I KNOW! Aye..the business is fickle. Judy really poured her soul into this role making it completely different than Donna Murphy's original which is no small feat. But I wish she had gotten some kind of recognition for her work on this role. At least we will have a recording of it!
I wish I could forget you Erase you from my mind But ever since I met you I find I cannot leave the thought of you behind That doesn't mean I love you I wish that I could love you I know that I've upset you I know I've been unkind I wanted you to vanish from sight But now I see you in a different light And though I cannot love you I wish that I could love you For now I'm feeling love Like none I've ever known A love as pure as breath As permanent as death Implacable as stone A love that like a knife Has cut into a life I wanted left alone A love I may regret But one I can't forget I don't know how I let you So far inside my mind But there you are and there you will stay How could I ever wish you away? I've seen how I was blind And should you die tomorrow Another thing I see Your love will live in me Loving you is not a choice It's who I am Loving you is not a choice And not much reason to rejoice But it gives me purpose, gives me voice To say to the world This is why I live You are why I live Loving you is why I do the things I do Loving you is not in my control But loving you I have a goal for what's left of my life I will live and I will die for you This is why I live You are why I live Loving you is why I do the things I do Loving you is not in my control But loving you I have a goal for what's left of my life I will live and I will die For you
didn't realize this was Off-Broadway til recently. I just saw though that Ryan Silverman and Melissa Errico scored Drama Desk nominations, but none for Judy Kuhn, which is a SHAME.
When I saw the original production I found Fosca very irritating and unsympathetic. However, Judy's performance here is beautiful. Of course, for this piece to work effectively the role of Fosca should be male. Then, all those repressed feelings and longings would really make sense.
A definitive Fosca. She is spellbinding. She just illuminates the material. A conduit. What an artist.
There is nothing exactly like her voice. It has such texture and depth of tone, and her lyrical interpretation of a song is exquisite.
Agree with both comments! It will be her fourth nomination, too (hopefully!)
I love Judy Kuhn, Sondheim, Passion and all for 2:50.

The only problem is that this is Off-Broadway...but, I completely agree. She is brilliant. Perhaps a transfer to Broadway will come (and soon!).
I wish I could forget you
Erase you from my mind
But ever since I met you I find
I cannot leave the thought of you behind
That doesn't mean I love you
I wish that I could love you
I know that I've upset you
I know I've been unkind
I wanted you to vanish from sight
But now I see you in a different light
And though I cannot love you
I wish that I could love you
For now I'm feeling love
Like none I've ever known
A love as pure as breath
As permanent as death
Implacable as stone
A love that like a knife
Has cut into a life I wanted left alone
A love I may regret
But one I can't forget
I don't know how I let you
So far inside my mind
But there you are and there you will stay
How could I ever wish you away?
I've seen how I was blind
And should you die tomorrow
Another thing I see
Your love will live in me
Loving you is not a choice
It's who I am
Loving you is not a choice
And not much reason to rejoice
But it gives me purpose, gives me voice
To say to the world
This is why I live
You are why I live
Loving you is why I do the things I do
Loving you is not in my control
But loving you I have a goal for what's left of my life
I will live and I will die for you
This is why I live
You are why I live
Loving you is why I do the things I do
Loving you is not in my control
But loving you I have a goal for what's left of my life
I will live and I will die
For you
Much better performance than Patti LuPone in my opinión.

Did someone tell them that the composers name is Stephen and not Steven
omg if Judy Kuhn doesn't finally win a Tony for this performance something is DEFINITELY WRONG...

That would actually be amazing
