@@palmcrazysg Sure thing. I can briefly describe my process, but keep in mind I'm an amateur who just sort of made up things as I went along, so I'm sure there is a better way of doing things. I loved this game. Sold it to a friend when I moved away from the gaming group. I need to get myself a copy. We had a house rule to make the combat better for us. Roll both combat dice and use the best result.
I like that house rule, especially if you are finding the game too hard. It can definitely get out of hand quickly. You need a few good rolls and a few good token pulls over the course of the game. Those swings of luck are part of the survival experience in this game, but it can feel hopeless when every roll sucks. I might have that house rule kick in once a character has a serious wound. Or after they roll a blank. Or they can spend two cards to get advantage. Something like that. Interesting idea. Thanks so much for watching!
I believe the official rules clarifications on BGG say the careful movement rule overrides the danger and silence icons on tokens. So, in round 2 you should not have resolved the danger icon since you used careful movement and instead can place 1 noise in a corridor without noise.
That is good to know. Thanks for the clarification. I personally hate that rule and will never play that way. So we can make this an official Shaggi house rule. Token overrides the movement. Much better. Thanks for checking out the video!
Awesome play through, the commentary really helped me understand the game mechanics. Also, I love the idea of using coin protectors (at least what I think are coin protectors) to ‘sleeve’ the cardboard tokens. Would you mind sharing where you got them and what size? I’d love to use them to help protect my copy of nemesis.
I'm glad you enjoyed the playthrough. Coin protectors are awesome and I use them in many games. Check my channel for the video Top 10 Accessories which I made a few months ago. It has more info, including helpful links. I cannot remember the exact size, but just measure the token -- it will probably be 27mm or so. Then you can search for that size on Amazon or wherever. Thanks for watching!
Epic. I think you made a couple of rules errors (who wouldn't), but they were not in your favor. One that I recall--if you move without making noise, or carefully, you ignore any 'silence' or 'danger' token that's on the room you're exploring.
Characters in the escape pod must also roll for noise (they are considered to be in the room for that escape pod) if an event card or bag development requires a noise roll. So, the Scout should also have rolled for noise on that last round's bag development which would have greatly increased the chance of an encounter.
Ah, thanks for that rules clarification. That's a shame -- another rule I don't particularly like in a co-op setting. I guess I could have just taken off in the escape pod with the Scout and technically won. I don't like that either -- I would rather treat co-op like in Robinson Crusoe ... everyone must live! Since I am playing that way, I think I feel okay house-ruling this one as well and saying a character in the escape pod doesn't need to make a noise roll during the bag development phase. That just feels overly punishing in a way that isn't fun or rewarding. But it is good to know. Thanks!
Amazing video quality as usual, you could sell games just because your playthroughs can be watched like a good movie. I watched Outer Rim twice, it's so colorful! This game is massive and a full pledge is a lot of money. Could you put in the description what parts of the crowdfunding campaign were used for this game (e.g. just the base game) if you know it?
Ah, that is a good question. It is 99.9% base game only as far as I can remember. Base characters, base cards. Yeah, other than the Catstronaut mini, I believe this is basic vanilla Nemesis. I will make that clear in the description. Thanks so much for your compliments. I try to make each video fit the theme of the game in terms of color grading and music, but I'm very much an amateur at all this, so I don't actually know what I'm doing. 😂 I'm glad you enjoy it. Once again top quality video you are my favorite board game channel! Quick question: after the back n' forth if a character has less than 5 cards in hand don't we draw up to 5 cards from the available pool on the left side of the character board (non discarded ones)?
Watching this so far, I'm starting to have second thoughts on taking the sequel. The power system is cool, but in the first game, it's one less thing to keep track of, and the contingencies are also kind of a hassle. The engines in the base Nemesis is a really fun mechanic. I might look for someone who has the base game to play a round with them and see how it goes.

@@enginucar1135 Yes, very lucky, as I said often in the game. Interestingly, I had some bad luck on noise rolls early, which probably should have doomed me. But that was followed by lucky rolls and bag pulls that didn't punish me. I got away with it. Same thing with the queen. Unlucky to spawn her. Very lucky to kill her, which was extremely helpful. Also, the events overall were gentler than usual. One badly timed event could have cost me the game. But a little luck is necessary, and I don't mind that in my survival games, especially when the storytelling is this epic. Thanks for watching!
Looks fun!! Can you change the ship layout, or do you need to use the same ship layout every time and just have randomly changed rooms? Would be fun if you could change ship layouts to make a campaign out of it rather than the same ship each game.
There is a different layout on the back of the board which is more difficult, but you can't change the layout other than that. The changing rooms does change up the gameplay a bunch, as well as the randomized exploration tokens. Some games will see a bunch of fire or a bunch of doors that must be opened or shut. That is a good question and I'm not sure I have an answer. We talk about "variable player powers" "card driven actions" "hand management" "asymmetric roles" ... I don't know if any of that really gets at what you are talking about. You might have to coin the term. I do enjoy this mechanism in games. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled Thanks. Coming from MMO video games, it is the closes to controlling a character I have seen and really enjoy it.
Love the explanation. Doesn't corridor counted as 1 action card? It also need noise roll for corridor in and out
I'm not sure I understand your question but you move from room to room and never stop in the corridors. That might not be your question, but I believe I've played by the rules. Thanks.
@@TotallyTabled You're correct, I was playing nemesis lockdown and mishap it with the stair corridor
Get 'em Shaggy! Table smack the f***hy alien s**m!
I do my best!
The Steam video game version is well done to for solo play.
Oh, I need to try that. That might be the only board game I don't have on Steam! Thanks for the recommendation and thanks for watching!
Can't wait! I'm watching it right now! I hope you win... But like I know this game, probably not. This game has the evil black die from This War of Mine's little brother in it (the Noise Die. Hate that thing)
Ha, you're right. I never thought of that but that noise die is definitely related to the evil d10 whose name we do not mention. Something is wrong with d10s. There, I said it. :) Hope you enjoy the rest of the video. It starts off slow but gets exciting fast. Thanks PhoenixSlayer!
@@TotallyTabled I underestimated how right you would be lol
@@ThePhoenixSlayer Ha, yeah. Things got tricky all of a sudden. Luckily the red attack d6 is not as evil as the d10! 😀
@@TotallyTabled the d6 is never this kind to me in my games...
@@ThePhoenixSlayer Yeah, that's true. 😅
It was super fun. Dear dice god. 👍
I'm happy you enjoyed it. That was an exciting playthrough.
What were those casings you put the intruder tokens in and where do you get them?
I discuss these plastic coin capsules and provide links in my Top 10 Board Game Accessories video here: th-cam.com/video/tEvrhrVXkEA/w-d-xo.html
@@TotallyTabled Thanks!
@@TotallyTabled Nemesis has a pretty well-designed insert that fits all its bits fairly tightly. While it leaves extra space for sleeving cards, it has just the right space for tokens. So, how did you fit it all after using coin cases?
So Royal Ceremony as no effect at all because the Queen is dead? Love the vid and you enthusiasm btw! Just subscribed :)
Yeah, I think so. I'm not sure what else could happen. I'm sure as hell not bringing the Queen back -- I killed her fair and square! :) Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub! I really appreciate the support.
Where did you get those exploration tokens?
Ah, those are the regular tokens inside plastic coin capsules. I discuss this accessory in my video Top 10 Board Game Accessories here: th-cam.com/video/tEvrhrVXkEA/w-d-xo.html. I have links in the description for them I believe or just search for them on Amazon. Thanks for watching!
Says he keeps forgetting about not making noise if moving into a room that has a player. Immediately forgets about that rule next turn.
I wasn't lying! 🤣
Careful move into nest room and spawn a queen 💀

👀👀👀 oopsie
and the plastic container..*edit in last post.. intruder.. not "alien"...
いまだにルールわからない😢
So is no solo
You can play with one character but I prefer playing with two.
Is this game basically pure luck fest. You just hope your friend or you dont die the first 20 min of game night
Not at all. You could get ridiculously unlucky, but I've never seen it. It is definitely not a pure luck fest. The game is challenging but winnable -- exactly what you want from a survival game. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled im on the fence of getring it because i live survival horror. Is it very replayable? Or do the few objectives get repetitive?
