so i have bipolar 2, and here’s the thing. bipolar disorder (not bpd, that’s borderline personality disorder, which i also deal with) causes mood swings from manic to depressive. manic state makes you feel like you can do anything and nothing is really in your way. most of us know depression, not feeling like even moving because it doesn’t feel worth is. bipolar sends you through both sides at random or can be triggered. bipolar 2 generally lasts for short amount of times, from hours, to days. bipolar 1 can be extreme and last for days, weeks, months. bipolar undiagnosed leads from 2 slowly (not saying it can’t be a quick change, but usually it’s developed) going to 1 and causes major mental problems. also as you can see he’s showing signs of other personality disorders in the movie (sorry, i haven’t read the book). also, this is just a rundown from somebody with one point of view and one side of a disorder on a spectrum, just like all others. i hope everybody is getting the help they need, it feels a lot better.

@@pia1945 movies don't have to be exciting in order to be entertaining. As long as it has a good and intriguing story it will be a good film. True stories and stories based on real life are rarely ever "exciting" but can still be intriguing and entertaining. That's why these kinds of films or shows are often called "slice of life".
Me neither imo. I've never been diagnosed, but I remember a point in my life where I was heavily depressed. And idk how to explain it, but it hurt to breathe sometimes. I'd go to sleep crying. The little thing would set me off and I felt like ended it all. It literally took all I had not to do it. I'd use other ppl as my source of happiness and when they were gone I felt sad again. I'd ignore my problems and be the "counselor" for other ppl while I was hurting. Nobody understood so whenever I tried to talk about it I got the "don't be sad" vibes. Like it's just that simple. On the surface I was just a regular hs kid. Idk if what I said counts as "depression" cuz like I said I've nbr been diagnosed and I'm not about to self diagnose myslef. But ik I felt smth.
I read the book before I was dignosed but I remember how heavy it was and how hard I was crying. Then watched movie and I didn't feel nothing exept irritation on it, cause this is completely different story that for me feels empty.
yep, the book was a lot better at handling those subjects, the main characters felt like real teenagers, but in the movie they felt more like 20 something year old adults.
The book handled it better. I remember when he mentioned how he could sometimes hear peoples voices in his head and i was surprised someone else has experienced that.
@@SailorDee don't. One of my friends has been writing on and off on a book vor about 10 years. 81 chapters so far. She will finish it this year. So have faith in Dylan 😁
The thing about Finch is that he was actually depressed, he just acted like he wasn't. He was "attracted" to voilet cause he wanted to help her. He knew what it was like to be depressed and if he couldn't help himself, he wanted to help violet
And not all depression looks the same or acts the same. Hes the tricky kind of depression, the one that people are always surprised by their death, until they really piece it all together.
i really liked the book bc all throughout finch’s chapters, he references the cardinal that kept flying into his patio until it killed itself and how he blamed his parents for not opening a window to let it in and take care of it. but he says that there was nothing there to make it last, implying that opening a window only drags out an inevitable end to the bird’s life. and i think that perfectly describes what finch thought of his and violet’s relationship; he is the cardinal and she is the open window. she delayed his inevitable end for a bit but he was always meant to die.

the folded clothes is such a huge thing, that was the part of the movie that was different from the book that really pissed me off, like even that tiny detail was a huge thing that showed finch’s feelings towards what he was doing and his purpose
@@eatwithfanny6648 There is so many reasons why he did it and the movie does not show any of this well at all. But basically, it is implied in the book that Finch is bi-polar, and Finch is always made fun of in school. He always thinks about death (which they don't show in the movie) and he disappears a lot. The book opens with Finch on the edge of a bell tower getting ready to jump when he sees Violet, who is also thinking about jumping. There are a lot more reasons that he does this, and the book gets more into Finch's perspective and how things kind of went downhill for him. It goes into his family life more, and the things that he thinks about. Like in the lake with Violet, he keeps on swimming down thinking about killing himself and wanting to see the other side, but then he remembers Violet and goes back to the surface. But he did well at covers his feeling from Violet and everyone else as well. It is honestly really hard to explain, and I suggest just reading the book because it is a really great book. You will get a lot of the references that are made in the movie and it will give a lot more depth to the characters and the things that they do and say. As Dylan said, they didn't condense the book well into a movie. But it is worth the read. (I don't want to be that person... but I am that person... the book was better)

Yesss, this! Imo they didn't even properly show what depression/being suicidal looks like from the outside. Its often not someone visibly looking sad 24/7 while whispering all their wirds. It often shows up as irritation/anger at the slightest inconvenience. Outbursts of emotion. And yes even laughing too hard, being too cheery at any given moment only to switch into anger/crying the next. The exhaustion she shows is not a bad portrayal imo but it would have made a better movie and been less one-dimensional perspective if they had given the actress some range.
Listening the Dylan talk about this movie made me think of this British flick I came across that Really got depression across for me. It's called Pelican Blood. Quite a few of the story beats are really close to that movie as well... it's a little weird. (What's weirder is that the main character of Pelican Blood straight up is OBSESSED with bird watching and the main character's name for this is Finch... which didn't help making me think this was a thing on its own. I know that's not actually a similarity though.) The main character of Pelican Blood is even OCD so he keeps things super neat. A lot of similarities with that movie, is all I'm saying, but Pelican Blood felt way closer to what depression is actually like.
It almost feels like mental illnesses get 'fetishised' in these sort of stories. A good support system, love and care are important to getting better but it's not the 'solution'.
The fact that the movie wasn't even close to how depressing the book was. The movie skipped out on so many details and so many variations that were actually really touching. I didnt even watch it because without those bits the movie wasn't great at all. They missed the entire bell tower scene which signified so many things. The book version felt more connected and had a really nice flow and the events actually had a deeper meaning behind it unlike the movie which felt like everything was put togather here and there. I remember crying for a week after reading the book
Exactly! I couldn't stop thinking about the book for a while back in time. And it was really special for me, because I was going through hard times. I wish I never watched the movie. But i waited for it for years. Actually I knew it wouldn't be like the book the moment I saw the cast choice for finch. And I watched the whole movie complaining about every detail they skipped. Ugh
@@tugba3415 yes the story connected really well to me. It honestly felt like I lost someone who I love aswell. But what can you expect. Most Netflix movies that are derived from stories and animations are terrible
Honestly! I only watched the movie and people were saying how good All the Bright Places was and I was so confused because even though I didn't read the book, I already knew the movie missed so much things! I thought it was just me who found the movie disappointing and lacking things.
Well depression isn't always about being moody or sad. There's this struggle between wanting to seem fine so as to convince yourself, and wallowing in it.
that's true. But as someone who has experienced it, I think a lot of movies fail to portray it accurate. They either make the character all dark and moody or so happy the audience doesn't believe that the character is suffering. The thing about depression is a lot of people try to appear happy because they don't want to alert or upset they're loved ones. During that stage is when one is looking for something to grasp and not let go So, someone might _look_ happy but inside they're suffering. In books, it's easier to describe it because you have the benefit of only using words to write a story. In big screen, it's harder and requires all the team: screenwriter, director, cast etc to be talented and to have a vision
@@md.johnson6181 hmm, personally I didn't like the portrayal of the boy at all. I'm not sure if that's the fault of the actor or the writing team 🤷🏻♀️
The book portrayed it so accurately and Finch's character is kinda butchered in the movie. They don't show how sad he is in the book. At all. As someone with clinical depression, I related to Book Finch so much better. He looks happy to other people but the movie doesn't show what's below the surface. At all
I’m wondering if the reason why they didn’t express Finch’s depression throughout the movie was so that when he killed himself, we were just as hurt and shocked by it as Violet was. Like I think Dylan mentioned that like she didn’t know he was in a dark place and I think the movie might’ve done it intentionally?
no yeah because I had never read the book but when that scene happened in the movie my jaw dropped I kept thinking it couldn't have happened, I was literally going through the 5 stages of grief up until the credits rolled.
they look fine on the outside, but even when we were shown him on the "inside", like what he's like when he's alone, he's still chipper skipper even to himself when he doesn't have to hide anything from anyone. From what it sounds like, they should have shown more from his perspective.
Imo they did such a bad job showing his depression that I just thought he drowned at the end because he had one of his spacey moments rather than killed himself
@@mairi4941 I read the book a LONG time ago but from what I remember I think they did a good job of portraying Finch's depression because of the monologues. Haven't seen the movie, so I don't know if it did an accurate job or not.
i think that he needed to portray "sadness" even if he didn't look sad. which, yes, isn't easy. but that's kinda what an actor is meant to do. i'll give it to the screenwriters and director for not being able to translate his depression correctly and not so much to the actor.
@@the-berries-and-cream-dude depression, at least in the cast of bipolar disorder which is what finch has, doesn’t really present as sadness, it’s more of an emptiness than anything. and he only has manic episodes during the movie/book and the depressive episodes aren’t shown. they are just described as ‘the asleep’

As someone who didn't get to read the book before watching the movie, let me say... If I didn't knew how to recognize the symptoms, I wouldn't know what Finch's diagnose was. The movie doesn't give a lot of information about him and I think that's what made the ending kind of fall flat I still cried a lot, mostly because of Violet and what she was feeling, though. I like Finch as a character but I felt like I needed more of him
No, listen, this book means so much to me and I saw the movie and was a bit disappointed with how things turned out. Did I cry? yes, but mainly because I was remembering the book while watching.
Book was good. Movie was hella boring. As someone diagnosed with Bipolar disorder as well I gotta say that even tho it's fiction, this story is super close to my reality.
frrr they could have made it way more thought-provoking. As someone who doesn't have depression, I would loove if they'd give insight into what it's like to struggle with it, or how to be there for someone with depression, instead of making it look like a personality trait. tho ik YA movies aren't made for educational purposes, so das on me. but like they didn't have to make it so friggin boring, I want to gain knowledge, not lose brain cells lol
It's honestly upsetting, because depressed people aren't always just these boring people without personalities. They're normal people just struggling through an illness.
he was bipolar, dylan. not a psycho at times. he didn't know those moments were him on manic episodes and he didn't know those moments came down to a depressive episode. he never got the help he needed
I think he was more commenting on how the movie portrayed Finch as just this troublesome teenager who acted completely psycho sometimes. Like, Dylan wasn't actually trying to say that the character of Finch, who was mentally ill, was "just a psycho at times". He was trying to say that the movie completely butchered his character and his mental illness in such a way that it made him SEEM like he was just a psycho at times as opposed to someone struggling with an untreated mental disorder. It didn't have enough emphasis on his actual mental illness, just on these random, disjointed episodes that were more confusing and weird than accurate or impactful. Like portraying what was meant to be severe depressive/dissociative episodes (that feeling of not feeling awake, of being on autopilot) as just him randomly zoning out sometimes. The movie didn't actually address any of that in a way that connected into a bigger picture of comprehensive mental illness. It just kind of took Finch's mental illness and twisted it into a bunch of random, seemingly impulsive psychotic episodes and behaviors.
@@zombiesinflannels well i just woke up. How can I answer to such a nicely put response. Yeah I know what he meant. The thing is Dylan doesn't realize he was undiagnosed bipolar. Those "dissociative episodes" weren't just dissociative episodes. It was probably him on manic episodes but he never got to know that! And i don't remember well but the book doesn't specify either. Cause that was the point! He didn't need counseling or support and understanding from friends, he needed to go to the psychiatrist to get diagnosed. He was labeled weird and psycho cause no one had an answer for his actions not even himself. Lol i may or may not have commented that in that way cause it makes me mad that people don't realize he was bipolar. And i probably missused Dylan's words because why not. Thats it. The story hits way to close and it makes me mad not many people realize he was undiagnosed bipolar and that killed him. He died not knowing what was happening to him. But ye
Okay, this may sound stupid but I read this book once it came out and a couple years ago, and I never realized finch was bipolar. I just thought he had severe depressive episodes, which goes to show how uneducated on mental illness we are despite it being talked about more. Thanks for posting this ❤️
“Yo, these are dark topics. Why you making jokes?” It doesn’t have to be fiction. Lots of people who go through significant emotional events use humor to cope. I do it, always making jokes not just after terrible things happen to me, but during them. I get that some people aren’t comfortable with it, but no one should judge you for it.
Right, I was talking to one of my friends about something that happened to me and I was making jokes about it to stop myself from crying in the middle of class lol and then someone overheard me and complained about me making THEM uncomfortable.
I agree, at the cancer hospital a lot of doctors had a very dry sense of humor and with my friends when we talk about tragic events we always make some black humour jokes because it makes it easier to talk about without breaking down
and that's okay, because your joking about yourself and your experiences, I personally think that type of humour crosses a line when it's directed at someone (unless they consent to that)
finch is bipolar, not simply depressed. the montages were the moments of mania, he was happy, he could function, he was "awake" and in control, and although slightly chaotic and intense, he was there. after the night spent with violet, and how it could easily be almost "ruined" in a way, finch was reminded of how vulnerable and temporary these "happy" moments were. so every day those sticky notes were his reasons to stay present, stay awake, and stay alive. he was flashing in and out of it, as bipolar people do (shown when in the restaurant he would dissociate) but violet could at least bring him back. after that morning, it was like the flip of a switch (again, bipolar! anything can make you manic/depressive, you can literally do a complete emotional 180 in a minute) and finch was in a worse place because he lost his reason to stay awake (violet). you may think it was dramatic, but its important to remember: 1. hes a teenager, adolescents are more irrational and emotional as a byproduct of hormones, 2. he is bipolar, in the nature of the disorder, emotional extremes and fast changing moods are commonplace, 3. finch had already been struggling, flashing between mania and depression. something like this could definitely tip the scale, as violet had been pulling him out, but the people we love cannot be there to help us all of the time. i dont think there was a mistake in filming how they did -- showing montages of happiness, and then random bouts of anger, sadness, depression, etc. as someone with bipolar disorder, that is what my life looks like. and we can interpret this mistakenly as a love story, where we should like the couple and ship them together forever, or we can follow the intentions of the movie and novel and understand that this is reality (or supposedly, a depiction of it). for finch, he was fixated on violet, he probably did love her in his own way. we do not need to love violet, we just need to understand that finch loves violet because she is giving him reasons to stay awake at this point. violet loved him because of who he presented himself to be (similar to her, but also a source of happiness) -- she was traumatized, and that lead to her depression, whereas finch is clinically mentally ill (he did have "aggressors" and life factors that contributed to the presentation and intensity of his disease, but despite these, he is sick inherently, as bipolar disorder is not a result of trauma, emotional states, or life events. it is an unchangeable state of being, bipolar people are born bipolar and need diagnosis, treatment, and medication. violet was depressed as a result of a life event, a different kind of "illness" in a sense, but still completely valid and worth talking about). once that fixation was broken, and his reality set in (that this "love" was vulnerable, temporary, and no longer reliable in terms of a reason to stay "awake"), he slipped back into a depression, and he killed himself. we have to remember, this is not a love story. the book was a million times better, and i related to it so much it is one of my absolute favorites. but the movie i feel, in a much less effective way, tried to capture the true message. it was received as a fucked up love story, rather than what it truly is -- its a glimpse into mental illness, with aspects of our true experience. we want to love, we want to live, but sometimes (a lot of the time) we have to give ourselves reasons to keep going. depression never goes away, we can simply be distracted by it. violet was a distraction (although finch didnt know it), and once the illusion of his mania was shattered, there was no more distraction and he faced his depression. he lost the battle, and although he did have those happy moments and on the outside he didn't "seem THAT depressed", it is the truth of how quickly our mental states can change (especially for bipolar people). you are meant to be shocked, youre not meant to see it coming, because he probably didnt either in his mania. but once it hits, it hits like a truck, and it is not supposed to make sense why. he did because he felt he had to -- the reason is not the falling out with violet. the reason is his mental illness. this is very long winded and probably no one will read it LOL. but i hope for maybe one or two people that do, it makes more sense why they filmed this way and why they left the end as they did. life for violet will go on, because people can grow and improve past trauma (of course with resources, assistance, etc.). finch did not have this same opportunity, because he also did not know he was bipolar (he did not have access to the resources he needed to cope) and no one else around him knew either. he died, and it is shocking and heartbreaking, but this is not a love story. this is how life goes for some people :/ (i think its important for me to note that my intention is not to illegitimize violets illness. i want to highlight the difference between violet's depression and finches bipolar disorder. depression is a mental state and a result of chemical imbalances, and it needs treatment just as any other mental illness and needs to be taken very very seriously in order to improve. depression can improve over time. in another light, people with bipolar disorder are unaware that they have bipolar disorder until a diagnosis --finch probably thought he was just depressed. but the actual presence of this disorder changes brain chemistry and alters emotional permeance. its difficult to explain, but bipolar disorder is different because without medication and resources, there is no treatment. a sufferer faces all sorts of labels and stigmas for something they do not know they have and probably do not understand. people with bipolar disorder cannot get eliminate their disorder -- it is permanent. it is a matter of managing the symptoms (in terms of regulating emotional states and minimizing both mania and depression). i hope this makes sense, and i do not mean to offend. i appreciate the movie's display of how these illnesses can interact and how they can present differently.)

i personally think the movie didn't express the heaviness of those topics right.
Then watched movie and I didn't feel nothing exept irritation on it, cause this is completely different story that for me feels empty.
yep, the book was a lot better at handling those subjects, the main characters felt like real teenagers, but in the movie they felt more like 20 something year old adults.

i really liked the book bc all throughout finch’s chapters, he references the cardinal that kept flying into his patio until it killed itself and how he blamed his parents for not opening a window to let it in and take care of it. but he says that there was nothing there to make it last, implying that opening a window only drags out an inevitable end to the bird’s life. and i think that perfectly describes what finch thought of his and violet’s relationship; he is the cardinal and she is the open window. she delayed his inevitable end for a bit but he was always meant to die.

YESS I got mad when they showed it so in the movie.
Can you tell me why finch decided to suicide? I still dont understand why he did that
@@eatwithfanny6648 There is so many reasons why he did it and the movie does not show any of this well at all. This movie shows depression in the most romanticized way and I hate it
Yesss, this!
A lot of similarities with that movie, is all I'm saying, but Pelican Blood felt way closer to what depression is actually like.
it's like they think depression is a personality trait
Yeah and like a dependent relationship around it.
It almost feels like mental illnesses get 'fetishised' in these sort of stories. A good support system, love and care are important to getting better but it's not the 'solution'.

During that stage is when one is looking for something to grasp and not let go
So, someone might _look_ happy but inside they're suffering. In books, it's easier to describe it because you have the benefit of only using words to write a story.
In big screen, it's harder and requires all the team: screenwriter, director, cast etc to be talented and to have a vision
@@nyxldx I think the movie did a good job at portraying how some people experience but not all obviously

I liked that he wasn’t stereotypically depressed because depression looks different in everyone. And some people look fine on the outside
they look fine on the outside, but even when we were shown him on the "inside", like what he's like when he's alone, he's still chipper skipper even to himself when he doesn't have to hide anything from anyone. From what it sounds like, they should have shown more from his perspective.

Thanks for posting this ❤️
@@gabiminie I mean... I guess you could’ve worded it in a nicer way.
The media seems incapable of accurately portraying mental illness and those who suffer from it. Books, TV, movies... it's really disheartening.
“Yo, these are dark topics. Why you making jokes?”
It doesn’t have to be fiction.
It's a coping mechanism.
I agree, at the cancer hospital a lot of doctors had a very dry sense of humor and with my friends when we talk about tragic events we always make some black humour jokes because it makes it easier to talk about without breaking down
and that's okay, because your joking about yourself and your experiences, I personally think that type of humour crosses a line when it's directed at someone (unless they consent to that)
finch is bipolar, not simply depressed. the montages were the moments of mania, he was happy, he could function, he was "awake" and in control, and although slightly chaotic and intense, he was there. after the night spent with violet, and how it could easily be almost "ruined" in a way, finch was reminded of how vulnerable and temporary these "happy" moments were. so every day those sticky notes were his reasons to stay present, stay awake, and stay alive. he was flashing in and out of it, as bipolar people do (shown when in the restaurant he would dissociate) but violet could at least bring him back. after that morning, it was like the flip of a switch (again, bipolar! anything can make you manic/depressive, you can literally do a complete emotional 180 in a minute) and finch was in a worse place because he lost his reason to stay awake (violet).
you may think it was dramatic, but its important to remember: 1. hes a teenager, adolescents are more irrational and emotional as a byproduct of hormones, 2. he is bipolar, in the nature of the disorder, emotional extremes and fast changing moods are commonplace, 3. finch had already been struggling, flashing between mania and depression. something like this could definitely tip the scale, as violet had been pulling him out, but the people we love cannot be there to help us all of the time.
i dont think there was a mistake in filming how they did -- showing montages of happiness, and then random bouts of anger, sadness, depression, etc. as someone with bipolar disorder, that is what my life looks like. and we can interpret this mistakenly as a love story, where we should like the couple and ship them together forever, or we can follow the intentions of the movie and novel and understand that this is reality (or supposedly, a depiction of it). for finch, he was fixated on violet, he probably did love her in his own way. we do not need to love violet, we just need to understand that finch loves violet because she is giving him reasons to stay awake at this point. violet loved him because of who he presented himself to be (similar to her, but also a source of happiness) -- she was traumatized, and that lead to her depression, whereas finch is clinically mentally ill (he did have "aggressors" and life factors that contributed to the presentation and intensity of his disease, but despite these, he is sick inherently, as bipolar disorder is not a result of trauma, emotional states, or life events. it is an unchangeable state of being, bipolar people are born bipolar and need diagnosis, treatment, and medication. violet was depressed as a result of a life event, a different kind of "illness" in a sense, but still completely valid and worth talking about). once that fixation was broken, and his reality set in (that this "love" was vulnerable, temporary, and no longer reliable in terms of a reason to stay "awake"), he slipped back into a depression, and he killed himself.
we have to remember, this is not a love story. the book was a million times better, and i related to it so much it is one of my absolute favorites. but the movie i feel, in a much less effective way, tried to capture the true message. it was received as a fucked up love story, rather than what it truly is -- its a glimpse into mental illness, with aspects of our true experience. we want to love, we want to live, but sometimes (a lot of the time) we have to give ourselves reasons to keep going. depression never goes away, we can simply be distracted by it. violet was a distraction (although finch didnt know it), and once the illusion of his mania was shattered, there was no more distraction and he faced his depression. he lost the battle, and although he did have those happy moments and on the outside he didn't "seem THAT depressed", it is the truth of how quickly our mental states can change (especially for bipolar people). you are meant to be shocked, youre not meant to see it coming, because he probably didnt either in his mania. but once it hits, it hits like a truck, and it is not supposed to make sense why. he did because he felt he had to -- the reason is not the falling out with violet. the reason is his mental illness.
this is very long winded and probably no one will read it LOL. but i hope for maybe one or two people that do, it makes more sense why they filmed this way and why they left the end as they did. life for violet will go on, because people can grow and improve past trauma (of course with resources, assistance, etc.). finch did not have this same opportunity, because he also did not know he was bipolar (he did not have access to the resources he needed to cope) and no one else around him knew either. he died, and it is shocking and heartbreaking, but this is not a love story. this is how life goes for some people :/
(i think its important for me to note that my intention is not to illegitimize violets illness. i want to highlight the difference between violet's depression and finches bipolar disorder. depression is a mental state and a result of chemical imbalances, and it needs treatment just as any other mental illness and needs to be taken very very seriously in order to improve. depression can improve over time. in another light, people with bipolar disorder are unaware that they have bipolar disorder until a diagnosis --finch probably thought he was just depressed. but the actual presence of this disorder changes brain chemistry and alters emotional permeance. its difficult to explain, but bipolar disorder is different because without medication and resources, there is no treatment. a sufferer faces all sorts of labels and stigmas for something they do not know they have and probably do not understand. people with bipolar disorder cannot get eliminate their disorder -- it is permanent. it is a matter of managing the symptoms (in terms of regulating emotional states and minimizing both mania and depression). i hope this makes sense, and i do not mean to offend. i appreciate the movie's display of how these illnesses can interact and how they can present differently.)
not sure why part of it is crossed out, i didnt do that :/ probably because its so long haha!
Man you’re tearing me up here. Nice read tho

Dylan: "That sliced cheese doesnt belong anywhere near your mouth."
I think its a southern thing, because I know people who do that 🤣🤣
pretty common in canada too, i think that it's because processed cheese is usually only around 50% natural cheese with additives, like the difference between natural Tabaco and the Tabaco in cigarettes' with all those extra chemicals .its cheaper for both the manufacturer's and consumers and also faster to produce as well as easier.
I do too, well I'm south to the States technically in Central America; point is just like Emily in the Devil Wears Prada I eat a slice of cheese whenever I feel like fainting.
Dylan: "I love Luke Wilson. He just...fell off the face of the face of the earth. Now he's a dad!"
🤣🤣🤣
the movie just didn't tell the story well at all imo they didn't even tell us Finch's story so his death was not impactful at all
Petition for Dylan to write the book and then *direct it’s movie.*
Imagine all those amazing ideas he has and all the dissection... *that* movie with *that* book is gonna be amazing.
I think that violet and finch are to show different ways people live with mental illness. Like how Violent was obviously visibly depressed she wasn’t talkative she was easily irritable where as Finch was very enthusiastic and full of life but he still was dealing with the same thing. So I think Finch liked violet bc he saw himself in her like when he’s “not awake” so he probably thought he could wake her up too.
The thing is this movie completarla ignored the seriousness of finch mental illness. Hell, it feels like it’s all about her when she’s just the side of his story
2 genuine questions;
- did dylan actually like the book?
- what the hell is keegan michael key doing in this movie?
