- We've really been enjoying watching these world cup games, and Croatia has been doing incredibly well. The most recent game between Croatia and Brazil really got me thinking, how can such a small country continue to produce such incredible results in football? Here's why I think they're the best soccer / football in the world!

Hello, since my country Chile could not qualify for the World Cup, I only have to support Croatia, which is one of my roots. In my city, Punta Arenas in the Chilean Patagonia, there are many Croatian descendants, we even have a Hrvatski Dom, a Sokol sports club with different sports including basketball and football. So, many of us in my city will be supporting the Croatian team in this World Cup. 🇨🇱✌️🇭🇷

I'm a Chilean with Croatian roots. During the match between Brazil and Croatia I was in Brazil, with my Brazilian girlfriend and her whole family. For all the other matches where Brazil played I celebrated with them, but in this one it was hard to keep my enthusiasm for myself when Croatia won 😀

Croatia's pool of potential players is actually a bit more than 8 million. Diaspora is huge, and many players born outside of Croatia still end up playing for it.
Not all of them are men though xD and you have to count out the old and the kids... so it is less.

Kids in Croatia grow up on school playgrounds playing football for a big part of their time, especially in a smaller cities or villages, all thanks to Croatia being safe country to live in and raise kids. And since there is so many kids playing football outside it's natural that big majority of them will start to train it in some local football club since all of their friends are doing it. And this gives opportunity for talent scouting and best ones eventually go professional when they are older.

I hope your kids are right 😄 Atmosphere in 2018 can only be topped if we go all the way this time, that was something indescribable but also bad weather and winter are having a role why there isn't that much craziness in the streets now. But it was still fun after the win vs Brazil, I guess we are warming up 😁 if we manage to beat Argentina I think celebrations are going to reach 2018 post match levels. We do have a pool of players coming from Croatians outside Croatia so it is more than just population of Croatia, it is kind of popular to play for Croatia among Croatians who live in other countries.
For example Šimunić, Petrić and Rakitić were not born in Croatia.
But even with that information it is still impressive compared to larger and richer countries.

For me, the most important characteristic of our team in Qatar and on the soccer fields is dignity, and as a Croat, I am most proud of that. Our players didn't jump, they didn't fight because of the referee's mistakes, they didn't shout at every suspicious moment, they tried to be better in football and luck was on their side.
I'm from the 🇺🇸 and I've got mad love for 🇭🇷 I've always had love for 🇭🇷 but 🇭🇷 proves that is not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog plus if you look at the history of soccer and Croatia they've have a tradition of soccer spanning over 100 years and they was the bulk of the great Yugoslavian teams back in the day. You know a 1965 a famous 🇭🇷 soccer player named Drazan Jerkovic did a famous speech that is still talked in Belgrade still to this day.

Pa ne znam, puno puta smo ušli u utakmicu sa stavom "lako ćemo". Ako ne baš na prvenstvu, onda u kvalifikacijama. Ali slaže mse sa svime, evo like 😄😄

First football club in Croatia was in city Koprivnica 1907. In a period from 1907. till the end of a Ist WW was established more the 120 football clubs all over the country.
On the current territory of Croatia, the first football match was played in Rijeka in 1873., organized by the English from the torpedo factory. ⚽
Sport is very popular in Croatia in general. 8 out 10 kids in football is of course not even close. We have better results in many other sports.

The 2018 run was a real hail Mary of a run and, although we had a better offense, the defense we have now is better. I really have a strong gut feeling we might win it all this year. In 2018 everyone was talking big and, though the final match was a mess, we didn’t quite feel there was a strong chance. Mostly because the players were too tired - which showed. We made a real transformation from a Cinderella team to a dark horse and spirits are through the roof. We got this! 😎🔥🇭🇷
