Ohhh, this takes me back to the 70's when I was a child and learning to bake. I had a little stool to stand on and used to make these and measured them out with a little fancy aperitif glass, then bake and decorate with a piece of glace cherry on top (chocolate was too expensive). I remember these were a real treat as coconut was really expensive at the time. I might just have to make these as I have coconut in the cupboard! Thanks for sharing and taking me back in time

T Mackie Plain would be fine, no added sugar in the coconut. And also any 50-60 percent dark chocolate would be great! Just something fairly dark to balance out the sweetness.

Here in the UK, our coconut options are limited. We only get crappy dry dessicated coconut. Americans get lovely moist shredded coconut, and lots of other choices too. So jealous as it's my favourite flavour!
