    I find it hilarious that it took this long for academia to get to this point.
    Anyone with any ability to think critically knew the moment they heard his "ideas" that he was a race hustler.
    Not to mention, he always refused to debate anyone on his ideas.
    Anyone who has spent time in academia SHOULD tell you, that if a person cannot stand and defend their ideas - You should be very wary of that individual.
    How the hell did this guy get this far?? Oh, right - It was politically expedient at the time....

His writing can be summarized, as most of the Critical studies can be summarized, as "if you see a system or situation that does not produce the result you desire, undermine and destroy that system of thing." Kendi's definition of "racism" is when you see a disproportionate representation of blacks it's due to racism. Period. The whole system is "give me what I want or you are a racist."

    Norman is an absolute legend.

    • @galabz
      @galabz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Norman is a typical arrogant white intellectual with his take here. First of all, Khendi is not a leading African American intellectual but he has important insights about institutional or structural racism. He is popular for his insight that being an anti-racism is not simply a declaration that one is not racist. It is committing to action to confront racism … systemically and in policy choices.
      Declarations are often used as a mask and simply represent a form of denial. Trump among others declares as much and his record prices otherwise. So do many white who are aghast that one would challenge their anti-racist bonafides when they have made no effort to confront racism.
      How an intellectual like Norman Finkelstein misses that insight is beyond me. And here he is patently disingenuous!
      It’s frustrating to hear Norman claim that ‘ending disparities in racial experiences’ is about is ending disparities in the elite positioning… that’s such a most absurd take!!! How does that speak to ending disparities in health, in women’s health, in housing, in wealth, etc… most of the data used is clearly it’s not about the the small black elite.
      This is an important method coming out of critical race theory to quantify or establish structural racism. And it’s clear Norman is not interested in that project. What really about race is he interested in?
      Khendi has a critique of racial capitalism… be fair white man!!!! And it may not be as well developed as mine… I don’t know about yours. But to say that Khendi is not critical of capitalist maldistribution of society’s resources and the creation of racial poverty is disingenuous!! It’s to gaslight those who have not read his work or who have come to appreciate his insights, however limited.
      I am just so frustrated with white academics in full denial mode using every excuse to crap on scholars and activists who are committed to racial justice!!!
      I don’t condone Khenti’s misuse of funds collected in the name of the struggle but please, don’t use the occasion to dump all over the struggle for racial emancipation. And Norman sound like sone right winger carrying on about wokeness… is he really serious about being an ally as he claims his biography suggests?
      Sad!!!

      There is no such thing as "woke culture." The word started getting used by African Americans decades ago by people wanting to talk about people waking up to the realities of systematic racism. Eventually the Left in general started using it in relation to Capitalism (which is the foundation of racism in North America). Then the Right got a hold of it and started using it to decry anything they didn't like.

Black culture in 2023 is basically gangs, black women and white people. Black men have been pushed out. Now I am lectured to by white women about what I should approve of in the black community.
