I love that fact you repurpose things around the house or upcycle things like the door to a desk. I see so many people displaying wonderfully kitted out (usually by IKEA) workspaces that I feel a bit demoralised at times. I am a 'multi-crafter' and by that I mean I enjoy all sorts of crafts depending on my mood or the time of year and my workspace is very limited to a corner of a dining room. Yes, I have crafters envy - but in a good way. One day I hope to have a dedicated space/room - but I doubt it'll ever be the sort of 'designer' space others aspire to or have already :)
I'm all about upcycling/reusing! As silly as it sounds, I hate having so much plastic around. I want supplies that will last and eventually, long after me having them, biodegrade. I am lucky I have a 3bd house that I'm renting - VERY LUCKY - because if my family ever grows, I have space for a little one. Then I'll have to get creative!
Some people just cannot help themselves...they hunt hard for something any tiny thing they don't like so they can feel justified in giving negative feedback in any way they can! Just pity them and move on!
Love that you shared your storage idea. I would've never thought to get an artist portfolio to store them in. Right now mine are rolled in my room. Thanks for sharing. :)
Im new at diamond painting and i am always looking for creators that do good videos and i find Rachel Rae to be one of the best creator's. I look for people that can talk like I was in the room with them. So i love that about you Rachel. Also love how you organize all your crafts.
Hello Rachel... I'm a 2pcs-finished-DP newbie, but because of your YT channel it made my DP experience divine. I really appreciate everything in your channel so far. More power to your channel! PS. I adore your calming voice 😍.
I'm working my way through your playlists (thank you for having them) and I just came across this list. Your videos are so good! Loved seeing your craft room space and all of your WIPs!
Awesome craft space! I love seeing other people’s storage ideas! I store my drills in totes as well, but I have one for rounds and one for squares! Makes it a little easier when I pick a painting I want to do I know exactly which bin to go to for the drills! Can’t wait for part 2. Tfs, til next time!
Loved the tour! It's so nice to hear your adopted Irish expressions- every so often, people look at me like I have three heads when I mention craic or 'Bob's yer uncle', etc..... :)
Hi Rachel, enjoyed your video very much...ty for all the great storage ideas. Love your craft room, and would really love to see more of your lovely home there in Ireland! Hugs to you! 🙋🍀🍀🍀
I stumbled onto your site and fell in love with diamond painting. Have several kits on order and anxiously waiting for them so I can start my new hobbie. Have light pad and tools. Wish me luck.
Awesome video! I am definitely going to try rolling my drills into rosettes. I was thinking a few days there has to be a better way, and here's your video giving me an awesome new trick to try! Thanks for all you do Rachel!
I can't remember if I mentioned it before, but I LOVE your new intro! I love seeing your craft room and your storage! If I had my beads stored in that big box I just know that they would all end up on the floor. I can't tell you how many drill trays/containers I've spilled either because of my arthritis or my clumsiness. I have my canvases and my drills stored the same way, a large portfolio and plastic totes and baggies. I also live in a small space (condo) and I'm always looking for space saving advice. I'm really looking forward to your video on the history of drills. I've had a few diamond paintings since 2015, but I really didn't enjoy it until I tried it again in September 2018 when I found out about light pads and drill pens. My eyesight isn't very good and I found it impossible to see the symbols without a light pad even though I was using a magnifier and an ott light above my work. I also didn't enjoy using the tweezers that came with the kits originally and didn't know how to use the green boat that came with the kit so I was working right out of the plastic baggies. I had a lot of baggies open at the same time because it was confetti hell and I didn't know any different. I worked all the way up the side one line at a time using all of the colors. Now I work in sections doing one color at a time using a drill pen and a boat and a light pad and LOVE diamond painting. If it wasn't for TH-camrs like you I wouldn't have this wonderful craft that brings me so much joy, so thank you!
Love the tour. My craft storage is in one corner of the living room but I dont work on my projects there. I usually end up diamond painting at the kitchen table for bigger paintings or on a box in my lap when on the couch for my smaller paintins.
This was a great video, love seeing other DP'ers work area, as well I got so many ideas for storage of my paintings and drills, I cant wait to see PT.2... AWESOME video...
Hey Rachel, These kinds of videos make the voyeur in me happy, *grins* I get to see inside a little piece of life and get some ideas as well! Since I'm very limited in space here, and still new to diamond painting, I searched for a way to store my leftover drills that didn't take up much room. For now (and this may change at some point but for now I'm happy with it) I use a photo storage box, an idea I got from 4kidsat147. Maybe this could work for you as well!
That was a great video, Rachel! I was looking at getting Sailor Moon too - my daughter loved her as a child and I thought she'd be fun to do. I like your set-up a lot. Looking forward to your stash video!
You certainly got ME hooked on diamond painting! In fact, I was thinking of coming to your get together, but I would be afraid to let my hubby and your hubby meet...they might gang us on us! LOL
Thanks for the craft room tour! I love peeking into the systems of other crafters - I will frequently and blatantly steal ideas, LOL! Have you considered a large piece of glass for on top of your door desk to give yourself a flat surface to work on? Or do you love the texture exactly the way it is? Just wondering as I really like that door and can see myself filling the indents with all sorts of things (like the corks from some certain delicious bottled beverages) and then be able to see them under the glass :)
The plan is to buy an insane amount of resin and pour a top on, encasing little bits of seaglass and shells inside. As much as I know some viewers would like it, I won't be putting in any resin diamonds. But if this turns out as beautiful as I hope it will, there could be ferns and flowers added in as well. It is a project we have to wait until the solstice to start (evenings have to be over 10C).
Hello Rachel, I'm so behind on videos. Loved this one. I have thought about using the bead container for when the rest of my beaded cross stitch comes, if it ever does that is. I used to make jewelry and have tons and I mean tons of those containers filled. Two carts filled with them. Lol you would flip. Probably already have all the beads from the kit to be honest. I can't wait to move onto your next video. Your room is so cute. Love it. Jesus bless you and yours,Lin ✝️🐶🐶🐶🐶🐢🐦🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💖🦒🐧🐲🤗
I want to see Luna we lost out baby her name was Ms Molly Mcbutter just after loosing mom so praise to you for keeping her with you while your doing your other passions i only wish as a retired groomer dogs rock my world and now that im handicapped im still loving my beaded tapestry work as that fairy is from one of my famous pieces and diamond painting i so get you its comfort i wish i could see you i want to come to Ireland so badly people ask me if im Irish all the time its such a beautiful country
She makes appearances in my videos quite often, she's my pride and joy. Some days she's work, but that's collies for you. :) Robin, I followed your progress in Ella's group! I love seeing you do beaded tapestry in the restaurant. I bet people are always coming up and asking questions. If mine were smaller, I'd love to take it somewhere and work on it in public. :) I will look for your FB page.
I apologize if you have been asked this a lot. Do you ever use your old drills from past arts. Just trying to decide whether to keep or discard old ones. Second the numbers on the drills are they universal through the hobby or does each piece have their own number/ symbol. Thank you for the videos. I am home bound and all alone with Covid 1st timer and luckily I had one diamond artwork that I’ve had for a year but been to busy. So I’m binging all your videos to occupy my mind while I work on it. Thank you so much!!!
I do save all my old drills from kits as long as they are a good quality, and if I ever run out I can use them to finish the piece. The dye lots may change from kit to kit, so sometimes I have to find another color, but it is helpful to keep them in my opinion. The symbols are definitely kit specific, so the best thing to do is to sort by DMC number.
Hi Rachel, I am a new subscriber and I love your videos!! I have just started my addiction to diamond painting and have about 5 projects, so I am in awe of you! Do you have any information you can share about the DP canvas of the woman in the bathtub? I love this and would love to find where to purchase this. I could listen to your videos for hours!!
Hi Patricia, welcome! You can find the lady in the bathtub on diamond art club's website here: www.diamondartclub.com/products/worlds-away-diamond-art-painting?variant=13023160369203 I have a few videos on making her and stretching the canvas here: th-cam.com/channels/RHwkHd9_jJYlReLtHIuIMQ.htmlsearch?query=world%27s+away Thank you for subscribing! I hope you like it!
Where did you get plastic trouser hangers that grip tight enough to hold onto your canvas's? All I have are wooden ones and they would not work at all!
I bought them at a clothing shop (Primark/Penney's) for about €5 a pack. They have felt on the inside that grips the painting. I'd recommend maybe gluing something like an anti slip mat to the inside if you don't have felt. It really helps
Here's how I store them now: th-cam.com/video/JhQW9lWQMvA/w-d-xo.html I save them in case I run out, or for future projects, or to give to those who need them...
Do you use your light primarily for filming or does it help you with crafting as well? I'm looking for a good floor light to use while I'm working on small crafts that are hard to see. Even though we (theoretically) have more sunlight than you do in Ireland, I find that I NEVER have enough light for what I'm working on. Lately I've been using both a small, usb table lamp and a rechargeable, LED neck light. It works well enough, but I really need a larger, more diffused source of light. I keep looking at Ott lamps, but they're so expensive!!
I only use it for filming since any work I do at night is typically done with a light pad. For now! I'd love an Ott lamp but I agree, it is expensive. I saw there is a magnifying lens lamp (check out Handiwork Maniac) and the head can be twisted and tilted all sorts of ways.
@@RachelRaeCraft I will definitely check it out! I've been avoiding magnifying lights (because I'm really fighting hard against admitting that my eyes are getting older!) but I have to investigate it soon. I'm having a hard seeing my cross stitch when I'm tired. But, I have an eye appointment a week from Friday, so I might just need new glasses - which wouldn't surprise me because the ones I'm wearing are probably 6+ years old! :P
Thanks for showing us your craft room. One question do you frame your completed prints if so do you like them on a canvas or in a frame? Thanks for your great You Tubes, always interesting🌈
Yes, I will be getting some acrylic in the future, but for now it works! :) I'm weird, I know! But it makes me smile when I look at it and it was FREE! lol
that storage that you have i have a bead studio that have millions of storage systems but that clear one you showed none of the beads jump over? who did you buy it from?
No, they don't jump over, but then again I wouldn't go shaking it, either :P It's much better for this particular project than the lockables as there's only one lid so it's much faster to set up and break down in my small craft rotation space.
I use a binder at the moment, with baseball card inserts to separate them. I showed it in this video... Another good idea is to use a box with index cards to separate the colors..
Hi Claire, I put all that information in the description of every video I post, so you don't have to wait for my reply. I live in Ireland, so I bought it in a shop called Mr. Price. It's basically like Dollar General in the USA.

Hi there and welcome. It's a hobby of mine, just like beaded cross stitching and gaming. I don't sell them. I need to do something better with how I store my stash. I have been afraid to separate the drills from the canvases. They are currently in a box with the drills and canvases layered. 😱
