What it make any sense to patent or be wary of putting a new idea on Kickstarter for the fear of someone grabbing the idea and running their own branching off what you spent tons of time on?

@@tomMXBN Hi, thanks for your interest! We didn’t smash targets, we actually made a lot of mistakes. Our biggest mistake was not optimising a pre-launch campaign by collecting quality high converting leads and also going budget on our video. We ended up going the traditional route of Angel and VC. My campaign is about men’s leather shoes and leather boots, hand made and I’ve also had an agreement with a charity to plant a tree per backing and that’s included in the reward tiers too. My pre-launch strategy; To get 100s of Facebook users to share it pre launch. 50 IG accounts (with 5k+ followers) to post it maybe weekly. Ignore Twitter. You said you failed to collect high quality leads, did you run ads for collecting these leads? I was told that email leads are useless, is there any truth to this? Also all these marketing emails goes to the junk anyway. I have got a great video and couple of high quality images. I don’t want to spend thousands on google ads. What do you think?
Its so frustrating trying to fundraise for a Software as a Service because you literally can't even make a prototype to show off or give people a sample of without 10s of 1000s of dollars to spend on creating a Minimum Viable Product. ESPECIALLY when you are differentiating from competitors and your differentiation is precisely the features and functions that cost a lot to develop. How do you get there?

@@RedloxBeats that’s the tricky part. There are an infinite ways to build a community to fund your project. Perhaps research these key talking points in blogs, as the answer to your question is more vast than a TH-cam comments section allows
@@zetakongIf you were wanting to continue to sell your product/idea after the Kickstarter I would. Having an LLC means you can claim some of the Kickstarter expenses on your taxes as business expenses I believe, so that’s another reason why someone would want one.
