    Wow. You do such a great job. My husband had a stroke in 2014 and lost the use of his left arm and leg so is confined to a motorized chair. I so wanted to go out hikes to these places but i cannot leave him alone for very long. Your videos help me to go to these places. Thank you!!🥰🥰😘🥰

    Thanks for this fantastic video, very informative and the narration gives many interesting details. My experience with Prickly Pear Cactus candy is from my visits to New Mexico, it has a strawberry/raspberry flavor.

    That is a beautiful place. A few people have been missing in this area. A man and a woman went missing on separate dates in 2015 with the woman’s bones being found a couple of years later, the man never found. A park ranger Paul Fugate went missing from the visitor’s center in 1980 and has never been found and he is the only park service ranger to go missing and never be accounted for. Like many areas it would be best not to venture on the trails alone.

    Dude, you kind of blew it there. The most scenic way to reach Portal from the Monument is across Forest Road 42 (starts right outside the Monument entrance). You climb right up across the sky island to about 9000 feet and from there you can see the White Mountains 140 miles north. The road eventually comes down Cave Creek Canyon on the east side, but the most interesting part is that high country, a Madrean Sky Island with unique animals and plants such as the coati mundi. Those little deer you saw are coues deer, a miniature white tail adapted to the high country of those sky islands.

    • @daylearceneaux4083
      @daylearceneaux4083 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is Forest Road 42 easily traveled by car? I'm assuming it's a dirt road.

    • @kodiakkeith
      @kodiakkeith 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daylearceneaux4083 Yes, it's dirt road, but not bad unless weather events wash it out (which is rare).

    The Chiricahua National Monument is some of the most beautiful park land in Arizona. Very neat to see such a historic site. I have visited there with my family and friends and couple times. It gets pretty hot down there so be sure to pack an extra beverage or two, or 10.

    Wow, this brings back memories. I grew up in Cochise county and spent lots of time in the Chiricahua's. Cave Creek, Cochise strong hold, Rucker Canyon to name a few as a boy scout. My Uncle had a cabin in the National Forest on a long term lease to the Forest Service above Cave Creek and Portal with a little seasonal creek right by it. My siblings, cousins and I had a grand time there. Check out the Movie "Broken Arrow" with Jimmy Stewart, it touches on the history mentioned here. Also InRangeTV has done some excellent Southern Arizona History videos here on TH-cam, it is predominantly a shooting channel but Karl is quite the Arizona historian. "War for Apacheria" is one such series.
