OMG! I went to high school with her, she is still a sweet heart. she is a beautiful person inside and out. I remember a performance she did in school, It was the LION KING. She danced to one of the songs of the movie. Everyone cheered for her when she was done. i remember thinking, this girl is going to do great things. Look at her now! So proud of her!
My God, this is so inspirational, people like Misty should be the real examples of perseverance, determination and so much strength. Nothing but respect and admiration for this woman. Makes me want to cry of pride, don't even know her, but really love her just for that.
so inspirational for every artist!!! ...and can we just mention that she has a plate in her shine and yet fights through the pain every day! That's dedication!
As a young girl in ballet, I’ve been going through the same situation that Misty went threw, it gets hard at times but I’m glad to see someone that made it big. I truly want to be like Misty when I grow up.💕
Misty Copeland is a great inspiration for a lot of people. I started dancing when I was 9 but I started ballet at 13 (almost 14) and now less than a year practicing ballet I have my pointe shoes.
How she almost instantly got the technique.....rarely if ever has that previously occurred. Normally one learns by trying....she sprung full blown as though it was already in her body!?!
Misty Copeland is an amazing person. I discovered ballet when i was in nursery school, and went to YMCA ballet and now I'm in SF Ballet school. My muscles feel more beautiful and graceful, like Misty, I study her life everyday.
Love all the fantastic videos profiling Misty's amazing talent and realness. Get goose bumps with every video. So impressed. Not just by her breaking racial barriers but by her amazing talent and the beauty of her skills.
Im sure there have been other women of color that have been capable. Still wonderful and deserved but I think it says something about the ballet world in general.
Stella Abrera, Hee Seo, Paloma Herrera... there have been minority principles at ABT for years. I think Misty's wonderful but why doesn't anyone care about any of the others?????
Oh people care, Its just that that’s the narrative that she wants to paint, theirs money to be made in “the first AA” she’s not even black, she’s mixed.
@@maserati925 , what is "mixed"? Based on how she looks (phenotypical features)? Did you know that you can have one "white" parent and one "black" parent but look either "full white" or "full black" (using the social construction of what "Black" or "White" is)? Basic biology! Most "black" people in the US and the Caribbean have some kind of "mixture" in them. My question is: at what point are you "mixed" or can pass as "mixed"? It's funny how when "Black" people- yes, "Black" people like Misty- are on top of their respective fields, you people suddenly want to take away, or deny, their "Blackness" (and, in some instances even claim them); in other instances (like when they violate the law, for example), they are just "Black", despite their "other part". You people SICK my stomach!
I think misty was a beautiful dancer, however, ballet company's havent chaned at all . Pls advise me if I am incorrect, company's today won't open their doors to colored black ballerinas. Sadlythis is not about to change in the near future. 4:04

Very cool !!! I am a lover of the arts and she really brought a beauty and grace to ballet. She is undoubtedly a great human. Thanks for sharing

I so admire Misty Copeland! A beautiful dancer.
Wow.. talking about mind, body and spirit aligning in perfect unity!

i teared up 😢😢♥️ her mom must be so wonderful, they used to live in a motel and yet she was willing to support her in ballet! incredible mom
YES..... definitely a blessing to have a mother like that in her corner 🙏
Her mother was not there for her. You should watch Misty's documentary.
@@kellynorvell5714 Her mother was not there for her. You should watch Misty's documentary or read her book.
@@arior5515 her mom pulled her out of ballet classes - check out the true story

she is an amazing inspiration, she broke all barriers!!!
@Laura Streeter She is inspiration to me :)
Such a driven intense person, utterly impressive.
She is so inspirational
If Misty could do it then so can I. She is an inspiration to anyone who is of a minority group :)
What minority are you?
C. J. Bailey I'm Hispanic/ Latina but I'm a musician not a dancer
yay!!🥳🥳
And everyone generally too.
This video made me cry.... it is such an amazing story of success and courage
A beautiful women with a deep ambition, may ye be gratefully blessed
Pure innocence and energy!

How lovely in every way.
This gave me chills all over my body
ALL HAIL TO THE QUEEN!🙌🏻🙌🏻(I freaking love Her!)
She's so elegant
Much Appreciation.
Misty is a beautiful dancer
I’m currently reading her book!!!!#BestBookEver💖💖
carrington evans You mean Life in Motion? It’s great!!!
Stunning...
Stella Abrera, Hee Seo, Paloma Herrera... there have been minority principles at ABT for years. I think Misty's wonderful but why doesn't anyone care about any of the others?????
I think it's because of the specific history of black people in America. Slavery is such a significant part of American history.
Because she is the first African American principle artist in abt
Oh people care, Its just that that’s the narrative that she wants to paint, theirs money to be made in “the first AA” she’s not even black, she’s mixed.
Black AND mixed race/biracial people.

Inspirational........
This should have happened years ago and I am so glad this is happening now.
LOL the tab for this video says "Misty Copeland Breaks Ball" she sure does break balls lol
😂😂😂
Pretty outfit
Lets celebrate her skills as a dancer, not her skin color.
Which means we wouldn't celebrate anything because she is not a good dancer.
Balletomane M Nobody shares your opinion. Try again, attention seeker.
Why do you think they focus on her skin color? Her skills as a ballerina are unfortunately not too great.
@@BalletomaneM
Not nice .Prayers for you.
Is there a ballet school for black kids??? We need one.
Open a school Misty...
No but there are ballet schools for everyone 😂
this is proof that I can be mixed races ballet dancer
Those legs😱😍😂
Was that a blood orange song at 2:55? Which one?
What glass ceiling. Arthur Mitchell was principal dancer at the NYC ballet in 1956.
Being overweight really is an impediment to being a ballerina. Some suggest that they be allowed to gain more weight and not look quite so emaciated.
❤
You're so beautiful
a vehicle for change
