impunity.
In the Holy Qur'an, God states in Surah 112: "Say, ‘He is God the One, God the eternal. He begot no one nor was He begotten. No one is comparable to Him."
