    This whole album is a masterpiece and it's regarded as their best. It's very rewarding to listen to it from start to finish, as the songs flow into each other in perfect harmony. But they have done a bunch of other great albums too, almost as good as "Argus".

    Saw Wishbone Ash perform live in my old home town of Buffalo NY in the Century Theater on May 13, 1973. Needless to say they were amazing.

    Great to see someone reacting to Wishbone Ash. I love to sit in to listen to them with reactors, because I've been a narrowly limited major fan of one version of the band for four and a half decades. Their album called Front Page News has continuously been part of my record/tape/cd collection ever since the first time I heard it and bought it in '77. I find it an interesting observation of myself that I've never really explored their other band lineups and styles, outside of that album. So, since I've been following reactors such as yourself, I always tune in and join reactors who listen to their other music so I can hear some of what I've been missing.
    This was great fun to listen to, and to see/hear your reaction.

    *Martin Turner:* Lead singer & "lead bass." IMO he was THE Key to Wishbone's greatness. Yes, the dual lead guitarists were a special highlight of the Wishbone Ash Sound, but Martin would jam right with them, injecting these melodic bass grooves to counter the other guitar soloists. Wishbone Ash: strictly a Guitar Band, but one with impressive vocals & a taste for progressive experimentation. I strongly suggest that you get the full Martin Turner treatment & listen to *Handy* off of their debut album which starts with a bass solo that just keeps getting better & better...

    Thanks for this, Saeed. Persephone is another great track by Ash from their "There's, the Rub" album. Argus is from 1972!

    After you check out *Handy* from their first album, which is really special, you should continue on to *Phoenix,* the song that follows Handy on the album. Phoenix is the archetypal Wishbone Ash masterpiece: starts slow with a lot of vocals, just like Sometime World, but builds to a blistering climax that has you shaking your head at how good they are. I don't think the guys ever did it better than they did with Phoenix...

    Really insightful reaction to a great song from a superb album. Every song is brilliant. This is their third album released in 1972 . They released so many fantastic songs I couldn't possibly mention them all but from other albums I'd highly recommend The Pilgrim ., Errors of my Ways .,Phoenix, Way of the World & Lifeline . Enjoy your journey of discovery. Ps I was fortunate enough to see them live many times in the 70s along with most of the top bands of that era & for me they were definitely the most accomplished band live on stage . Their brilliant 1973 live album ," Live Dates " for instance doesn't have a single overdub added. It's exactly as it was recorded . !! 😊

    There is rumour that the warrior on the front of Argus inspired the design of Darth Vader's outfit in Star Wars. Andy Powell from the band acknowledged this rumour, but couldn't positively say it was true.

    Now that you have listened to the best track on side one, flip it over to side two and listen to the four tracks in order at one time.
    Although not intended as a concept album it does tell a story very relevant in todays world.

    What a pleasant surprise. I used to listen to this a lot mainly for that amazing extended guitar solo. And the thunder bass. It tells a story, an epic. They used to have a following but today no one has ever heard of Wishbone Ash. I never liked their name, it's hard to say, too much S. In the original cover photo there was a UFO in the sky but I don't see it here. Rap/Hip-Hop is not technically music, it is syncopated spoken word. Vincent Van Gogh was overwhelmed by the beauty of southern France. He tried to describe it in a letter to his brother but words failed him - "And the blue sky..."

    • @SavageGrace
      @SavageGrace หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the UFO was deleted from more recent reissues. I am not sure why.

      @@SaeedReacts. Avec plaisir ! 🙂 I didn't know Wishbone Ash either when I found this album "Argus" at a vinyl records store in the early 70s (I was more into Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Genesis and Led Zep) Argus has since become one of my favorite music albums. I highly recommend it! I only have three albums from this band: "There's The Rub" released in 1974. and "Locked In" released in 1976 (I was 21 years old !!! 😱😭) EXCELLENT ALBUMS TOO !!! I love the calm and refined universe of Wishbone Ash's music. Enjoy Saeed! Enjoy 🙏
