    Thank you so much for doing all of your videos. Hopefully you show things like alternator change, belt change, wheel hub change, etc. Maybe aftermarket part links to help us that don’t have Mercedes parts hookups. Lol. Seriously…THANK YOU for all of your videos so far.

      I’m having a hard time finding the Castrol Manual bot 328. I have seen in forums people recommending Red Line (50304) or any 75W 90 fluid. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    • @ToyotaGR86Performance

      @@BioHazard03 it’s for sale on eBay here and there but if you go to Mercedes you can request they order some.
      Or alternatively you can use the RedLine substitute 75-90.

      Geez. I just called Mercedes of North Houston and they told me the Castrol is $71.42 per quart. Yeah…I’ll be going with the Red Line 🤦🏻‍♂️

      $74?! That seems excessive. I just now went to a eBay and typed in smart fortwo transmission fluid.
      A listing with 3 quarts popped up for $89.

    After I did the fluid change to my 2014, I added a quarter size magnet next to the drain plug to try and catch any metal particles until the next fluid change.

    Very good knowledge in your videos. Just received call from Smart and they tell me that there´s no need to change oil of the transmission, its lifetime fluid. At least in my F2 451.332 1.0 84HP from 2008.

    • @ToyotaGR86Performance
      @ToyotaGR86Performance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Legally speaking a “lifetime“ fluid simply means the lifetime of the vehicles warranty. There’s no such thing as a fluid that lasts forever.

      @@ToyotaGR86Performance okay, I have so many doubts that, we cannot trust costumer services. Thanks a lot

    • @ToyotaGR86Performance
      @ToyotaGR86Performance  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paraquedista37 from the dealership perspective they want your vehicle to last the warranty, so they do not have to fix it during the warranty period, and then for the vehicle to break right after the warranty is out so you can come back and buy another one. It makes sense if you think about it from that perspective.

      @@ToyotaGR86Performance , Smart's service is so strange, because when I went to the store to find out if it was necessary to change the oil in the box and when I asked at the parts warehouse for the price of the oil and the quantity to add, the guy told me that it was 2 liters!!?? For fluid I used NAPA SYNMESHATF Part# 811095 at $12.49 a quart. This fluid is for manual transmissions.

    Hi ! Thanks for your video
    I just did it but when I unscrewed the fill (upper) hole oil went out for about 1 or 2 liters
    Then the drain for a total of between 2,5L and 3L
    Then I filled it with about 2,1L or 2,2L
    What is the matter here ? I guess it was the first gearbox oil change since factory
    Does smart fill it in another way with more oil ?
    Thanks !!

    • @ToyotaGR86Performance
      @ToyotaGR86Performance  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The factory would only fill it properly. If you removed the top fill plug and a lot of oil came out, it means someone else added lots of oil.
      Too much oil in the gearbox can cause damage.

      I know nothing about the fluid you just mentioned. All you need to do is check if your fluid meets/exceeds the spec for the Mercedes BOT328 oil.

    I've heard that if it's not been serviced at 30K you shouldn't replace the fluid at 60k etc. The transmission has a chance of slipping if you do. So just leave it alone for that lifetime. Thoughts?

    • @ToyotaGR86Performance
      @ToyotaGR86Performance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no such thing as “lifetime” fluid.
      If you ask any manufacturer what that actually means they will tell you it’s for the “lifetime” of the warranty period.
      I just like to use common sense, the detergents in the fluids go bad and need to be replaced; Just like engine oil becomes acidic and needs to be replaced.

    What is the part number of the drain/fill plugs? I’m going to hit up Mercedes of Bellevue to see if I can get 4 of them. I looked up the fluid in the worldpac catalog and it says redline MT-90 works so I’ll probably order that from Amazon.
