    03' Forester w 365 K miles; never changed differential, transmission, or brake fluids; still use it everyday; but I am very religious about engine oil, change that every 3-5 K

    Great video with good detail and excellent vantage points to see all. Enough to tell me I have no business doing this myself. Gonna have to suck it up and pay $175 to get it changed. Thank you.

      Yea it definitely takes some time! $175 sounds like a good price.

    Just kidding on that last comment. But on a serious note. That tire sitting off to the side, slide it under the car in a position that would support the car if you have the car come off the jack stands, I do this with a 4x4 place on top. Its cheap insurance

    I used a long tube to fill the fill plug from the engine top side. Fill plug was really hard to break loose. Had to spray it and bang it with a long pipe.

      @lubetube.  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea same here. If I remember correctly, the camera wasn't on when breaking that one loose. Had to retighten and film it again. That's why it looked easy!

    Thanks for the video. Takes the mystery out of the process. My Forester has over 76K on it. I will do this at 80K.

    Both front and rear differential fluid look quite clean. How many miles on them?

    • @lubetube.
      @lubetube.  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the question! Around 40k.

    What is the torque value on the allen bolts?

  • @VincentDzinh
    @VincentDzinh ปีที่แล้ว

    You opened seem so easy, was it first time changing the fluid? Also how long is the extesion that you used on the front fill plug?

    • @lubetube.
      @lubetube.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, probably the third time. The extension was multiple ones put together. Around 26 inches in total.

      @@lubetube. i changed diff fluid couple times for my 14 Forester already...always struggling with the front diff fill plug.

    • @lubetube.
      @lubetube.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@qtran7171Yea they're usually tight. But the "snap" sound it makes when you first loosen it always brings a smile to my face. 😃

    How long is the extension bar that you used for the front fill plug?

    • @lubetube.
      @lubetube.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Total of 26 inches. 2 3 inch and 1 20 inch extension. Sorry for the late response.

    Do you have to loosen your exhaust pipe to torque the rear lower drain plug to swing the wrench?

    • @lubetube.
      @lubetube.  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. Was a tight fit though!

    Bad jacking practice with ramps no? Dangerous.

    • @tubefxmstr

      I'm thinking that if the rear wheel is on the ramp with parking brakes it should be okay right? If it was the front, I'd be nervous that the car would roll forward on the ramp.
