June 9, 2024: Defending Forests - A Spectrum of Strategies

As we enter the summer camping season in North America, consider the vital role healthy forests play in human well-being. Our forest ecosystems face extreme challenges from human activities, and forests are essential for the flourishing of the planet and all her creatures!
John Buckley shares both aspects of where we contributed to the problems of the increasing number and intensity of forest fires, and some strategies to best reduce these growing threats to the vitality of our ecosystems. This will include the wisdom of Indigenous ways of forest management - giving a hint to his extremely broad, deep, and detailed wealth of experiences and insight.
John Buckley is currently the Executive Director of Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center. He formerly worked 13 years with the US Forest Services as a wildland firefighter and forestry technician, including his role as one of the elite “Hotshot” forest firefighters.
