Thanks bud. You just saved me some money. 2 cycle engines are foreign to me. I didn't realize that the carbs are almost identical to 4 stroke engines. I just disassembled and cleaned the carbs on my old yamaha 25 outboard. It runs like new now. Thanks again.
Used this video to clean my carbs 25hp 2003 2 cycle and is working great now. Great video thank you for taking the time and sharing.
The brass tube under the large (main) jet is called the emulsion tube. The second smaller jet/emulsion tube is the idle jet.
I would have removed the O-ring for the bowl and inspected for any nicks/cut and made certain the groove was clean. Do NOT get carburetor cleaner on the O-ring as it will swell and then be very difficult to reinstall.
When removing any mixture adjustment screws (the one that was broken), first screw it in all the way counting the number of turns before it LIGHTLY touch bottom. When replace/reinstall, tighten until it bottoms out and then back out the same number of turns.
A good set of carburetor screwdrivers helps immensely I’ve found especially on the 115’s

One thing I've noticed from your videos when your trying to bring a motor back to life is you clean the carburetors thoroughly and the jets. You do not go and readjust all the screws etc., to get the engine to work.

Thanks for sharing this video 👍👍👍If my Yamaha 225 hp outboard 1989 is stiil hard to start what else my be wrong !the 1st time you go to start it I have to pull out the manual choke and it will start after a few minutes of cranking then it smokes until I push the choke in and it will now start all day np until to tomorrow morning !
Awesome. Just bought a NC built Dixie fishing with one of these motors. Was randomly running out of fuel. Turned out it was the fuel filter coming unscrewed and let air in but I have really been wondering about the condition of the carbs. Going to do this soon. I really appreciate you making these videos. Where did you learn all of this information?

Have used this video several times with success. I do have one question. When reinstalling the main jet which end goes in first, The end with the hole or the solid end?? I can't see that detail on your video.
Hole end goes up. Solid end goes into the hole

Saw on the net that it could be 1993 (like my boat ) or 2008... the thing is when I watched your video about the 1993 for sale and I noticed the the foward and reverse leaver on yours is on the side and on mine its in the front... any idea ? Man I have been going crazy for couple days because I have been having failure on Yamaha 20hp on Tanker Vessel that I am working on as 3rd Engineer. After I start it with choke it tends to fail working if you do not increase the power. However, it is Rescue Boat engine so it must be operational in any moment. I can not keep increasing or decreasing on water. I think the problem is with carburetor because there was also leakage on it . I changed that top gaskets with rubber gasket with what I could find on ship. I am going to take out carburators tomorrow, and going to use your video simulatneously because the manual we have on our ship is absolutely useless. There is no inforation about any part or anything, so thank you man. Is there any suggestion that you can give me about this trouble. I mean it starts firing then easy easy it fails.

It will not back off throttle once you engage. I ran into the same problem I am looking to fix it now. Did you figure out what to do?

Motor wasn't idling but I could throttle it up and make it run so I know power jet working. Both floats free and in good shape. Only thing, one of the carbs had that black rubber cap over one of the jets. The other carb did not. Is that my problem?

Hi. I'm about to install some boysen performance reed valves to my 2009 Yammy 15hp 2stroke, my question is, do u know how I can upgrade the carb? And if these 2 mods would give me a adequate power increase. Would a carb from a 20 or 25hp model fit mine. I can't seem 2get 2 the bottom of it. Many thanks.... jj
Best way to tune the pilot/air screw adjustment? I bought an 09 25 that has both broke off and someone siliconed them in. I know the settings are on the cowl but how do you fine tune it? do I start at 2 turn and slowly adjust from there while its running?

+Doug Bunn i do not have a yamaha 25hp to show that but once i get one i will make a video. You can use the oil injection still and just put some oil in the gas just in case the oil injection fails. They usually don't fail just make sure your hoses on your oil injection pump are in good shape because what happens is a hose can break from age and it will not supply oil to the engine and lock up your motor

@@Stoltermos Does the 20hp version have 2 carbs or just the one. I know the enduro versions were detuned and in some cases used just the 1 carb. Think an enduro 25 was a 3 cylinder with low state of tune (if memory serves me correctly). My 25 2 cylinder as per in video has 22mm chokes, so the 20hp variant could have smaller chokes. If you look through the barrel you can see the choke size stamped.

the rubber plugs will fail in time, my 08 never had ethanol, a plug fell out, that cylinder stayed flooded and left me stranded...spend $16 for new plugs ... they should have use a permanent plug or a brass fitting w/no hole, damn yamaha for making an unreliable engine... Why not drive a pin in the jet since it has no function, no rubber plug needed.

Thanks Eric! The idle screw was broken off deep in the body of the carb. Thought I was going to have to buy a whole new carb assembly. However, I ended up taking a wafer thin cutting wheel from my Dremel and was able to cut a recessed line into the body of the carb down into the brass idle screw. Basically I put a slot in the head of the broken brass idle screw and was able to screw it out. I did order a new screw and spring. Thanks for your vid it motivated me -John
i have the same 20hp and when i run fuel doesnt go in the carbs i have to pump always so i can go
yes the tank is open the bulb is new and also we changed the one me membrane on the punm the one that is on the outside were ate the screws we left it the same ... but when i try it again the first day it was working perfect but after i did 15 miles it just started to do it again... when i run it does it if i go slow its ok ...pls can u help me

we changed the membrane that is between the pump and the carb ... do you think i have to change the other one too... and also i changed all the flask on the carbs exept the one that is on the top carb.
+Sid yes if i go slow i can go all day without pumping .... do you think if i try to put the fuel hose directly on the fuel pump in the engine so i know that the problem is from the pump or further...
+Sid my mechanic said that on the cylinder there are some scratches and maybe from there loses the compression and doesnt go in like it has to go... is that true?
