The Fatso Sr. version was only mentioned at the end and not displayed. It's worth noting that the Sr. version adds a second panel to this plugin with finer control over how much compression is added plus control over the attack and release times, in the hardware unit the attack and release are fixed and variable depending on which style compressor is selected. This way you can keep the input low (if you turn up the input it not only increases compression but adds some harmonic distortion) so now keep the input low and then add more compression through the threshold control and customize the attack and release controls on the Sr. panel. This way you can use it as more transparent / straight up compressor that's more inline with the Distressor.

Nicely done, one of the only really useful EL7 demos I've seen. Just wish it was for the hardware version.

Very very good and clear tutorials, love them, I hope you make more UAD tutorials coz im saving up money for it and ill sooon be getting it!:) Just one question though about the fatso, you mentioned having the left and right being synced up together to have a stereo effect. First of all how do you get them to be synced together, and secondly when would you ever want to use the fatso only on the left or right or have the left and the right but different? Cheers for your time and dedication.

Will mixing the wet signal back into the dry not cause phase issues?

is there any new plugins that are as good as this? maybe saturation vsts or tape compression vsts…. I love the sound of tape its so sexy.. and if I put this on a lot of my elements in my mix like loads of different basses for dnb….. what would I use on the bus to compress all the basses together?? something really really chilled with a 2:1 ratio? that's more transparent?

Ive been using this on my samples lately, makes them Sooo fat! U can take any old dreary thin kick samples, And layer them with this plug to create huge clubby kicks! 1 of the best plugs on UAD platform.

Vintage Warmer all the way, comes to listen at the original Fatso and that´s even come close, also the Fatso hardware is overvalued to me (the charater does not impress me), tradicional are the best LA2A, Urei76, Api 2500, with this three you can do it all and if you have more money Millenia and some Vari Mu in particular i love the culture vulture thermionic hahahaha

Yeah, VW2 is amazing and it can replace UA Fatso.

    Good demo...
BUT: This is all more or less simple digital modells used to "emulate" the real thing.
sorry it´s NOT eaven come close to the HARDWARE original.
I´m very interested if the software coder knows about the "tranny" transfer function, since it´s second order differential...and in here it´s only a little "button" to press. Not to say a single word of the other, far more complex, electronic components to be modelled via software.
