This is a brilliant demo/tutorial. I'm not a good guitarist (too lazy or career-oriented for huge chunks of my life) and I tend to find that now I naturally improvise on the top two strings so this upload is exactly what I need.
BRRILLIANT LESSON Pete! As someone struggling with learning the relationships between pentatonic scales and all the notes on the fretboard, this is so helpful. I shall be repeatedly watching this man so thank you thank you.
Pete, you are not only an amazing, astounding , intuitive, and natural guitarist, you also just happen to be one Hell of a great guitar teacher. I am earning so much from watching you. Thank you for being amazing.
Man I can sit and listen to Pete noodle on the guitar for hours!! Great lesson too. I'll be applying these tips to my practice. Thanks for doing this Pete.
hi pete, i have been watching your videos (along with everything you have played with andertons) over the past 4 months at work during the long, boring night shifts; And its down to you that has motivated me to finally pick up a guitar after 10 years away! my neighbours have you to blame for all the bum notes and noise that comes out of my house!!! keep up the videos to keep me busy at work!
P...eat!!! Lately I incorporate a lot of your tips and tricks into my playing and practice. You're one of my favorite players. Love the big fancy chords, major blues and the arpeggiated chords. I've learned a lot here lately. Great stuff buddy keep it up. Funny story, I was in a guitar store recently checking out some new amps. I whipped out that recent Mayer song you taught us and... I observed a couple of folks stop and look. One of the guys made his way over and without being acknowledged said to me "thats from that Danish Pete lesson, isn't it?" Cheers from North Carolina
I love this concept. I've been trying it two strings at a time (one string is probably way easier, I should have started there.). I've gotten so much more understanding of notes, and it's so much fun trying to come up with something.
You know I've been nobbing around the fretboard for years without direction ... now I have a little it's starting to make more sense all of a sudden. Cheers Pete!
Thank you very much Pete! I will take me homework and practice in more keys and see how much I remember on a single string of pentatonic. Thank you again!
Just found this. This is a fantastic idea! I love this lesson and the approach Pete uses for practicing getting around the fretboard for soloing. This is the most useful lesson I’ve run across in a quite a while. Thanks Pete!
Ha, Pete, I saw the "dp" in the upper left corner and just started laughing. You with your innuendos. Seriously tho, I love these vids. Can't get enough of your playing.
Does it stand for some kind of picking technique, like 'double picking' or something? ( I know there is no such thing as that) I don't get it. I just thought it stood for 'Danish Pete" .
Nice Pete. I've found that was the only way to memorize the notes of the fretboard, as well as memorizing the notes of the scales. The biggest struggle I have is transitioning from knowing shapes on the fretboard to knowing the notes. Thanks for the vid.
This is great! My playing was totally stagnant, then last year I got a Looper and have started doing this exact thing. Simple chord sequence, then just playing one or two string melodies over it.
OK.. So I put my fingers where for the f-note again? Lol.. seriously.. so glad I finally let this play through to hear your beautiful close serenade, simply lovely.
Thanks alot for posting all these stuff for us, Pete! You make guitar playing seem more enjoyable for people like me and encourages me to pick up my guitar every single time I watch your vids. Thanks much for your time posting and sharing all these, despite your busy schedule. Free and easy to understand guitar tuition... Jewel amongst the rubbish being posted here at the Ytube... Really ;-)
This really is great stuff man. Tremendous playing beautiful to watch and learn from. And very informative and useful info. Would totally love to see more videos like these, even if they were a little bit shorter to make it easier for you to shoot and edit and get videos out more often. Subscribed!
Keep up the good informative and soulful lessons Brother... I have a looper and find it a superb resource in finding your groove on original rhythms and scales. Go Pete Go... Cheers
Tasty as always Pete. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I always have subscribed to the idea you should always invest in others at the same time drawing from the knowledge of others. It helps with growth I find.
If I could take guitar lessons from anyone on the planet, alive or dead, it would have to be you mate... And I’m in a metal band 😐 keep inspiring the world with your playing amigo
That is the best lesson for lead playing I have ever had. Hey Pete could you please break down what you played at the end of the Epic Deal video on the Peavey ValveKing 20, you did a looper jam in stereo and the Captain held his phone up with "I heart Pete" on it. That bit had so much feeling to it, I loved it. Thanks for the awesome videos Pete.
Funny, i have been playing guitar for a long time - basic chords only. Never had the patience to learn the notes, positions on a fretboard so i stuck with playing these one string solos as the only impro :-) I think to combine three or and more strings that's where you have to start thinking about theory, notes... because its just easier to grab it like C shape or whatever... Especially when want to leave E minor pentatonic. Inspiring video, thanks for sharing Pete ! :-) Big fan...
Hi, Your tone is freaking amazing, love it! This was my best spent 20 minutes in a long time, just tried it out today and I just loved it. Så Danmark har mer än Carlsberg, Tivoli och en fristad ;)
Just started following you from Andertons your tone and feel is fantastic who needs to shred ,any chance of a lesson on looping ideas for beginner to intermediate players please and perhaps a video on you guitar collection ?
Great lesson and so much information I think I will be watching this video quite a few times. Thank you so much!!!! Btw when do you plan to do the lesson which is for another day ;) ?
Lot of melancholy in your playing, i guess you are not a major scales kind of guy ? Keep them coming, this is so great and inspiring for the rest of us.
Many thanks for this. Not long been playing. Am i right in saying the notes on the additional strings you play are the notes which belong to the A minor pentatonic?
Thank you dude. The reason the videos looks like they do is that they are all done when I have 2 mins to spare, inbetween editing Andertons videos... Also after a day of setting up lights, cameras, filming, editing, presenting, moving amps and guitars in and out the studio and all the other jazz, the last this on my mind is lighting the room ;-). But thank you for the suggestion. :-).
Great video Pete! Was re-directed to it from your “Lets Talk Pentatonic-Smoothie Time” video (10/1/19), also Super Great & Highly Recommended! First Off, thank you for: Sharing your Enormous Talent and Giving of your Precious Time to the less talented seeking your valuable knowledge! I’m sure you’re as an accomplished Videographer as you a Guitarist! So, take any lighting comments with a grain of salt! Was drawn to this video as a long time admirer of Django and Les Paul, early practitioners of this technique? A bit surprised no mention of them! Any thoughts? Finally, it appears to me, that the Tuning machines are Grover’s and therefore you’re playing an Epiphone ES-339, not a ES-335? Is that correct?
Hey Peter ! What is your feeling when you play a large and round neck like this Gibson , a Fender after and play finally a Duesenberg...I find Doozy' neck very thin and frets too low too , no ? After round 335 Gibson neck I am very disapointed with my Starplayer tv !!!! Thanks for your point of view and answer !!! Best regards from Vannes, France
To anyone else that's have difficulty playing the chords try it without the pull offs and other embellishments. You'll get it faster. Took me a hour to figure that out.
his ear for melody is incredible..
Thank you Bert. Best P
Dear god, I felt that emotion you were putting into those improvs. Dammit man I'm at work. I can't be seen to be weeping like a little girl!
Paul Endersby best comment ever.
Dude, you're so good. But you make me feel like I can be good too. The best kind of musicians are those who inspire other musicians!
This is a brilliant demo/tutorial. I'm not a good guitarist (too lazy or career-oriented for huge chunks of my life) and I tend to find that now I naturally improvise on the top two strings so this upload is exactly what I need.

Pete, I get the feeling that you're the kind of guy who could tie fishing line to a plank of wood and it would still sound great. Great playing.
Man I can sit and listen to Pete noodle on the guitar for hours!! Great lesson too. I'll be applying these tips to my practice. Thanks for doing this Pete.
Pete I'm at the cowboy cord, building calluses, watching Marty Swartz beginner level and it helped me, so keep em coming.
hi pete, i have been watching your videos (along with everything you have played with andertons) over the past 4 months at work during the long, boring night shifts; And its down to you that has motivated me to finally pick up a guitar after 10 years away! my neighbours have you to blame for all the bum notes and noise that comes out of my house!!! keep up the videos to keep me busy at work!
Pete i cried. You are an angel. So much feelzzz...
This is exactly what I needed! So helpful, Thanks Pete, tell the Captain I said hello!
You've become one of my favorite guitarists. Your tone, melody and style is inspirational.
Wow, this is a fantastic way to practise soloing! Thanks Peter
Thanks again for helping me stop overthinking music and realizing how simple it actually is. Lovely playing as always Pete.
Pete you are such an inspiration to a beginner player like me. I really enjoy these videos. Please keep them coming!
Thank you! This is one of the best tutorials I’ve ever tried. Seriously man. This is what gets people out of the box. Thanks

This is genius!! So simple yet brilliantly explained !!
Thanks :)

Just found this. This is a fantastic idea! I love this lesson and the approach Pete uses for practicing getting around the fretboard for soloing. This is the most useful lesson I’ve run across in a quite a while. Thanks Pete!
Excellent, thanks for taking the time to show us.
Ha, Pete, I saw the "dp" in the upper left corner and just started laughing. You with your innuendos. Seriously tho, I love these vids. Can't get enough of your playing.
Thanks man. And yep, all day long :)..
I thought it just stood for 'Danish Pete".
Well, it can stand for many things ;-)
Peter Honoré lol😂
Does it stand for some kind of picking technique, like 'double picking' or something? ( I know there is no such thing as that) I don't get it. I just thought it stood for 'Danish Pete" .
Brilliant video, will definitely be practicing this over the weekend. Thanks!
That's a great lesson, Pete

northof50now try using a tuner while you practice so you see the note as you play it?
Truely a great job man, now I am much less frightened to go through a scale and improvise over my looper.
Thanks for the free lesson, good sir! That was a fun jam I just did with you.
Pete great as always. Would love to hear/see you talk about the biggest influences that contributed to you style.
This is better than chocolate sprinkles on toast. Thanks and I really look forward to more!

Nice that you mention the Tim Pierce video, you and Tim are my favorite guitar players!

Just found your channel and love your videos. I like the way you teach the key points without all of the bumf and waffle!!
OK.. So I put my fingers where for the f-note again? Lol.. seriously.. so glad I finally let this play through to hear your beautiful close serenade, simply lovely.

Thanks much for your time posting and sharing all these, despite your busy schedule.
Free and easy to understand guitar tuition...
Jewel amongst the rubbish being posted here at the Ytube...

Another great lesson. Don't forget Carlos Santana became a rock god and his style is 90% one string improv.
Picked up a trick watching you on the Fender Mustang GT review then this... this is some good stuff.
You are the best Pete and one of my fav guitar players. Thank you for the super useful lesson! Very nice guitar btw!
That's awesome and makes a lot sense. I seem to say that a lot to you Pete.
Great stuff, Pete - subscribed after finding my way over here from your videos teaching the Captain...Going to dust off that looper and get to work!
This really is great stuff man. Tremendous playing beautiful to watch and learn from. And very informative and useful info. Would totally love to see more videos like these, even if they were a little bit shorter to make it easier for you to shoot and edit and get videos out more often. Subscribed!

Great video Pete. I'd love to see some lick videos and how to have fluency in your playing
This is so good. Inspires me every day to pick up my guitar.
Tasty as always Pete. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I always have subscribed to the idea you should always invest in others at the same time drawing from the knowledge of others. It helps with growth I find.

wow that opening jam was a bit too emotional XD had to take a break to go cry in the shower before watching the actual lesson :D
Hi,
Your tone is freaking amazing, love it!
This was my best spent 20 minutes in a long time, just tried it out today and I just loved it.
Så Danmark har mer än Carlsberg, Tivoli och en fristad ;)
Great exercise! Only way to improve it would be to play it on your purple Tele. Love it.
Great lesson Pete, could you show us some arpeggios ideas 👍 please Dom 7ths or something thanks

vjau75 he's always playing mixolydian/major sort of blues stuff on andertons.
dem feelz
Damn you and your great advice!
You did a lick in the Gibson 345 & 349 video with Mick at 1:25 in the video. I need to know how to play that!
Many thanks for this. Not long been playing. Am i right in saying the notes on the additional strings you play are the notes which belong to the A minor pentatonic?
Another great video, Pete! Just a little suggestion: You should put some kind of light in front of you so the video wouldn't be so dark. :)
Fair enough! :D

Hi, Pete, could you do some lesson on African guitar plaing, like soukous, Mali blues etc.?
Hey Pete, could you please do a gear video, about pedals you prefer and maybe some low budget stuff? :)
Why do you do this when I'm revising for a biology exam? Great lesson as always!
Sorry man ha ha..
penis goes into vagina......biology lessons over........NOW BACK TO YOUR GUITAR!!
Question. Getting back into guitar want a looper, amp is 20 plus years old, loop pedal or new amp with looper built in? Love this vid
Hey Peter ! What is your feeling when you play a large and round neck like this Gibson , a Fender after and play finally a Duesenberg...I find Doozy' neck very thin and frets too low too , no ? Timeless
