Yeah, Corey used to bug me on regular VS, but his child like enthusiasm for learning Commander is really fun. Every time he sees a traditionally powerful Commander card, he’s like WOOOOOW! Like a kid at Christmas. lol But man-o-man do I really miss Justin on the show.
I wasn't a huge fan of the premade deck techs, but I really liked when they went around the table explaining their commander and showing off key cards they were playing.
I miss secret roles where they got bonus points for achieving random goals that they had to try and keep hidden to accomplish. I don't think they should have to keep it secret but showing your hand could help others to stop you from achieving your goal.
Fun fact - Cabal stronghold is a poor immitation of Coffers, BUT with that Urborg in play those Islands are BASIC swamps too, so Jeremy had access to way more mana than he thought.
Digital Susan Sa-Random was the the funniest thing i have ever seen. Also, all the old school computer graphics really brought me back, and was really neat to see. Loved the opening immensely.
I love the fact that Corey is so new to commander but not Magic it's awesome to see him discover how good certain cards are that aren't typically used in one vs. one formats.
Add a color is still my favorite concept. Wish it happened more often because it gives such a cool design space that the color restriction of commander otherwise already defines.
@@collins957 I totally get why hahaha, it just struck me as odd based on the wording lol. I’m definitely no judge so I figured I’d ask the very wise people of the internet
@@tjneill3123 yep, it'd be the same if it were say, zombies, and I had normal 2/2s and some decayed ones, they all have the name "zombie" so they all die, now if I had a zombie army token from like dreadhorde invasion, my army would live as it's name is "zombie army"
I miss when you would put the commander up on the screen as you guys did the pregame stuff. It feels like the cards being on the screen just happens a lot less in general now. :(
I split the precon into mono white oyobi. It's sneaky good and can flood the board with tokens outrageously fast. Toss in some anthems and some board wipe protections and were talking lethal turn 7-8
It would be cool to see an episode where everyone played one of the legends from the first Commander set, but wasn't allowed to use any cards that were already in that deck. Does that make sense? I think it'd be neat to see a new spin on old decks.
I have to wonder, is this Corey in day to day life or is he ratcheting things up a few notches because he's on camera? He's....a lot. Seems like a cool dude but just feels kinda overwhelming in this group a bit. Like I don't dislike him, just think he's got a tremendously big personality even for this table?
Did Jeremy get a point for killing John with Commander Damage? Even though his commander had infect, John was already at 14 Commander Damage so I think Jeremy should've gotten the point for it still.
What is with the 4 min sections (8min to 12min mark) and not showing the board and spells being played. One of the things I like about Commander VS is seeing all the cards I don't know.
Start off with saying I love both Justin and Corey but ever since Justin left it feels like everything became more streamlined and less about fun and more about business giving the desired 1 episode a week. Start of episode, here we are, here's the decks, let's play. feels more like a speedrun nowadays
I love to see these guys every week, but the camera switching this episode was really annoying. Especially for people who are not really familliar with all the cards it's really hard to keep up with what's going on.
I cant help but think threat assessment on this game was a total shambles. Like Jeremy goes in to take out John, john and steven destroy his permanents, then he destroys Cory's creature with the reversal. Then future turns people just arnt attacking steven when he has an engine going that will kill the rest of the table without him playing any other cards for the rest of the game.
LMFAO he says you can just skip combat yes u can sundial of the infinite ends the turn instantly. the for no combat step it automatically skips them and go's to the end step.

I miss Justin every episode but I do love Corey a ton, he is a real treat and i'm glad he's here
I like Justin too. Any information when he will be back?
@@michapodjacki6923 he stated on twitter for the time being he is done making magic content in order to focus on his family life. Both his fathers health and then his partner and child
I feel the same way...
A shame too cause Justin would've been stuck with a Kamigawa card and we all know how much he loves Kamigawa, lol!!
Still would like to have the deck tech back. Adds a lot of flavour to the decks and gameplay
That and the point totals...
agreed i like being able to have a peek at what each deck can do if they just never draw land or something and dont even really get to play the deck
I'd be happy if they show what cards they are playing, I'm watching and they haven't been showing for a while ...
I wasn't a huge fan of the premade deck techs, but I really liked when they went around the table explaining their commander and showing off key cards they were playing.
Did the editor just give up on the card viewer and the board state?
I kind of miss the short deck tech at the start of the episodes
I love Corey. He brings a lot of energy to the game. I also miss Justin.
Really hope, on top of everyone, Corey gets to experience a hidden roles commander game this season.
Me too thanks
Call up Director Kyle and get some official hot-off-the-press hidden roles.
Star City Games, the channel of MTG and analog horror. great job editor.
That early edit scared the living Gigantosaurus out of me.
Reminder, Cabal Stronghold works with Urborg, only basics but it counts Jeremy's islands as well
I miss secret roles where they got bonus points for achieving random goals that they had to try and keep hidden to accomplish. I don't think they should have to keep it secret but showing your hand could help others to stop you from achieving your goal.
Secret Roles are my favorite! They need to come back I agree.
“Kill Jeremy” 🤣

I do miss the featuring of cards. Most of us know 95% of the cards, but it's still nice to see them
Add a color is still my favorite concept. Wish it happened more often because it gives such a cool design space that the color restriction of commander otherwise already defines.
Jeremy is steadfastly determined not to get any value off his Cabal Stronghold with Urborg in play
Only works with actual swamp cards
What ever happen to short deck tech on the commander your playing?
Corey's enthusiasm is so great to see!
The 1/1 spirits should have also died from the pulse
IIRC, Cabal Stronghold counts islands that are swamps through urborg as they are still both Basic and Swamp
The Susan Surandom digital animation at the beginning is suuuuuuuper cool
I miss Justin, rest of the guys are great but he needs to come back.
Been loving these episodes. This one especially. Corey is doing a great job
That intro was wonderful.
So many turn arounds this game I love it
Ah cool. The Battle of Wu Zhang Plains, but with a vampire and spirit along for the ride.
Quick question, cause I legit don't know. Would maelstrom pulse also affect 1/1 spirits if it was targeting the 3/3 spirits?
Yes... same name.
It should have. It's a very common mistake when dealing with Malestrom Pulse and tokens

I love that Sima Yi and Kongming ended up in the same game, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Rivals fighting again in a magic game lol
Always used to the card overlay being on the right…
The bell brings the whole room together.
Production is getting real lazy with recent episodes
@10:45 "I just realized. I hate Corey." Aw, when friends sit around a table reminiscing over treasured memories...
Would the maelstrom pulse have gotten all token spirits?
Yep same name
This episode made me smile at the end
I LOL'D hard when Corey said "before damage..." Classy troll on Jerm.
I was hoping they'd rule zero and talk about what the decks do
Hope to see some spicy jank and somehow no black at the table.

After many years of watching Commander VS., I think I'm ready to choose a team. #TeamBaumeister - I enjoy watching Corey play.
Corey, Corey, Corey!
*Thanks for the Content* !
wow, I recognised Drana in the incredibly blurred mess. I am the mistake.

Star City Games makes the best MTG content!
Cabal Stronghold counts basic Islands as basic Swamp if Urborg is in play, surely?
Yes.
Yeah. Understandable to miss cause people rarely play cabal stronghold in anything but mono black. I think...
Just sent all of you a deck list for better or worse it'd be nice to see one of them pop up
It's pretty convenient that Justin isn't here right around the time of a new kamigawa set. 🤣
Digital or Analog Susan Sarandom.
I enjoy these ones where they add colors or partner anything. Also miss Justin. Hope he's doing good
That was cool
Of Steven to save John.
SIlent arbitor is my favourite troll piece, my meta is pretty into tokens LOL
Rats I was 1 min late to when this episode when live.
I haven’t watched in a while, but where’s the overlay? This seems much worse
Man I love Corey's energy
Always a fun theme, will you guys ever do a non legendary commander episode?
It Wednesday night and you know what that means Star city games on TH-cam

That bell…..love it
Not all of us magic players stay inside. I play magic AND baseball
Calm down Jon, Stephen is helping you, why so angry 😂😂
I miss knowing what cards they are playing... There's long gaps where it doesn't show.
It doesn't even show the top view from the table so I could try to look by myself. 8:30 - 10:30

Where is the card viewer? I don't have every card memorized.
Heck, or even the table view!?! I don't care about all your faces that much.
I bet you love stepmom Cory!
he says the is no way to skip the combat phase, time stop and sindile of the infinate both can be played in this game 1 by all players.
The Randomonium, OR The Colosseum of Randomness, OR The Arena of the Arbitrary, OR The Randharmonicon OR The Susan Sarandom
Corey could have kept Jeremy's commander tapped.... he missed it 😮💨
Touch Grass? I thought we all Huffed Grass.
I miss Director Kyle
Image being wonky again... I want to see the cards!
Bring back the SCG tour.
Comment and like! Great game guys
I love to see these guys every week, but the camera switching this episode was really annoying. Especially for people who are not really familliar with all the cards it's really hard to keep up with what's going on.
Guess I'm behind the times but where is Justin Parnell!?!
He's on indefinite hiatus due to personal issues and has shares updates on Twitter if you want to check up on him! :)
@Star City Games just took a look. Brutal I wish I had known before instead of asking. I love that man.

This seems like a fun way to cheat the Color Identity rule for deck building... Any chance this format idea already has a name?
RIP Corey in the comments lol... "Real Magic" lol Too bad 9/3 is a Saturday! Special Episode!
What happened to showing every card that is played? seems like someone is slacking.
If the two different kinds of spirits had the same name "Spirit" Maelstrom pulse shouldve destroyed all of them
i do not like the negative comments toward my homeboy silent arburter. put some respect on my boy
Gg everyone..now this is a game ..Steven always saving John for last ..then he win the game? Stop his alright dead
#TeamGreen
best line all game.....is somebody gona wrath ROFL
liked for the bell ding
I miss Justin
Jeremy still gets a point for dealing commander damage as Jon would die to both infect and commander damage
Is it that hard to show us each card they play? I dont want to google each card that I dont recognize... come one editor
"Real Magic." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oookaaayyy
Nice to
See no masks
Bring Justin back.
Ask people ask everyone...
Everyone should be able to choose how they look for themselves.
LMFAO he says you can just skip combat yes u can sundial of the infinite ends the turn instantly. the for no combat step it automatically skips them and go's to the end step.
Unpopular & unwanted opinion: I don't like deck techs, I prefer to keep the decks obscure and let surprises happen
I still can't not stand when the camera is not on the table it makes 0 sense
