I picked up a bottle of their Pearl Autumn Forest. Meh. The pearl sparkle was so fine that, it settled out before I could draw it up into a converter. So, it barely shows when written with. I had a bit of luck shaking the bottle then dipping. But, it really barely makes it to the paper. The bottle is a cool inverted light-bulb shape. So, won’t be throwing out the bottle! But, I’m not probably going to use the ink unless I actually run out of all my other ink and get desperate!!! 😕🖋🙋♀️❤️
I agree with everything you said. I was also excited about this ink. The swatches I saw looked as if there would be some interesting shading, akin to what showed up in the chromatography. (Insert pouting here.) I didn’t notice the scent. I have been experimenting a bit with adding some monotonic and it does seem to coax put some shading, but still nothing very interesting. Maybe it needs a little Pennonia shimmer… ------ OK: so I just opened up the bottle and got my nose close enough to it to get a little ink on it and sniffed. The ink is slightly redolent of our compost bucket right after my husband deposits his coffee in it, which isn’t as awful as it sounds. Grounds, veggies, fruit bits. ButI don’t smell any of that unless I get very close and inhale deeply.
Ironically, I spilled half a charger of Ferris Wheel Press Steeped Umber while I was watching this -- about 2.5 ml. Sigh. That's OK because it's my least favorite color in the Finer Things charger set; I generally don't like reddish browns. I got it to try Oyster Hour (partly on your recommendation) but Spruce County Post is my favorite of the three. My hands look really gross right now.
Spruce County does look like a nice one, and I'm sorry for the loss of your Steeped Umber. The weirdness of Oyster Hour really gets me, though. I think it's the best of that strange sandy color that is getting popular right now.
@@inkdependence That's what I get for multitasking while watching TH-cam videos! I have been testing out as many of those taupe/sand inks as I can get my hands on. I'm looking for legibility and a particular shade. Oyster Hour is OK, but my favorite so far in this category is Sailor 50 States Maine. It's a bit greyer and not as yellow-leaning.
LOVE browns
I have this in my Lamy 2000. I got it a while back at VanNess, i think.
