I live in western pa and all the dairy farmers have quit farming in my area I'm glad you are still dairy farming in Michigan I don't know what America is going to do without Dairy farmers in the future. Thank you for still dairy farming in 2022

I lived in Michigan for over a decade….great people in Michigan. What a shame…all that hard work evaporated.

Never met a bad farmer; everyone has been good guys. Farmers don't have time for games, straight shooters all the time.

Kip as you and I know there are lots of great people out there and have worked and planned there life. Things change in life and you have to adapt.
The man you talked to I could tell he was a mover and shaker no grass grows under his feet. I personally wish him all the best. Great video thanks Kip.

As an old guy I’m envious of you and your brothers as you farm into the future. Having a family team all playing the same game is awesome. Thanks for letting us follow you, your family and your farm. Keep on farming and I’ll keep on watching.

Kip. Great tour. I liked how you listened and absorbed everything without interrupting. It’s too bad someone else didn’t take over. But like Brian’s TH-cam Farm, he should be ok growing and selling without any cows or cattle. Thank you for carrying the milking tradition forward and finding the good in all the hard work. 👍🏼

I noticed in one of your old videos that when your feeding round bales your doing it the difficult way, if you will keep a cheap razor blade knife in all the machines you feed with then you can cut the net wrap on one side, raise the bale up, pull the bottom of the net wrap underneath to the other side, and pull it off the top, takes a little effort but not much, works better than trying to pull the net wrap off if the bale is sitting on it after sitting it on its side on the ground.

Good to hear you thinking of parlor expansion,it sure would speed up milking over your old side opening parlor and give you time for other things and may be add a few cows for future generations. Thanks KIPP

Awesome farm tour from Jerry!! You can tell from him talking, the life experience, and dedication he had into his dairy operation. He spoke proudly about it. It just saddens me to see another dairy farm operation just cease operation. It’s unfortunate that farming isn’t like many other careers that you can train for via college or tech school. Most people who don’t grow up on a farm never have a chance to get into farming.

Thanks Kip and Jerry for a great video !! You see so many farm operations change as Generations change, farming is a lot of long hour days especially Dairy farming and to many young people want the eight hour weekend off jobs and we all know there are days you don't blame them if it's not in there hearts it doesn't work 🙁🤗🙂❤️

Kip thanks for a absolutely great video.
Your visit to Jerry ‘s place I think I have his name right was ever so interesting. He had quite the setup and hopefully you can use some of his stainless which would be great for you. What you did get was good.
What a nice person he was. Kind of him to show you the operation. Sad he has no family to continue the cow operation. Really sad.
He should do good with his grain operation.
He is got it doing good already.
    Good man he is.
Glad you got some items off him.
Will be big operator with cows gone.
Kip thanks so much for taking us and showing us. So very very interesting.
    Thanks

If you are serious about the parlor, I would research the GEA take-off control boards to see what replacement cost is and availability. Seems lately the companies are discontinuing older boards and forcing people to upgrade. Thanks for the content. We sold our 700 cow dairy in January. 2 hrs straight west of you

Yes. The ones that do want to start can't afford it. I'd love to be able to farm/ranch. It's not sustainable with land prices, equipment prices, fertilizer, etc. Unless its a legacy farm for decades/century or a homestead act continuation, just not possible. Blackrock, Bill Gates, Chinese all buying up land driving prices up. Enough to make you sick.

I often hear of farms shutting down because of lack of help, noone to take it over ect... an I often question this. Could be because of where I'm from, but I see, lower pay, no consistent work schedule, or mostly no farmers want to try an teach anyone that's not imitate family how to do anything! I guess it's true, be born into it, or marry into it!!!

That's all good an we'll, but they never need ya long enough to make a living doing it! Then they say, well you don't know how to do this or that, so why keep you around. To this I say, teach me to do said other jobs you need so I can afford to be there for the trucking. I can't leave a steady job for a couple months of inconsistentsy. I suppose that's what I mean!
